Chapter 305: Push Hard

In the studio that was built as a small apartment, the crew cleared the area as Kate requested before filming. Except for a few indispensable personnel in key departments such as the director and director of photography, everyone else was evacuated.

In front of the camera, Martin tore off his clothes in a flash.

He looked at Kate in front of him and rushed forward.

Kate rolled over and pushed the man down.

The two people were entangled.

Director Sam stared at the monitor, frowned, and shouted: "Cut!"

The two people, immersed in the emotions of their characters, were still entangled, and it took more than ten seconds before they stopped.

Martin and Kate's faces were so close together that they could almost see the fire in each other's eyes.

Sam entered the set and the two separated.

"Emotions, actions, none of them are in place!" Sam was completely in work mode, and had long forgotten about husband and wife. He first said to Kate: "You are too passive and gentle. This is a scene led by the heroine, and the active fishing net is released!"

He used hand gestures to emphasize his tone: "You have to push hard! Use the emotions you have suppressed for ten years. Push hard! Do you understand? Push hard!"

Kate said, "I know."

Sam looked at Martin again: "This is not you picking up girls in real life. You are not a Hollywood playboy, but an inexperienced teenager. Inexperienced, understand? How about you now? Even a fool can see that you are experienced! It seems that Kate has taken the initiative, but in fact, everything is controlled by you, which is completely contrary to the setting of your role."

Martin nodded: "I just need to passively bear it?"

"Yes, you just need to passively endure the heroine's violent storm." Sam pointed at Kate and said to Martin: "Do whatever she tells you to do!"

Although it sounded a bit strange coming from the director, Martin immediately responded, "I understand."

The shooting started again, and Martin simply gave up all resistance and let Kate control the rhythm, but after a few beats, Sam called for a stop again.

The director was dissatisfied with the two actors: "You are not emotionally invested enough! Emotions! I can't feel your emotional communication. You are like a temporary couple on the set, with only body but no spirit!"

Martin and Kate had no choice but to let go and wait for the filming to start again before getting entangled again.

Not long after, Sam called a halt again: "This is the scene that requires the most emotional exchange. Without sufficient emotional exchange, what will be the result? A dry, holy-grain movie!"

His voice suddenly rose: "This is the part that requires the most art. Through physical communication, the emotions of the hero and heroine are sublimated and the beauty of art is created! Martin, you are gradually finding the feeling, but Kate, you can't."

Kate took a deep breath: "Let me rest for a while."

Martin subconsciously wanted to pat Kate on the back, but when he reached halfway, he realized that she was not wearing any clothes and this was not the time for filming, so he quickly withdrew his hand and said, "Kate, don't put too much pressure on yourself."

Kate lowered her head and smiled: "You put too much pressure on me."

Martin was helpless: "I can't help it, it's natural."

The two of them picked up their respective blankets, wrapped them around themselves, and sat in the rest area to meditate.

The shooting had not gone smoothly for several days in a row, and director Sam was under a lot of pressure. He sat behind the director's monitor and watched the wasted shots over and over again.

Wife Kate performed poorly in this scene.

In the ordinary scenes shot some time ago, when Martin was in good condition, he could lead Kate into the play, but in these scenes, the setting of the male protagonist determined that he could not lead the female protagonist.

Instead, the heroine should take the initiative.

Kate is needed to guide Martin.

Anthony Minghella came over and asked, "Still not working?"

Sam pointed at the entanglement between Martin and Kate on the monitor and said, "In this scene, the two of them released their passion and formed an emotional bond through physical contact. This was also the beginning of the real change in their relationship, but they... to be more precise, it was Kate. Kate's emotions were a little worse."

He shook his head: "Martin also has problems. He is too proactive. Some instinctive things are difficult to change."

On the other side, Martin is also communicating with Kate.

Kate said: "My sensitive spots are here, here, and here..."

Martin was helpless: "I can't use them in these scenes. I'm just a young boy who knows nothing. I have to rely on you to guide me."

Kate sighed: "I don't know why, but I just can't find that feeling during these two days of shooting."

Feeling is something that cannot be seen or touched, but it is very important to performance.

Martin simply asked: "Do you have an instinctive dislike for me?"

"How is that possible!" Kate said, "In fact, this type of scene has always been difficult for me to shoot. Remember when we were in Atlanta? The kissing scene we shot had to be NGed many times."

Martin remembers that Kate had a big argument with the director at the time.

He said: "There are a lot of similar scenes in this shoot, and we always have to find tacit understanding. It's not a good idea to do NG every day."

Kate thought for a moment and said, "It's mainly because of me. Maybe I want to win an Oscar for this role so much that I feel a lot of pressure. The previous scenes were okay. When you were in a bad state, I could lead you into the scene. When I was in a bad state, you could also lead me into the scene. But now I need to take the initiative and control the rhythm..."

Martin nodded slightly. Even though he was experienced and had a lot of skills, he couldn't perform well in this completely passive role.

Kate said: "Let's all think about how to better establish tacit understanding and achieve that special emotional exchange between the two characters." Martin was also considering it.

Kate was silent for a while, and suddenly said: "Have you heard that when Nicole Kidman starred in Eyes Wide Shut, there was also a passionate scene that was shot many times but the effect was not good. It is said that Stanley Kubrick used some special methods to make her get into the role."

Martin thought to himself, Kate, are you kidding me?
Kate said this, then frowned in thought. This play was too important to her.

The filming started again, and it was intermittent. A whole afternoon passed, and only less than five shots were shot.

Director Sam was very annoyed and had an argument with Kate on the set.

Kate has a hot-tempered personality and directly confronts Sam.

Martin ran between the two men and acted as a peacemaker to prevent the fight from getting out of hand.

This week's work ended with a quarrel between the couple.

This weekend, as there was no filming for the male lead in the first two days of next week, Martin originally wanted to go to New York, but when he called, Blake Lively had returned to Los Angeles.

Over the past six months, the two have been together less and less, and even talk less.

Blake was silent for a while on the phone, and suddenly said: "When you were in Los Angeles, I went to New York. I finally finished my work and returned to Los Angeles, and you went to London..."

No matter how outstanding a man is, after living with him, eating, drinking, defecating, urinating, and sleeping, his halo made of gold will fade.

As a female fan who successfully slept with her idol, Blake is already satisfied. She still has a good impression of Martin and has relatively good memories of him. She decides to keep the good memories of her idol in her heart forever.

So, she said, "I'm going to move back home to Burbank. I haven't lived with my parents and brother for a long time."

Martin understood what this meant, and he stuck to his principles and faced it calmly: "Okay, I can't go back to Los Angeles in the short term."

Blake hung up the phone.

Bruce brought him a glass of ice water and said, "Can't bear to part with it? Just go get it back. With your means, it won't be difficult."

Martin picked up the cup, drank the cold water, and the annoyance in his heart disappeared. He said, "Let's find a place tonight and have a drink together. Invite Kate and Sam..."

Before he could finish his words, the phone rang again, and the caller was actually Leonardo.

Martin answered and asked, "Are you planning to come to London?"

Leonardo said: "I'm at the airport, waiting for Jack to come over. The Mamma Mia crew had a few days off, and Meryl specifically called Jack and asked him to come over to visit, so I followed along."

Martin is very aware of being a younger brother: "Jack is our boss. He has come all the way to London to visit his lover. Leo, we, as younger brothers, must prepare gifts well."

Leonardo asked, "Are you ready?"

Martin vowed: "Of course I am ready and I will never let Jack down."

Leonardo said: "If you let me down, I will call Blake and tell you which girls you have picked up."

Martin sighed softly: "We broke up."

"Dude, you're free!" Leonardo sent his heartfelt blessing: "Happy breakup! Happy singleness!"

Thinking that they were now alone and that a special fate could come at any time, Martin's mood improved significantly: "Call me when you get to London."

Bruce saw Martin put down his phone and said, "I have prepared everything and will temporarily store it in the warehouse of the prop team."

Martin asked, "Will that be a problem?"

Bruce said: "It's so easy to weld a few steel pipes together."

Martin was the first to get out of the trailer: "Let's go get the stuff out. We'll find a place to test it first."

The two went to the prop group and took out two bags from the warehouse.

One of the bags contained firecrackers.

Not the scary type of rabbits.

"I had it custom made." When Bruce was in the army, he was stationed in the UK and bullied British soldiers with mortars. He knew a lot of people here: "The charge is accurate to the gram, and the height of the explosion after ignition is not much different."

Martin got on the electric car with a bag: "Jack will definitely like it."

Bruce drove northwest and went out of the north gate of the studio. There was a group of dilapidated buildings that no one was waiting to demolish, so he could put them there as much as he wanted.

He said, "You three are really bad guys. You can really mess things up."

Martin laughed: "Happiness is not only about actively looking for it, but also about actively creating it. Life is so depressing, so of course we have to maintain an optimistic attitude."

When passing by the crew's studio, Kate came out and saw Martin and Bruce doing something fun, and expressed her desire to join in.

The electric car carried three people away.

Not long after, there was a dull explosion in the distance, followed by a sound like a salute in the sky and a cloud of colorful mist.
