Chapter 131, Section 1.8: The Mask
Cafe.

Soft sunlight streamed down through the clear glass, casting its light on the two people sitting by the window.

The girl had long, soft, misty gray curls that framed her delicate and pretty face, making her appear even more petite and charming. Her cool, silver eyes were fixed on the plate of strawberry cake in front of her. Her slender, white fingers picked up a platinum dessert fork, cut off a piece, and put it in her mouth.

Sitting opposite her was a man wearing a black mask, whose face was obscured.

Her dark red long hair was tied into a high ponytail at the back of her head, with a golden hair ribbon hanging down slightly like a tassel, giving her a noble yet casual feel.

A turquoise tassel earring adorned her left ear, while an exquisite white, diagonally-buttoned, high-necked robe gave her a clean and elegant look, decorated with a cluster of green mandalas edged in gold.

His slender fingers lightly touched the handle of the white porcelain coffee cup, his face obscured by the black mask.

"So you're here to freeload? We don't seem to know each other that well." The deep voice was lazy and casual, with a hint of imperceptible helplessness.

“Tong doesn’t have to be invited.” Mu Yegui glanced at him with his cool silver eyes and mumbled through his mouth while biting on a dessert fork.

Ling Tong paused for a moment, then returned to the original topic, "So, tell me, what have you been doing following me?"

Mu Yegui blinked, pondered for a moment, and slowly said, "Is it wrong to be curious about the daily life of the food reserves? We should build a good relationship with the food and learn more about it."

Ling Tong remained silent; it was obvious from her words that they were fake.

Seeing that Ling Tong didn't speak, Mu Yegui pursed her pink lips and then obediently said, "I just finished the dungeon and went to the tavern, and then I saw you. Since we're acquaintances, I followed you."

“I’m also looking for something. Shall we cooperate?” Mu Yegui suggested first. Because it was about reserve grain, Ling Tong wasn’t an outsider and was someone they could cooperate with.

Outside the window is a large, white, circular fountain, with nine goddesses of art in the center, symbolizing various forms of art and representing the Wonder Kingdom's love for creation.

White doves flew around the fountain, one of them landing on the shoulder of a dignified goddess, preening its white feathers.

Ling Tong turned to look out the window, her golden-orange eyes beneath the mask reflecting the image of white doves, and her thin lips moved slightly as she uttered a single word, "Okay."

After saying that, he seemed to be surprised and paused for a moment, then calmly added, "What are you looking for?"

"[104 incomplete pages]." Mu Yegui took the white paper out of his pocket and said slowly.

“I have five.” Ling Tong glanced at them and said, “I can give them to you if you want, but they’re not of any use to me.”

"Thank you." Without any hesitation, Mu Yegui accepted it as a matter of course. In her mind, when someone gave her something, there was no need for her to pretend to refuse; it was a very simple thing to accept what you wanted and refuse what you didn't want.

Suddenly, Mu Yegui pointed to Ling Tong's collar, her mouth slightly open in surprise, "Ah, it seems like there's something on it."

Ling Tong subconsciously glanced at his collar, and the next second a small hand touched his mask. He could clearly feel that hand on his mask, and that it could be easily removed with a slight movement.

Her body stiffened as if she were tense or sensing something; she neither shook her off nor retreated, but simply remained frozen in place.

Mu Yegui bent over, one hand resting on the coffee table, his feet slightly raised, and leaned forward, placing one hand on Ling Tong's menacing black mask. He tilted his head slightly, puzzled, and asked, "Why does Tong wear a mask? Can't she take it off?"

Ling Tong remained silent, unsure how to answer Mu Yegui. "If you don't speak, I'll reveal it." Mu Yegui's clear, silver eyes stared silently at Ling Tong as he spoke slowly.

“No…no need…” Ling Tong turned her head away from Mu Yegui’s hand, her beautiful golden-orange eyes beneath the mask showing a hint of forbearance and regret.

Mu Yegui leaned forward a few more feet, kneeling on the chair. His long, misty gray hair fell onto the table, seemingly radiating golden light under the sunlight.

Inadvertently, her elbow knocked over the coffee cup on the table, spilling brown coffee and staining the white surface. Ling Tong instinctively helped Mu Yegui brush away the stray hairs hanging on the table to prevent them from getting coffee on them, but Mu Yegui, in that instant, placed his hand on his mask again.

Ling Tong stood up slightly, and the mask on her face had somehow ended up in Mu Yegui's hands.

His stunningly beautiful face is captivating at any time, especially his golden-orange eyes, as magnificent and dazzling as a sunset sky. The touch of vermilion at the corner of his eyes is like the finishing touch, making his features even more enchanting. Just a fleeting glance is enough to make one's bones melt, completely immersed in his beauty.

His narrow, golden-orange eyes held a hint of surprise and a hidden joy that even he himself was unaware of, as if he could finally truly show his true self.

“Tong is very beautiful, why cover it up?” Mu Yegui glanced at the black mask in his hand, then put it on his face and said, “Do I look good like this?”

Ling Tong withdrew her surprised expression, her golden-orange eyes filled with a hint of amusement. She gently stroked the tassel earring on her left ear and said softly, "Don't just help people take off their masks."

"Tong didn't refuse." Mu Yegui moved and climbed back into her seat, speaking earnestly in her soft, sweet voice.

"Tong's aura changes with the mask, is it because no one can see your true appearance when you wear a mask?"

When Ling Tong first appeared, he seemed very domineering while wearing a mask, but as they spent more time together, it became clear that this wasn't his true personality. He seemed to be playing someone, forcing himself to become like that person.

Mu Yegui placed the mask on the table and pushed it forward, saying, "Tong is actually very gentle." She is also very soft and sweet, like a strawberry cake, which she could feel even though she has no sense of taste.

"Is that so..." Ling Tong lowered her eyes, and her dull, golden-orange eyes gradually regained their luster as if they had encountered light.

"So, can I eat it?" Mu Yegui pointed to Ling Tong's wrist and asked.

Ling Tong paused for a moment, then said helplessly, "Did you say all that just for the food?"

Mu Yegui nodded and said honestly, "Because I haven't eaten for a long time, I'm very hungry."

"Come here," Ling Tong said slowly, turning her head to look out the window.

A magnificent and solemn fountain, a white dove perched on the finger of a goddess with a solemn and devout expression, its narrow, golden-orange eyes slowly revealing a glimmer of hope.

Perhaps he really wasn't abandoned...

Ling Tong, who changes her outfit every time she appears, writes sweet songs just like the ones she listens to.

Mu Yegui's cunning is deeply hidden, full of elaborate schemes.

It still holds many details.
