America gains both fame and fortune

Chapter 49: War on the Set

Chapter 49: War on the Set
The crew's base soon moved from Gray's to the General Motors Production Center.

This large industrial park has been idle since General Motors closed its Atlanta production center in 2000.

After Kelly Gray cooperated with the crew, she rented a large factory and converted it into a studio.

With French director Michel Gondry and more than 20 main cast and crew members arriving in Atlanta, filming of "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" began.

Martin played a small role with rather fragmented scenes, and his main task every day was to put on makeup and wait.

This job is not as easy as it seems. Martin would ask Robert to act with him from time to time to keep up with the action.

He is like the man in the Sacred Valley film, with no sense of existence, but when the director uses him, he must be full of fighting spirit and not as soft as a slug.

It doesn't matter if Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet are not in good shape, those who act with them must make fewer mistakes.

In the actor's lounge, Martin raised his hand and fist-bumped with Robert: "Brother, don't make a fucking mistake."

It was Robert's turn to appear in the next scene, and he said, "I'm an old background artist."

Five or six actors entered the "bookstore" and acted as background.

Robert is in a good position, maybe the camera can capture the front view.

Before filming began, Martin discovered that Robert quietly moved half a step towards Kate Winslet. Judging from the position of the camera, he could definitely be captured by the lens.

He is indeed an old background artist.

It doesn't exceed the requirements and I can show my face.

Being a background artist for Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet is enough to make her a household name in Atlanta for several years.

Maybe the air in the studio was stuffy, or maybe it was those days of a woman's month, Kate Winslet was in extremely bad shape today, and it took her more than a dozen takes to get a simple scene right.

French director Michel can only shoot one scene after another and he can't vent his anger.

After Robert came back, Martin prepared to enter. He had two lines with Kate Winslet and then kissed.

He sprayed breath freshener and entered the set for a brief exchange with Kate Winslet.

Kate Winslet said directly: "I take the initiative and go at my own pace."

Martin said, “I understand.”

The assistant director came over to remind us to move.

Shooting begins.

The hero and heroine are talking. Martin comes from behind the bookshelf, talks to the heroine, and then bends down to kiss her.

The heroine quickly leaned forward and pressed her lips against Martin's.

Michelle called out to stop: "Too shallow! Deep kiss, a deep kiss that expresses love!"

Starting over again, the heroine kissed Martin again.

Michelle was still not satisfied: “Kate, are you going to eat him?”

Once again, he called a halt.

The French are inherently romantic, which makes the director demand perfection from kisses.

After taking the photos more than ten times, Michelle was still not satisfied.

Kate Winslet's condition gets worse as the film goes on.

Martin's lips became numb because the heroine tried all kinds of kisses.

At first, he felt a little bit of joy in his heart. I fucking kissed Ruth.

It quickly became about me and Kate Winslet having a kissing scene.

At this point, Martin had only one thought: The person in front of me is Fat Wen.

After several stops, Michelle couldn't help but say, "Don't stick out your tongue!"

"Who knows what the hell you want?" Kate Winslet exploded. This is a woman who dares to confront Cameron on the set. She directly used her female advantage and fired a cannon: "Put away the boring French men. I've had enough of you in Los Angeles, French men who only take their anger out on women!"

As soon as the British insulted France, Michelle became more and more angry: "You arrogant and rude half-cooked beef, there is no undersea tunnel here, but there is an international airport leading to hell, it is as convenient as Charles de Gaulle Airport!"

Everyone present, including Jim Carrey, quickly hid aside, not wanting to take part in this damn mutual humiliation.

Producer Steve Gowling, screenwriter and producer Charlie Kaufman, and executive producer Louise Mayer all came to the set to mediate.

The crew stopped working, and Martin returned to the rest area. After asking the assistant makeup artist for advice, he took out a wet wipe and wiped it gently.

Robert added insult to injury: "I was a little envious of you at first, but now... it's really not easy for you to come back alive."

It took a while for the three producers to calm down the war.

Martin fixed his costume and returned to the set.

Kate Winslet saw Martin's lips and said politely, "Sorry."

Martin replied softly, "It's okay."

Director Michelle glanced at Martin and asked the makeup artist, "His mouth?" The makeup artist said, "It will take a while."

Michelle couldn't wait for a little actor. After thinking for a moment, she said to her assistant, "Adjust his position."

In another shoot, Martin walked sideways, with his back to the camera and kissed Kate Winslet, and there was no frontal shot.

Martin had no choice but to accept the reality. The director had a quarrel with the heroine, and in the end he was the one who suffered.

Back in the lounge, Robert was very happy: "Although you had lines, you didn't show your face."

Martin's shoot for the day was over, so he could remove his makeup and leave, and the two of them went to the trailer together.

After removing his makeup, Martin asked Robert, "Your scene is over, what are you going to do next?"

Robert said: "I chose the job of the logistics team, mainly transporting food and beverages. I am familiar with this job."

Martin couldn't help but remind him, "Dude, I can't be the leading actor or supporting actor in this crew, so you don't have to work so hard."

Robert didn't want to pay attention to this bastard, so he pointed to the front and said, "Look, isn't that our leading actor?"

Martin looked over there, at the outdoor dressing area set up by the awning. Among the passers-by actors changing clothes, there was a blond handsome guy. After thinking for a moment, he asked, "Adam Smith?"

Robert nodded: "Yes, you were the leading actor in Ma Zhen's play. I didn't expect that you are just a background board like me now."

A mixed-race black woman came out of the dining car next to him and greeted Robert: "Are you done with work today?"

Robert said, "We've finished filming. I'll start doing odd jobs tomorrow."

The black woman turned her eyes to Martin.

Robert introduced casually: "This is Martin, the deputy director of the troupe. Martin, this is Rosa, a former actor of the troupe, who is now back."

Rosa held out her hand to Martin, her chocolate-colored skin smooth as satin: "I remember you."

Martin didn't remember her, but shook her hand politely: "I remember you too."

A black BMW 7 drove to the side of the road, and Kelly Gray, who was dressed in a business suit, got out and waved to Martin.

"There's a friend." Martin said and walked over.

Kelly Gray looked at his mouth and asked, "Why is it hurt here?"

Martin shrugged: "It was a kissing scene. I was so charming that the heroine kissed me until my body was swollen."

Kelly smiled and said, "I have good news for you. Your social investigator has been promoted to a regular employee with a weekly salary of $500."

Martin said, "How can I thank you?"

“No need.” Kelly didn’t shy away from the question, because Martin wasn’t stupid and he knew it after just asking: “I get more.”

Martin also laughed: "When can I become Senator Kelly?"

“There’s still a long way to go,” Kelly Gray said.

Not far away on the other side, Rosa looked at Martin and asked curiously, "Is he familiar with the boss of Gray Films?"

Robert said, "It seems like a friend, but I'm not sure about the details."

Rosa looked at the two people talking and laughing and said, "They are more than familiar with each other."

Robert didn't want to talk more and said vaguely: "Who knows."

Martin turned around, waved to Robert, and followed Kelly Gray back to the studio.

Rosa retracted her gaze and invited Robert: "Shall I invite you to dinner?"

Robert pointed to the dining car: "You didn't eat?"

"No." Rosa took Robert's arm and walked away.

Passing by the open-air dressing area, Adam Smith was taking off his costume and saw Rosa coming over and greeted him: "Hey, Rosa, where are you going?"

Rosa stopped: "Let's go eat."

Adam Smith looked at Rosa's curvy figure, then glanced at the ugly man with a big head following behind him, and smiled charmingly: "That's great, I'm going to have dinner too, I'll treat you?"

Rosa's eyes fell on his passerby costume and she politely declined: "Sorry, I have an appointment."

Adam Smith lowered his head to look at his costume. He wanted to throw it away but it didn't fit. He was used to being the leading man, and now he had to play such a meaningless role as a passerby. The psychological gap was huge.

Ward came over and whispered, "Diego, Poyet's man, called and asked us to pick up the goods in the evening. The ladies from the high-end clubs like the new goods very much."

"I see." The leading actor of Gray Company's late-night drama does not earn a particularly high income. Adam Smith's decent life also comes part-time at high-end clubs and from helping others ship goods.

Ward tentatively asked, "Do you want to cut it off over there?"

Adam Smith didn't care: "A big star like Marlon Brando could put down his pride and do it, so why should I be afraid?" He patted Ward on the shoulder: "It's easy to get on this boat, but it's hard to get off."

I’m used to making money while lying down, so who the hell is willing to stand up?
