Chapter 125 The Five Immortals

Several police officers watched as the sorceress entered the village.

The criminal investigation team asked the village chief, "Village chief, will this work?"

The village chief said, "You young people don't understand, so don't talk nonsense. This Granny Zhou is a well-known spiritualist in several villages around us. Don't be presumptuous."

Hearing the village chief's words, a member of the criminal investigation team asked, "What is a psychic?"

The village chief glanced at them and gave a brief introduction.

Everything in the universe has a spirit.

Besides humans, gods, and ghosts, there are many other spiritual beings, demons, and immortals in the Three Realms.

To put it simply, it's about animals cultivating themselves into spirits and then cooperating with humans to achieve mutual benefit and help each other solve problems.

Folk animal worship is mainly reflected in the worship of the "Five Great Families," which is a kind of worship of demons and immortals, and also stems from the idea that all things have a spirit.

The five families are also called the "Five Great Immortals", including the Fox Immortal (fox), the Yellow Immortal (weasel), the White Immortal (hedgehog), the Willow Immortal (snake), and the Gray Immortal (rat). They are commonly known as "Fox, Yellow, White, Willow, and Gray" (or "Gray, Yellow, Fox, White, Willow").

It is widely believed that the Five Great Families have coexisted with humans for a long time and are supernatural beings that are both demons and immortals. If they are offended or harmed, they can use their magic to retaliate against humans and punish them with disasters of varying degrees. However, if people worship them, they will receive blessings.

Therefore, many families in the countryside enshrine the Five Great Families.

There are two ways to make offerings: one is to place a full set of statues of the gods next to the Buddhist shrine or ancestral hall at home. The full set of statues includes eight gods, namely the three stars of fortune, prosperity, and longevity, as well as the five great families, arranged in three rows.

The five figures are all depicted as human, with kind and benevolent faces. Except for Bai Xian, who is associated with the image of an old woman named Bai, the other four are depicted as men, wearing official robes and warm hats, and their colors are gray-blue or dark blue.

Bai Xian wore a skirt, a phoenix coronet, and a wedding gown; she was very beautiful.

Another method of worship is to build a "Fairy House" in a corner of the courtyard to enshrine the ancestral tablets of the five great families.

The Fairy Pavilion is a wooden temple model, over 3 feet wide and 2 feet high. The craftsmanship is almost identical to that of a real temple, complete with a roof ridge, a veranda, and four doors in front.

The ancestral tablets of the five great families were placed inside, and the offerings were also placed in the shrine. A wooden stand, about half a foot high, was made under the shrine. A round hole was dug at the connection between the top of the stand and the shrine, and another round hole was dug on the side of the stand. The purpose was to make it convenient for the five great families to enjoy the food offerings and to move in and out easily.

Among the five great families worshipped, the folk held the fox spirit, the yellow spirit, and the white spirit in the highest esteem. There are many legends about their miracles, and they are often associated with the Third Grandfather Hu, the Second Grandfather Huang, and the Old Lady Bai.

The Five Great Immortals are the only household immortals listed among the Ten Great Demons and Monsters.

This Granny Zhou was a shaman who believed in the Five Great Immortals.

It is said that she was not originally from here, but came from the east or north.

There are more legends about the Five Great Immortals over there, so naturally there are more spirit mediums.

However, this old woman, Zhou, later settled here and never left.

Whenever strange or unusual things happen in the nearby villages, or when people have illnesses, they go to Granny Zhou for help. Granny Zhou is protected by household spirits, so she can solve some difficult and complicated problems even faster.

Therefore, apart from the village chief, Zhou Po held an extremely high position in the nearby villages.

Now that such a serious thing has happened in this village, they invited Granny Zhou over immediately.

As soon as Granny Zhou entered the village, her brows furrowed. She said, "Such a strong demonic aura."

Granny Zhou was, after all, a spirit medium, and her sense of demonic energy was much stronger than that of ordinary people. As soon as she entered the village, she sensed a very strong demonic energy, so she casually said something.

The village chief's face darkened as he listened to his words.

Granny Zhou could also see that there were indeed monsters in their village.

The village chief then led Granny Zhou to Old Zhang's house. He asked Old Zhang if there were any evil spirits in the yard, and whether demons or monsters came from there.

Granny Zhou glanced at Old Zhang's house, her brows furrowed, and said, "There is indeed a demonic aura here, but it's not very clear from the outside. I need to go in and take a look."

When the villagers around heard what Granny Zhou said, they all started whispering among themselves.

"See? I told you his grandson must be a demon in disguise."

“Even Granny Zhou said there was demonic energy inside, and the demons must have come from here. Those two people were killed by members of their family.”

"This is too dangerous! Please, Granny Zhou, help subdue this demon quickly!"

The villagers around were talking.

Granny Zhou was getting a little impatient.

I felt that the villagers were somewhat heartless and ungrateful.

She knew who Old Zhang was.

The Zhang family has been practicing medicine for generations, and they have helped countless patients in the village. Many families have received medical treatment and assistance from Old Zhang.

When the village was poor, Old Zhang would go up the mountain to collect medicinal herbs and treat patients, without charging them any money.

Now that the family is facing difficulties, these guys are the first to jump out and criticize, and even Granny Zhou can't stand what they're saying.

Granny Zhou immediately retorted angrily, "Shut up, all of you! The matter hasn't been investigated yet, what are you all shouting about? If you're really scared, why don't you just move out of the village and live there? Or if you have the money, move to the city."

Some of you were saved by Old Zhang, and now that his family is in trouble, you're the first to start a disturbance. You ungrateful bastards!

Granny Zhou shouted angrily.

Instantly, many villagers fell silent; they knew how formidable Granny Zhou was.

After all, she was a sorceress, so she naturally possessed a powerful aura and a mysterious background.

They dared not offend such people, for fear that if they offended them today, Granny Zhou would cause them trouble that night.

Moreover, they still needed her help, and when they heard Granny Zhou get angry, they immediately shut up and dared not say anything more.

Some people were still wondering, even though Old Zhang had treated them before, they couldn't just let his grandson harm them now, could they?
They continued to gather around, eager to see what kind of monster Old Zhang's grandson really was.

Grandma Zhou followed the village chief and the criminal police into Old Zhang's house.

Old Zhang knew that the village chief had brought the sorceress, so he came out to greet them.

The village chief said, "Old Zhang, I've brought a shaman to take a look at your grandson today and see what the problem is."

As you know, two murders have occurred in the village recently, which has been giving me a huge headache and has left the villagers in a state of panic.

There are some rumors circulating about your family right now. Whether there's anything true or not, let the fortune teller take a look first.

The village chief was a very reasonable person. He spoke to Old Zhang in a kind and gentle manner, and Old Zhang nodded in agreement after listening.

He was a reasonable person and knew that the village chief was under a lot of pressure and that there was indeed a big problem in the village.

Since the fortune teller is already here, it might be good to take a look.
