Chapter 343 1.23 6 Paper Cutting
"Want to buy an umbrella? A pretty floral umbrella." A vendor's voice called out.

Lan Xiao paused slightly, stopping in front of the umbrella stall, and casually picked up a red umbrella to examine it carefully.

"Miss, would you like to buy an umbrella? It's very exquisite and practical," the shopkeeper said.

"How much?" Lan Xiaoyang asked, waving the umbrella.

"It's not expensive, it's only three embroidered coins."

Embroidered coins?

Lan Xiaowei was slightly taken aback. Was this the exclusive currency for this instance?

Before Lan Xiao could think further, a hand suddenly reached out and placed three round copper coins with square holes on the stall.

A gentle breeze stirred, lifting strands of blue-gray hair and lightly touching Lan Xiao's face, making her feel slightly ticklish.

Lan Xiao took a step back, her delicate and beautiful face showing a hint of wariness and tension, and asked softly, "Didn't you say not to follow me?"

“I thought you’d be curious why I have embroidered coins,” Bertias said casually, shrugging innocently.

Lan Xiao noticed this question, but she didn't think Bertias would answer her, so she simply ignored it and instead asked Bertias why she was following her.

"Can you speak?" Lan Xiao tightened her grip on the umbrella slightly, took a step back, and asked.

"Hmm... If it's Xiaomei, I'll tell you." Beltias put his hands behind his back, showing that he was safe and harmless, and winked at Lan Xiaodan with a light laugh.

Lan Xiao was stunned for a moment, unsure of what to say to this person.

No matter how much you refuse, he will follow you, and you can't shake him off.

But he didn't act like he wanted to hurt her at all...

If you can't understand this person, it's like a fog; no matter how carefully you observe, it remains a blur.

Just as Lan Xiao was stunned, the sound of wheels came from afar, seemingly the sound of a carriage speeding by, accompanied by the screams of the paper figures.

"Watch out!" Bertias rushed over and pinned Lan Xiao to the ground, narrowly avoiding the danger of the passing carriage.

She blinked her emerald eyes, looking at Bertias on top of her in surprise. Their faces were very close, and they could easily feel each other's warm breath.

Her long, blue-gray hair intertwined with her short, slightly wavy, golden hair, creating a lingering, ambiguous atmosphere.

"I'm sorry." Bertias lowered her eyes, her tone tinged with apology.

“…Mmm.” Lan Xiao pursed her pink lips and replied.

"Uh, I'll get up right away." Beltias hurriedly got up, turning her back to Lan Xiao as if in a panic, somewhat shy.

Lan Xiao propped herself up, her emerald eyes staring quietly at the fingers she had pressed against the ground. A hint of disgust and struggle flashed in her eyes. She slowly got up and gently patted the dust off her body.

"Thank you for helping me." Lan Xiao nodded to Bertias's shy back, then left with the umbrella in her arms.

As the footsteps receded into the distance behind him, Bertias's slightly upturned lips vanished in an instant. His smile returned to calm as he glanced back at the stalls around him, now mangled beyond recognition by the carriage.

"Even without the plot unfolding, you're constantly facing danger...?" Bertias said coldly and quietly.

It seems he underestimated this instance.

However, this kind of dungeon is what makes it challenging, and hopefully his teammates won't die before the dungeon even starts.

On the other side, the carriage was recklessly speeding through the streets, completely disregarding whether anyone was walking in its path.

"If it weren't for the designated instance, I really wouldn't want to come." Ke Ya frowned as she walked out of the mansion's gate and saw a carriage speeding towards her in the distance.

Without thinking, she took a few steps back and returned to the mansion. Looking at the carriage that was moving like a mad dog, she frowned.

"Is this some kind of temporary, dangerous test?" Koya said uncertainly. "Isn't it a bit too unreliable? Or is there some special purpose behind it?"

No matter how you look at it, you can easily dodge it as long as your attention isn't drawn away.

Not far away, Ling Tong was walking through the bustling night market, contemplating what to do next. She casually took a step to the left and easily avoided the danger posed by the carriage.

Her dark red long hair, tied into a three-strand braid, swayed slightly before stopping, without a trace of disorder.

"Help!! My child!" A commotion came from behind, and the mother cried out in anguish for her child, who was wailing loudly.

Ling Tong paused for a moment behind the white mask, then turned around without hesitation, holding her sword in one hand, and ran towards the carriage that had already driven away.

On the rooftop, amidst the commotion, Mu Yegui was lying asleep.

His eyes were tightly closed, showing no sign of being woken up.

Or perhaps she had already been woken up, but just didn't want to open her eyes.

"Mommy..." The child lay on the ground, looking at her mother who was being stopped and trying to rush over, a tear in the corner of her eye, seemingly not understanding why her mother didn't come over and pick her up.

Seeing this, Yu Yin hesitated for a moment, then ran up to help the child up.

Just then, the carriage came into view.

Without hesitation, Yu Yin pushed the child away and then closed her eyes tightly.

Dying?

It seems this is the end...

The pain she had imagined did not come. Yu Yin cautiously opened her eyes and saw her so-called strangely dressed but very handsome red-haired teammate standing in front of her.

His long braid, tied into three strands, flew through the air and gradually fell down. His light-colored cloak billowed behind him as he moved violently. He didn't care about the condition of the carriage. He simply casually put the sharp sword he had drawn back into its sheath.

A soft 'ding-a-ling' of the palace bell shattered the momentary tranquility with a heartbreaking sound.

The carriage was split in two and slowly fell to the ground.

His braid hung gently behind his head, swaying softly as he turned. He glanced sideways at Yu Yin, who stood there stunned. His long, narrow, golden-orange phoenix eyes were as beautiful and unpredictable as the sunset sky, with a touch of vermilion at the corners that was alluring and possessed an indescribable charm.

Those eyes held no emotion whatsoever, as if Yu Yin were just an ordinary object, leaving her words of gratitude stuck in her throat, unable to be uttered.

Ling Tong bent down slightly to pick up the white mask that had fallen to the ground due to the strenuous exercise, and gently patted it. Just as he was about to put the mask on, he seemed to sense something and subconsciously took a step back.

The mask in his hand shattered in an instant, falling to the ground with a crisp sound.

A gentle breeze blew by, lifting the black hem of her skirt and the light-colored strands of her hair.

Mu Yegui, who was sleeping on the roof, was now standing on the street, holding a strangely shaped short sword in her small hand, staring intently at Ling Tong with her cold, silver eyes.

"I'm hungry."
