Chapter 372 Pushing from behind
Chapter 372: Pushing from behind
After the Peachtree Street scenes were wrapped up, the crew returned to Gray Film and Television Center for filming.
Lead actress Maggie Gyllenhaal also joined the filming.
"Stop, this one's passed!"
Behind the director's monitor, Nolan looked at the set that was set up as a cocktail party. Maggie Gyllenhaal walked out holding her chest, as if she was frightened by Martin's performance.
Nolan's excellence is not limited to directing. He immediately called the screenwriter: "Records, Maggie Gyllenhaal was so scared by Martin that she urinated frequently during filming. She didn't dare to speak or look at Martin."
The screenwriter wrote quickly and wrote it down.
Nolan skillfully fabricated behind-the-scenes footage of the crew that was worth hyping up. After thinking for a moment, he said, "Call Michael over."
Not long after, veteran actor Michael Caine came over and asked, "Chris, what do you want to talk to me about?"
Nolan continued to arrange the shooting of the behind-the-scenes footage. As early as in Los Angeles, he agreed with Orlin and Charles Roven to use Martin, who was more capable of stirring up trouble and had stronger commercial appeal, as the core of the publicity: "When we act together later, Michael, you have to be so scared by Martin's performance that you forget your lines."
Michael Caine had worked with Nolan many times, understood his intentions, and said, "No problem, I'll cooperate with you."
A few minutes later, the shooting started again.
This time it was Martin who starred opposite Michael Caine.
When Martin's crazy and cruel smile appeared in front of him, Michael Caine was so scared that he even forgot his lines for a moment.
"Cut!" Nolan called for a stop.
Kane stepped back repeatedly and waited for his assistant to bring him some water. He took a sip of the water and then said, "Sorry, it's my fault."
He looked at Martin, still frightened: "Young man, you are so scary. I just saw a real clown appear in front of me."
At the edge of the set, the screenwriter recorded another tidbit: "Michael Caine was so scared by Martin that he forgot his lines during the filming."
Martin walked up to Kane and asked, "Is everything ok?"
Kane forced a smile: "It's much better now."
Martin was surprised. Was his acting so good?
Bruce had been paying attention to the crew's movements. When Martin sat down on the lounge chair, he said softly, "Nolan just asked Kane to come over and chat for a while."
Martin turned his head and glanced at the director's monitor, and suddenly realized: Nolan is indeed the one who is actively making stunts.
Old acquaintance Morgan Freeman came over alone, sat next to Martin, and said, "This crew is very interesting."
Martin pretended to know nothing and said nonsense: "Am I too scary?"
"No." Freeman showed his signature smile: "On and off the court, in and out of the play, it's all drama, it's exciting."
Martin grinned: "Don't you think it's interesting? It adds a lot of fun to the boring shooting."
Freeman said: "I am old and can't stand the tossing and turning. I will just watch quietly..."
Before he finished speaking, his step-granddaughter came over.
Freeman stood up to leave: "I'm going back to the hotel. We'll talk later."
A man and a woman, one old and one young, left the studio.
Martin asked, "Old Bull, when I get old, will I still have this kind of charm?"
"As long as you have enough money, you can be attractive no matter how old you are." Bruce reminded: "You forgot that Jack Nicholson could attract 17-year-old Jennifer Lawrence."
Martin nodded and saw Sophia coming again: "She and Bell have a lot in common?"
Bruce said softly, "I asked Scott, Sophia will also go out hunting for something new, but she will soon return to him."
Martin sighed: "It turns out that the real winner in life is Scott."
It's a complete win.
While having lunch in the restaurant at noon, Martin chatted with Sofia for a while.
"Did you succeed?" he asked.
Sophia shook her head: "It's a bit difficult. When I was discussing fitness with him, I also asked about his family situation. According to him, he loves his wife very much."
Martin revealed some appropriately: "This should not be the main reason. As far as I know, his sponge has been torn."
"It seems I need to change my strategy." Sophia thought Bell had a problem: "Should I be more proactive and assertive?"
She remembered something: "Bell's wife is coming over, let's wait a few days."
Martin asked, "Come over to visit?"
"That's right." Sophia's hand fell on Martin's shoulder like an iron clamp: "How about doing me a favor? Aren't you good at breaking up couples or boyfriends and girlfriends?"
How could Martin refuse? After all, he was the sponsor!
…………
The next morning, Martin met Bale's wife, Sibby Blachik, on the set.
She was a tall brown-haired woman who looked to be in her early thirties.
During the break, Martin saw Maggie Gyllenhaal coming over to say hello and called Bruce: "Let's go and talk to our good friend Bell and get to know his wife."
He did not forget to remind her: "Bring a gift for meeting you."
Bruce opened the bag he brought, took out a long box, followed Martin, and asked, "What do you want to do?" Martin, wearing clown makeup, turned around and smiled evilly, "I just want to meet my friend's wife."
Bruce felt something was not right.
Before he got there, Martin had already stretched out his arms and said in a most enthusiastic voice, "Chris, is this your wife? Would you like to introduce her?"
When Hibby turned his head, he saw a strange man with a white face, red mouth and his head and neck leaning forward coming towards him. His heart tightened and he subconsciously grabbed Bell's arm.
After all, as a British man, Bale would not throw away his gentlemanly ways in front of others. Although he hated Martin, he still introduced him: "Sibi, this is Martin Davis. Martin, this is my wife Sibi Blachik."
Martin was not polite at all: "Hello, Hibi, welcome to Atlanta." He smiled heartily: "I am from Atlanta, and Chris and I are good friends. If you need anything here, you can come to me."
Hibby smiled and responded, "I will, thank you."
Martin's originally empty hand suddenly turned down, and when he turned it up again, there was a business card between his fingers: "My business card."
Hibby put it away and, out of politeness, gave Martin her own business card.
Bell's face flashed with displeasure, but there were many people around and he also had to take care of his wife's feelings, so he didn't say anything.
Martin collected Hibby's business card and invited her, "Chris, when are you free? I'd like to invite you and Hibby to taste Atlanta cuisine."
Bale stared at Martin. In his eyes, the evil face covered with white paint was even more evil than the clown in the script.
Hibby noticed her husband's unhappiness and said, "Let's talk about it when we have time. I just rushed to Atlanta from Los Angeles. I'm quite tired and need to rest for a few days."
Martin turned around, took the gift box from Bruce, and handed it to Hibby: "Please accept this gift."
Hibby took it: "Thank you."
"Sorry to bother you." Martin bowed slightly to the Bells and left.
Bell took Hibby to his lounge and said as he walked: "Pay attention to Martin Davis on the crew. He has a problem with his brain and is a lunatic."
Hibby heard that her husband was not happy with her and picked up the gift box: "Is it okay to accept this?"
Bell took it and opened it: "See what it is."
Hibby took a look at it, took it out and held it in his hand, but it turned out to be a clown sculpture with a makeup and appearance similar to Martin.
Bell said: "The crew's high-end handicrafts are on hand."
The statue was more than 30 centimeters long. Xibi held the legs just right. He shook it a few times and said, "Why does it feel weird?"
Bell was surprised: "What's strange about that?"
Hibby suddenly thought of some kind of used item: "Nothing."
Bell suggested: "If you don't like it, just throw it away."
"Keep this peripheral product from the crew." Hibby was thinking of something else. Ever since her husband's sponge was torn and injured, his interest in that area has seriously declined. This statue might be of some use to her.
Bell ignored the statue and reiterated: "Be careful of Martin Davis."
…………
Back in the lounge, Martin sat in a chair and temporarily sent away the screenwriter who always followed him.
Bruce was very self-conscious and asked, "What's the matter?"
Martin asked, "I remember the time at Pinewood Studios when Bell had a torn sponge. He's recovered now. How is his relationship with his wife?"
Bruce did not answer, but asked, "Is it true, as Leonardo said, that you are only interested in beautiful women over 30 years old with a regular male companion? Have you been infected by Julie?"
Martin sneered: "How could a noble man like me do such a lowly thing? It's so tasteless! Don't forget, I am a truly noble man now."
There is something clownish about what he said.
Bruce asked, "What are you going to do?"
"People make their own choices." Martin already had an idea: "Madness is everywhere, just like gravity. All we have to do is give people a gentle push from behind, and they will naturally make their choices."
Bruce was compassionate and observed two seconds of silence for Bell, and two seconds later he completely stood on Martin's side.
Martin looked around and saw no one. He said, "Go find Robert and ask him to find some reliable extras from Atlanta. I remember that many of the extras in the crew came from the Marietta company."
Bruce nodded: "I'll make an appointment with Robert later."
Martin whispered for a while.
Bruce completely understood Martin's intention and just gave him a gentle push from behind.
Wait until the crew finishes their break and then resume filming.
Bruce left the studio, found a deserted place, and called Robert.
At noon, the two met on the street outside Gray Film and Television Center.
Robert was wearing a suit and had his hair combed back, revealing his big head, looking like the high priest of the Coca-Cola Cult.
After hearing Bruce's words, he laughed: "This matter is very easy. Many of the extras in the crew are taught by me personally, and they are also firm believers in the Coke God. They are willing to give everything for their beliefs."
Bruce reminded: "This is their own initiative."
Robert nodded: "Of course!"
