He shifted the blade's guard away from the opponent's long claws, reversed his grip on the blade, placed his left hand on his right wrist, and, following the momentum of his forward charge, tore a wound directly into the opponent's left lower leg ankle!
He then immediately performed a forward roll to dodge the ensuing long claw attack!

He turned and continued running eastward.
