Chapter 346 1.23 9 Paper Cutting
The merchant's stall consisted of a simple wooden board displaying three items, each with a label indicating its price.

The merchant was depicted as a paper figure draped in a cloak, completely out of place with the realistic three-dimensional wooden board beside him.

Bertias carefully observed the merchant's appearance, a dark glint flashing in his blue-gray eyes. He chuckled and pointed to one of the boxes in the middle of the goods, saying, "This is an unknown item? You didn't know what was inside until you opened it?"

The merchant did not answer Bertias's question. Bertias shrugged indifferently, picked up the middle box, and tossed five embroidered coins onto the wooden board.

Without even glancing at the kitchen knife and rice beside him, he completely ignored them.

"So you bought this piece of junk?" Koya looked at the box with disdain and said slowly.

Everyone unanimously ignored the fact that Bertias had money to buy things; it wasn't important to them anyway, not even a key point.

“I felt this box was mysterious, so I bought it,” Bertias said calmly, nodding.

"What made you ignore the rice next to it and choose this inedible, damned box?" Koya said through gritted teeth. She'd already washed the food but hadn't bought anything, insisting on choosing a box that couldn't do anything. If he hadn't beaten her to it, would she be in such a passive position now?
"What can it do?" Mu Yegui squatted on the ground, poking it with his finger intermittently, and asked softly.

“It can’t do anything.” Bertias shrugged and continued Mu Yegui’s words.

Koya felt several large crosses appear on her forehead. She wanted to be angry but tried her best to control herself. Finally, she chuckled and squeezed out a few words through her teeth, "Then you can go to sleep with it."

Bertias: "..."

Bertias chuckled awkwardly, then, with a strong survival instinct, said, "No, let me explain. I thought it might be useful, so I bought it."

"Then tell me, what's it used for?" Koya raised an eyebrow, looking at Bertias with a half-smile, and asked.

"Uh... I can't remember for a moment?" Bertias glanced at the box, quietly took a step back, and smiled.

"It doesn't seem like it can hold much." Mu Yegui shook the box up and down, his cool silver eyes curiously looking at the darkness inside, and said slowly.

“I did buy it because I thought it would be useful; otherwise, I wouldn’t have deliberately ignored the kitchen knife and food.” Bertias said, looking conflicted.

The moment he saw it, he was completely mesmerized, picking it up and paying without hesitation. By the time he came to his senses, the purchase was complete. There was absolutely no way to take it back; he could only grit his teeth and accept it.

Mu Yegui stared quietly at the darkness inside the small box, but finally couldn't resist reaching in with his eager hand.

"Ah." She simply uttered a sound of surprise, and the next second she was sucked into the box.

The box fell empty to the ground and shook a few times.

Ling Tong: "..."

Koya: "..."

Lan Xiao: "..."

Yu Yin: "..."

Bertias: "..."

The five people stared silently at the box, then four pairs of eyes turned to a certain person. The latter took a step back, his smile somewhat awkward, and quickly said, "It wasn't me. I didn't know this box would suck people in."

“...This is the second time.” Ling Tong sighed softly.

"Could it be that Mu Yegui has encountered this before?" Ke Ya asked curiously.

"During the September instance, she was also curious and put her hand into the box, and then she got sucked in," Ling Tong said with a sigh.

“He’s a repeat offender.” Ke Ya rubbed her forehead, her tone full of complexity.

Curiosity killed the cat. Mu Yegui really doesn't know how to learn from his mistakes. It happened once before, and he tried to put his hand into the box again and got sucked in again.

Is she a cat? Why does she want to crawl into boxes?
"What happened after you were sucked in?" Lan Xiao asked.

"It came out of another box, and then she wanted to do it again, but I stopped her," Ling Tong said expressionlessly, not wanting to comment on the behavior at all.

Koya: "..." As expected, she's a stubborn girl who never learns.

"So what will happen this time?" Koya sighed.

Bertias frowned as she looked at the strange box and said slowly, "How can something this size suck a person in? It doesn't make sense."

Koya's lips twitched slightly as she said, "Don't worry about it being unscientific. Anyway, it was sucked in right in front of you. Even if it's unscientific, you have to believe it. Or you can try putting your hand in and see if it sucks people in."

"Forget about that. I want to live, not die," Bertias said, raising an eyebrow and refusing without hesitation.

"Could there be another space inside this box?" Lan Xiao looked down at the box and said softly.

“I’ve only ever heard of mirrors containing inverted worlds, never boxes…” Bertias frowned, then suddenly realized something and said, “Wait! This paper doll world has already appeared, so maybe there really is another world inside the box. Just like nesting dolls, one after another.”

“That’s quite possible.” Ling Tong nodded. “The Gourmet Kingdom is the territory of Gluttony. And the abilities of the Gluttony faction’s apostles and even the dungeon masters are all spatial, so they can create nested worlds.”

“Theory is one thing, but the question is, do you have the guts to go in? After all, nobody knows what’s inside, or what will happen once you’re inside. It might just be a trap, and you could die instantly.” Bertias glanced at the crowd and said slowly.

"I value my life very much, so let's observe for now," Ke Ya said slowly.

“I want to go in and take a look, but once I’m inside, I won’t be able to contact this place. Even if it really is another world inside, I won’t be able to notify you,” Lan Xiao said softly.

She has a way to save her life; even if she goes inside and finds it's a trap, she can escape immediately. But she can't tell anyone else about this. A way to save her life is, after all, a way to save her life, her last trump card, and she can't tell anyone but herself.

“Then, Xiaomei and I will go in together,” Beltias said with a light laugh, taking a step forward.

Lan Xiao was slightly taken aback.

“I can’t possibly let you in alone. Having one more person means one more possibility, right? You guys outside can continue doing what you were doing before, and maybe you’ll even meet up again.” Bertias picked up the box, grabbed Lan Xiao’s wrist, and reached inside without hesitation.

I felt a huge suction force, and the next second everything went black and I couldn't see anything.
