Chapter 68, Section 1.5: Photo of the puzzle box

Fish felt the communicator vibrate in his pocket, frowned slightly, and took it out. After seeing the name on it, his expression turned serious. He gestured to Mu Yegui, then walked aside and connected the call.

Mu Yegui glanced at Fei Xiu, then walked to a bench and sat down, his cool silver eyes gazing quietly at the azure sky, feeling the warmth of the winter sun.

"What do you plan to do?" Mu Yin asked.

“I don’t know what Fishu is planning to do, but we don’t have a second option right now, do we?” Mu Yegui said softly, his fingers lightly touching the carvings on the bench.

Although Fish is a bit hard to understand, he doesn't seem to have done anything strange.

"Go ahead and be a looks-obsessed person. Good-looking people are harmless to you." Mu Yin said angrily. She already knew what kind of person Mu Yegui was, so she wasn't surprised to hear her say such a thing about Fei Xiu.

Mu Yegui blinked, puzzled, and asked, "Isn't that right?"

"Hmph!" Mu Yin snorted, indicating that he didn't want to talk to someone who was obsessed with looks without any principles. Of course, what he was really thinking about was how to get rid of Mu Yegui's obsession with looks.

Mu Yegui watched the cars coming and going on the road. The retro street gave her a feeling of traveling back in time, but the clothes she was wearing told her that she was in another world, and everything was out of touch with the outside world.

She pulled a photograph from her pocket; the photograph showed a square, black metal box.

This photo was found while she was sorting through the packages Fitch received before she called the police, and it's the only photo that has nothing to do with the Phantom Thief.

The photo shows a button on the black metal box. Could this be the rumored puzzle box?

"So you had this photo." Fish's deep voice came from behind, with a hint of teasing.

"Fei Xiu knows?" Mu Yegui raised his head and looked at Fei Xiu's smooth chin, puzzled.

Fisch reached behind him and took the photo. He pointed to a button on the puzzle box and said slowly, "Well, this puzzle box is in Detective Flaro's house. He got it by chance from the last case, but he still hasn't figured out how to open it."

"So, was the person who wanted to kill him after this puzzle box?" It might be something unexpectedly obtained from the previous case, a remnant from that case. Connecting this to the attack he was attacked because of it seems plausible.

"Why does the police have this photo?" Since it was obtained accidentally, the police shouldn't have known about it. Everyone knows that all evidence related to the case must be kept by the police.

“Because it was unrelated to the case, the police just took a picture and let Detective Flavour take him away. Actually, I don’t know much about it either; I was at the Amazing Circus preparing for the parade at the time.” Fich meant that this matter had nothing to do with him; it was really just a coincidence.

Mu Yegui found it strange. If this thing really was the cause of Detective Flavour's attack, then it must be related to the previous case and be very important, otherwise it wouldn't have been attacked.

“Let’s go to the detective’s house and look for this black box,” Mu Yegui said slowly, standing up and looking at Fish. “It’s no use, it’s gone,” Fish shook his head.

"It's gone? Did the murderer take it?"

Mu Yegui had two guesses in his mind: one was that he was taken away by the murderer, and the other was that he was hidden. But it seemed that Fei Xiu knew where the mechanism box was originally located.

Fisch shoved the photo back into Mu Yegui's hand, took a step forward, his deep blue eyes filled with suppressed madness, and said with a light laugh, "When I asked him why he attacked Detective Flaro, the murderer said he was looking for something, but before he could find it, he accidentally broke the wall and had to run away in a hurry."

"I didn't see his face." Mu Yegui had previously told the police officer that she had lied about seeing the murderer's face. The murderer's face was covered, how could she have really seen it? She was just testing whether the real murderer would appear on his own after hearing what she said.

"Fisch, did you really catch the murderer? Because I didn't see his face, you couldn't possibly know what he looks like. If he switched places with someone else around the corner, you wouldn't be able to recognize him either." If the two people who switched places had the same build and were dressed the same way, and they were also covered in the same way, no one would be able to tell them apart, or even know when they switched places.

"I don't know the answer to your question, but I did catch him and take him to the police station. You were at home at the time, so even if you weren't the real culprit, you wouldn't have been able to go back and look for the puzzle box, but it still disappeared."

Fish smiled faintly, his captivating blue eyes sparkling with alluring light. His words were so convincing that no one could doubt their truthfulness.

"So, was it hidden by Detective Flaro?" Mu Yegui stuffed the photo back into his pocket, looked up at Fish, and said, "But if the criminal you arrested is a fake, then his confession cannot be trusted either."

Fish's words were always half true and half false. Even after talking with him for so long, Mu Yegui didn't feel that he could completely trust him.

Even now, she still hasn't figured out Fish's real purpose, so she will try her best to cooperate with Fish and continue acting.

"We'll have to stay at a hotel for today." Fishu didn't answer Mu Yegui, but simply took her hand and walked towards the hotel.

Mu Yegui let Fei Xiu lead her, but in her heart she was slowly thinking about Fei Xiu's intentions.

Fisch said he was a little late because he was delayed by something, but how did he know she was at the coffee shop?
If he really was chasing the murderer, how could it have taken him so long?

He must have done something behind the scenes to take so long and keep an eye on her the whole time.

Before Fishu made a sound, Mu Yegui did not realize that Fishu was actually standing behind her, as if he had appeared out of thin air.

Before coming here, her superpowers hadn't been sealed, and she used to enjoy teleporting behind people to scare them. But now that she doesn't have her powers, she can only be like an ordinary person, except when she's actually running.

She is very fast, and if she is serious, she can teleport, unless Fish is the same.

If that's really the case, then Fish is truly terrifying; I'm afraid very few will survive the September raid.
