Chapter 435 Hopeless

After more than ten years in Hollywood, Casey Affleck considers himself an excellent and patient top hunter when faced with these so-called genius students who are still in school.

He asked, "Will it be my honor to see more of your work?"

"All the works I have completed so far are here." Lily's eyes seemed to be fixed on Cassie, and she kept looking him up and down, carefully observing his body structure to determine the most appropriate places to cut.

Seeing that the girl's eyes were fixed on him, Cassie became more confident; it was obvious that the girl was interested in him.

Lily's eyes were passionate and sincere, and the hand in her pocket was stroking the carving knife quickly.

Cassie sensed Lily's affection for him, so she was more direct and pointed to the sculpture next to her: "I'm lucky enough to get such an outstanding work of art today. I should celebrate. Beautiful Lily Carter, can I invite you to join me?"

Lily smiled very uniquely: "I have to go to the airport to pick someone up later, so I don't have time."

Cassie was not a novice and knew to be patient: "I'll call you another day." He specifically said: "I hope to appreciate your masterpiece again. I like your style very much and want to collect more of your works."

Lily said politely: "Thank you."

Cassie further said: "In a few years, I may not be able to afford your works."

After saying some nice words, he handed Lily his business card which only had a phone number on it.

Lily took it, politely said goodbye and left. During the process, she turned back and took another look at Cassie to determine what constituted self-defense and how many stabs she could do without causing serious injuries.

Cassie smiled decadently and dejectedly, the most charming smile in the art circle.

Lily nodded at him. When she was about to turn out of the exhibition hall, she saw a human sculpture made by someone else in front of her. She couldn't help but stop and gesture with her fingers.

The organizers came to pack up the bust sculpture, and Casillas was watching nearby, thinking in his head what kind of surprise he could use to turn the tables on Martin Davis.

The Affleck brothers received accurate information that Chuck Hogan had signed a contract with Martin Davis and sold the film and television adaptation rights of "Prince of Thieves" to Davis Film and Television Studios.

This was the project they had their eyes on and contacted first, but it was snatched away from them, leaving them with a rage that they had no way to vent.

Before the exhibition ended, Lily asked for leave from her tutor, drove her red Cadillac, and rushed to Los Angeles International Airport.

Martin is coming back from New York today and she is going to pick him up.

When Lily arrived at the terminal exit, she didn't have to wait long before she saw Martin and Bruce coming out pushing their luggage.

She quickly waved to the two of them.

After Martin passed by, he handed a bag to Lily: "Where's the car?"

Lily carried the heavy bag and led the way: "This way."

The three of them put their luggage away and got into the Cadillac. Lily drove out of the parking lot and asked, "Is all the work in New York done?"

"It's done." Martin remembered something very important and reminded him, "When you go to New York next time, clean up the house in Central Park. It's a little messy."

Lily habitually responded, "Okay."

Bruce looked at Martin and then at Lily. One was a bad person and the other was used to it. There was no hope for her.

Martin suddenly thought that he had to be a good person, and added: "You can also find a special housekeeping company to clean it up."

"I understand." After years of habit, Lily felt that doing these things was normal.

The mansion acquired from Pitt is still under renovation, but it has reached the final stage.

Martin still lives in the Coty community.

The Cadillac drove straight into the gate. The house was tidy and clean inside and out.

Martin didn't need to ask, it must be Lily who did it, and said, "I came from New York this time and brought you a gift."

When Lily heard the word "gift", she felt a little overwhelmed. It would be better not to have the gifts from the past.

She said tentatively: "I have enough raw materials now. I carve every day in the school or Warner Studios studio. I don't need to send buffalo horns and saltwater crocodile teeth anymore."

Martin had already opened the suitcase and took out a set of carving knives, handing them to Lily: "For you."

Lily took it, opened it and took a look, and instantly felt that everything she had done was worth it.

Martin put aside the boxes filled with gifts, including ones for Elizabeth, Jolie and Aniston.

The latter two specifically stood up for Lily, so he also had to express his opinion.

Lily was busy all the time. She put away her carving knife, opened a cupboard, took out a few letters and handed them to Martin: "I received them in the mailbox at the door during this period."

Martin took it and looked through it. Most of them were sales advertisements. The only useful ones were letters thrown into the mailbox by two neighbors.

A beautifully packaged DVD from Jenna Jones next door. The cover shows a close-up of her shooting a gun, with a line of big words next to it: "Limitless".

There was a note attached to the back of the DVD. Jenna told Martin that the film had been completed and she had specially sent him a collector's edition.

Martin was very curious about the process of the heroine's search for smart drugs after the protagonist of the Shenggu version was changed to a woman. Searching for smart drugs from genetic material is also a great idea.

I wonder if Jenna is interested in "The Reader" and "Benjamin", especially the latter. What kind of Sacred Valley ideas can she come up with based on the movie?
Men are inevitably curious. It must be exciting to take pictures of Benjamin as an old man and a child.

Martin received a drawer that contained a collector's edition disc, the Sacred Valley version of "Wanted".

Lily came over quietly to take a look and muttered, "How can you give something like this as a gift?"

Martin said: "The Joneses are artists who think differently than others."

"I am also an artist." Lily finished her self-proclaimed self-proclaimed self, and then said: "My thoughts are very normal."

Martin looked at Lily and was too lazy to say anything to her.

He already knew that he always had a carving knife in his pocket.

Another helpful piece of email came from our neighbour across the street, Gillian Flynn, in the form of a handwritten note.

Gillian didn't want to disturb Martin's filming in New York, so she didn't call him rashly. She had written an introduction to the novel mentioned last time, and if Martin came back, she planned to show him the first draft of the beginning.

Martin took the phone and called Jillian. When she answered, he told her directly that he had returned to Los Angeles and was currently at home.

Lily helped Martin and Bruce pack their luggage and talked about what happened before: "You sent me photos of the Affleck brothers last time, remember?"

Martin immediately asked: "Why, are they causing you trouble?"

"Casey Affleck bought me a sculpture today..." Lily quickly recounted what had happened before.

Bruce took over and said to Martin, "They know you are difficult to deal with, so they targeted the younger and inexperienced people around you."

Lily stretched a hand out of her pocket, and the small carving knife circled around her fingertips like a dancing butterfly.

Martin asked, “What do you think?”

Lily actually had an idea: "I was planning to find a place and poke 108 holes in his body with a carving knife, or it was self-defense."

Bruce reminded: "Don't mess around."

"I've seen too many ruffians like him since I was a kid." Lily grew up in a different environment: "Just look at the Clayton community, there are a lot of people who are more dangerous than him."

She suddenly laughed: "Casey Affleck paid a high price to buy one of my sculptures, and also said he was interested in my other sculptures. I think someone like him, even if he is not as rich as Ben Affleck, must be very rich."

Martin knew Lily too well and knew what she wanted to do as soon as he heard her.

Lily said: "I have spent most of the past two years learning and practicing, and have accumulated a lot of practice works. I am very poor, and Casey Affleck is a rich man. In order to be financially independent as soon as possible, I want to try to sell him a few more sculptures."

Bruce finally understood why Elena always treated her sister with iron-fisted care.

If you don't care for it, it will grow completely wrong!
Martin couldn't help but shake his head: "I remember that the salary paid by the Dark Knight crew was not low."

"It's different." Lily knew very well that the work and remuneration of the Dark Knight crew had a lot to do with Martin.

She thought for a while and said, "Let me try. If something goes wrong, I'll withdraw."

Martin looked at Bruce, who nodded at him imperceptibly.

"Okay, just be careful." Martin thought that people could not live in a greenhouse forever.

Lily nodded repeatedly, thinking about how to use this to sell more sculptures at a high price.

You can't give up the opportunity to empty your wallet if you are a stupid customer who comes to you on his own initiative.

Bruce sent a message to the two bodyguards he hired all year round, asking them to assign one of them to follow Lily.

In Los Angeles, a bodyguard's job is much easier.

The doorbell rang and Gillian Flynn was outside the door.

Bruce opened the door and went out to greet the guests, and soon came in with Gillian.

Martin stood up and shook her hand. "I just saw the letter you left. I'm sorry for not contacting you in time."

"You are busy with work, I am being presumptuous." Gillian held some manuscripts in her hands: "I wrote some manuscripts and wanted to share them with others, but I couldn't find the right person. The writers' circle is a mess, and infighting is too common. I dare not show it to my colleagues."

Martin smiled and said, "It seems that my neighbor is trustworthy."

Gillian took the initiative to hand over the manuscript: "The value of my manuscript is at most your few days' pay for the film, or even less."

Martin took it and asked, "Is this the work you told me about, inspired by Agatha Christie's real-life case?"

"Yes, it's the one I mentioned to you." Gillian said embarrassedly: "I can only write in my spare time, and my writing speed is very slow. I have only written the first third in more than a year. The rest may take a year and a half, or even longer, because I don't know if what I write is valuable."
