Chapter 980 The Disliked Hattori
"It turns out that people can't walk in a straight line when they're drunk, but I've never tried it myself."
As Rize staggered into his arms, breathing heavily with the smell of alcohol, and then softly called out "Dad" in a male voice, Yuuji shook his head at the shocked crowd and then patted "Sano" on the back.
"Ahem, Miss Kudo, thank you for taking him to his room to rest."
Yuji ruled out the possibility of Sano being the suspect, and then called out to Hattori Mamoru inside the room.
"Mr. Hattori, what's your discovery?"
Conan, who had been standing at the door listening to what was happening outside and observing what was happening inside, called out to Mamoru Hattori, indicating that the unfortunate police officer outside was calling him.
"This woman must have eaten okonomiyaki from Kyōdōya before she died. I can smell their special sauce. My mom eats it every Monday, so I'm absolutely sure I'm not mistaken."
Hattori Mamoru poked his head out of the room, pointed his thumb toward the corpse, and seeing the disgusted expressions on the faces of the department heads, he continued to add to the story.
"There's also Mr. Sanlin's takoyaki, and Michelin's teriyaki Wagyu beef, all of which are famous dishes. They each have their own unique characteristics in Osaka, so they're easy to spot."
Kudo Yuji wiped the drool off his collar with his hand, inwardly complaining that the breath freshener his eldest son had spent a fortune on was nothing like the advertised breath freshener that could block out the smell of alcohol. Aloud, he told the story of the other food in Ono Hideko's stomach.
"Etc., etc!"
Hattori Mamoru hurriedly interrupted Kudo Yuji, staring incredulously at the "police officer" from Tokyo, and said suspiciously, "How do you know? You didn't glove her stomach next to her body. It's too far-fetched to judge by just the smell."
Could this policeman be the murderer? But what motive would he have to kill her?
"Uh, you look at me like I'm the murderer. I just found some food scraps in her throat."
Kudo Yuji spread his hands, then countered, pointing at Hattori Mamoru with a tone that said, "Are you out of your mind?"
"You actually put your hand into the stomach of a corpse? Who do you think you are, a forensic doctor? I seem to remember only asking you to press on her abdomen."
“Sir, actually, the Osaka police usually allow this kind of behavior that isn’t too outrageous.” Hattori Mamoru opened his arms to his juniors.
“You can ask these kids.” “Really? You assist the police in handling cases, so you can go inside the bodies of the deceased and rummage around?” Kudo Yuji looked at the group of student council members who were gathered together, seemingly disdainfully distancing themselves from Hattori Mamoru. They all shook their heads vigorously.
"What? How is that possible? So you didn't even get free soda at the crime scene?" Hattori Mamoru slapped his head, making everyone's mouths twitch.
"Mrs. Sasaki, would you mind arranging a... more spacious room so that our detective can properly clean himself up, lest I kick him out of the second floor in disgust?"
Kudo Yuji stood on tiptoe, swaying back and forth while kicking his legs.
"Wow, I'd better hurry, I'm starting to lose control."
Sasaki Chiyo also found Hattori Mamoru's smell unbearable, so a maid and Hattori Mamoru quickly disappeared down the second-floor corridor.
Watching the boy's disappearing figure, Kudo Yuji narrowed his eyes, then turned to Conan and remarked to the elementary school student, "At his age, when will he ever find a girlfriend?"
“Ahem, Mr. First Grader, this child has a childhood sweetheart.” Kudo Yuji reminded him, “Normal people would prepare a backup plan for their children in advance, such as arranging for someone they think is suitable to get to know their son from a young age.”
"You mean that young lady who was chatting with you downstairs just now?"
"Actually, he's the young lady's servant."
"Isn't that a boy?" Conan tilted his head, somewhat suspecting that his younger brother was also drunk, or that Hattori Heiji of this era had lost his mind, otherwise why would he arrange for a boy to be his son's childhood friend?
“Hey! This is an era of freedom in love!” Kudo Yuji reminded Conan not to bring outdated views from thirty years ago into the present: “Besides, this is Osaka, the Chengdu of Japan. When it comes to Asia now, Chengdu is number one, and Osaka is number two.”
"Officer, you're talking to a child about this, he won't understand." Conan covered his ears and ran into the room, acting cute.
The student ministers looked at each other, choosing to remain silent and wait for the Osaka police to arrive. However, the lack of any action after so long began to cause complaints among the students.
When will those damn cops arrive and take this abstract thing from Tokyo away? (End of Chapter)
