Chapter 593, page 2.1-67: The Crown: The Treasure of a Lost Dynasty
"Alan! We need to add an extra game! We need to get ready right away!" Hein shouted anxiously.
"Add another show? We're leaving tonight..." Allen hesitated.
“The other party is very generous and wears jewels, so we can’t afford to offend them. Besides… the city lord is also there…” Hein’s voice gradually softened, tinged with a hint of hatred.
"Go call Correa, everyone else bring the props and come with me," Allen urged seriously.
Mu Yegui saw two people carrying props for their performance as they walked in one after another. She walked to the door and quietly watched from a distance. Suddenly, she seemed to realize something and took a step back to avoid the gaze of others.
It seems they are being monitored by something.
After a while, Haiyin hurriedly walked in. Seeing that Mu Yegui's expression had softened, she asked softly, "We're going to a performance. Do you want to come with us?"
Mu Yegui pondered. She wanted to refuse, but since she was being monitored and couldn't hide no matter where she went, she might as well go out openly. At least in public, people wouldn't dare to touch her, but that might not be the case when she was alone.
"You want to take her with you? She'll be in the way, you know. She can't do anything." Koreya frowned and said with disdain.
"Won't this disturb you?" Mu Yegui asked.
"It's okay, you can just stand in the back." Hein bent down, reached out and touched her hair, and said gently.
Mu Yegui nodded and followed the acrobatic troupe, watching them arrive at a high platform and perform in front of the city lord.
The city lord was rather fat and ugly; in Mu Yegui's words, he was so ugly that even the metaphor felt like an insult to pigs. She had never seen anyone wear gold jewelry so greasyly, especially since the so-called city lord's gaze was fixed on her as if he wanted to devour her whole.
“That girl…” The city lord pointed to Mu Yegui standing to the side, his big belly shaking with laughter.
“This is my sister,” Hein said respectfully, taking a step forward.
"You two seem to look quite different?" the city lord said quietly, staring at Mu Yegui.
"Are you blind?" Mu Yegui glanced at the city lord and asked in a soft, childlike voice, devoid of any emotion.
"Do you think I'm blind?" The city lord looked at Mu Yegui with a smile, seemingly having a very good temper.
"If you're not blind, don't say such idiotic things. Anyone with eyes can see it." This statement is ambiguous. It's unclear whether it's leading him to believe that anyone with eyes can see that they look alike or not. The lack of explicit statement only allows people to make their own subjective judgments.
"I'm sorry, I rarely bring my sister out; she's not in good health," Hein quickly explained, seeing that the city lord seemed about to get angry.
The city lord wasn't particularly angry. He continued to leer at Mu Yegui and beckoned, "Come, come, let this city lord take a look at you."
Seeing that Mu Yegui hadn't moved, Koreya urged him in a low voice, "Go."
Mu Yegui glanced at Koreya, then looked again at Hein, who was filled with worry, and walked step by step toward the city lord.
The two drew closer and closer, and just as the city lord's lewd hand was about to touch him, Mu Yegui reached out and pressed his sharp fingertips against the carotid artery in his neck. His cold, silver eyes stared at him quietly, as if he were looking at a dead man.
"If you don't want to die, you can continue." The soft, sweet voice was cold and tinged with murderous intent.
With fingernails pressed against the city lord's neck, crimson blood flowed down.
The city lord's body stiffened slightly, his expression filled with fear. He retreated in fear, no longer daring to move an inch.
Suddenly she seemed to sense a sharp gaze from below the stage. Turning her head, she only saw a black figure flash by.
She paused for a moment, then frowned slightly. It wasn't her imagination; there really had been someone there. Who could it be?
"Can you let me go now?" the city lord asked obsequiously. Mu Yegui glanced at the city lord, who seemed to sense some terrifying aura and froze, no longer daring to utter a word.
She glanced at the city lord's large belly, which was indeed very fat. She understood why Ji Qi always called him a pig; he was probably afraid that Rong Yi would also become so fat.
The acrobatic troupe's performance was spectacular and received a lot of applause, but the city lord next to Mu Yegui was sweating profusely. When it finally ended, he threw down a lot of gold and left as if fleeing in panic.
"Are you alright?" Hein asked anxiously.
Mu Yegui shook his head.
Koreya glanced suspiciously at Mu Yegui, then at the somewhat disheveled city lord's back, feeling as if she had overlooked something.
"Let's go! We need to leave quickly!" Allen said solemnly.
The group hurriedly loaded their luggage onto the donkey cart, and then drove off without hesitation.
"Why are you in such a hurry?" Correa asked.
“I just saw the priest mingling in the crowd. They’ve been cracking down on rebels lately, and I’m afraid that my contact with them might be discovered and implicate you. Although I didn’t agree to their involvement, the priest wouldn’t think that way,” Allen said, shaking his head.
Although there was no strict investigation or search for insurgents, once someone was reported and discovered, they would definitely be tied up and burned at the stake.
"We think we're being followed... Let's head towards the forest, hold on tight!" Allen shouted.
Immediately afterwards, they felt the donkey cart start running wildly. Haiyin held Mu Yegui tightly, afraid that she would get hurt. Mu Yegui looked at Haiyin's actions with confusion, not quite understanding why she was doing this.
Unknowingly, the sky gradually darkened.
In the silent forest, only the constant movement of the donkey cart broke the tranquility.
The donkey cart gradually slowed down and finally stopped. Alan jumped off the cart and said to everyone, "Get off, we've shaken off. We'll rest here for tonight and continue our journey tomorrow. I'll arrange the night watch."
"Ahhh, finally I can rest!" the muscular man shouted at the top of his lungs.
The birds in the forest were startled and scattered because of the man's loud voice.
"Brother, are you trying to attract something else? The forest isn't very safe!" Koreya said, pulling on the man's ear with exasperation.
"I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry, I've been sitting in the donkey cart for so long and I'm really feeling uncomfortable!" the man apologized.
"I'll go fetch water," Hein said softly as she watched them light the campfire, carrying a bucket of water.
Mu Yegui followed behind Haiyin without saying a word.
"Are you coming with me?" Hein asked.
Mu Yegui nodded, but still didn't say anything.
"Alright, then you stay with me and don't get lost," Haiyin said to Mu Yegui with a light smile.
"Hmph, you really spoil her!" Koreya said coolly, sitting on the wooden seat to the side.
