Chapter 112 New Tricks and New Ways to Play

Chapter 112 New Tricks and New Ways to Play (Leader Plus 11)

The fashion party was held in a luxurious manor in Beverly Hills. Bruce drove a Volkswagen sedan, following behind Louise's Bentley, so that he could support Martin at any time.

When the car arrived at the gate of the manor, Bruce was so happy to see Louise, who was dressed up, walking in with Martin's arm around her.

I've been fed too much recently and feel like vomiting.

The vestibule layout for the party was stylish and typical, with the hostess Joanna standing in front of the fountain to greet the guests.

Kate Winslet had been waiting for Louise. When she saw her coming over with Martin, she quickly walked over and hugged her friend: "You look so beautiful tonight."

Then he turned to Martin and said, "Handsome guy, you finally came to Los Angeles to develop... Let me take a closer look, you and Louise are simply a perfect match."

Martin, like a gentleman, took Kate's hand and kissed the back of it gently: "Beautiful English rose, can we dance together later?"

"No problem." Kate led the way: "I'll introduce you."

Louise nodded: "It's better for you to introduce yourself formally than for me to rush over."

The three of them walked to the fountain, and Kate introduced Louise and Martin to Joanna, who was also from the UK.

Harvey Weinstein also came over and chatted with Louise for a few words.

Soon, Martin and the other two left and walked towards the crowd.

Louise asked, "Kate, are you going to use the power of Harvey Weinstein?"

Kate shook her head: "It's useless this time. The movie is not his, how can he help?" She wanted to win the Oscar for Best Actress: "Let's wait for the future. If it doesn't work this time, Joanna can help me a little."

Louise's sincere advice: "Find a psychopath or an ugly character."

Kate couldn't help laughing and looked at Martin: "Remember you said this last time."

This was not a joke. Martin knew himself well: "I don't even know which way the college gate opens."

Kate came over and took Louise's arm: "Can I borrow your female companion to talk for a few words?"

Martin automatically slowed down.

Kate whispered, "If Harvey Weinstein comes to you privately, make sure Martin is with you."

Louise understood what she meant: "I will not cooperate with him, and I have no interest in cooperating with him."

"If possible, I don't want to." Kate said the same thing: "If you don't win an Oscar, you will always be missing something."

All Louise could say was, "I hope your dream will come true soon."

Kate gestured unconsciously: "Because I got a high box office, I was discriminated against by a group of old men who have no commercial achievements. Where can I seek justice?"

"Let's not talk about these troubles." Louise lowered her voice and said, "Do me a favor later."

She and Kate whispered for a long time before stopping.

Kate agreed: "Okay, it has nothing to do with you. It's mainly because Martin treated me well in Atlanta."

Louise's expression changed instantly, and her wantonness couldn't even be suppressed by her formal evening dress: "What? Sam can't satisfy you? Kate, I don't mind if you join in, and Martin certainly doesn't mind either."

Kate dropped her arm. "I'm going to find Wes Craven."

Martin followed from behind and asked, "Can you do it?"

Louise said, "Do you think Kate has a problem with her acting?"

Martin vaguely saw the tall Wes Craven and pulled Louise up: "Let's go from the other side."

Louise asked, "Are you sure it will work?"

"Not sure. You said Wes Craven likes group parties, so I'll give it a try." Martin said the same thing: "Try your best. If it doesn't work, quit."

He whispered, "You've put out a lot of money here, and I won't be competing in the short term. I have to think of a way too. Am I really going to let you support me? What if you squeeze me dry and kick me out?"

The two of them walked around in a circle, and waited until Kate started talking to Wes Craven before walking slowly towards that direction, greeting people along the way, just like normal people socializing.

In addition to Kate, Wes Craven's small circle includes two other people, David Arquette and Courteney Cox, actors from the "Scream" series.

The latter is one of the heroines of "Friends" and is very famous.

These guys are discussing horror movies.

Martin and Louise came over, and Louise greeted Kate: "So you are here."

Kate smiled and said, "I ran into Wes. David and Courtney happened to come over, so we talked about horror movies together."

Craven looked at Louise briefly and said, "You are Mel's daughter."

Louise said, "Yes, my father has mentioned you several times. He is a big fan of the Nightmare on Elm Street series."

Then she introduced Martin.

Even if they don't know each other, everyone will pay attention to the male companion brought to formal occasions. If Martin himself could not participate in such a circle, he could only rely on Louise's influence.

It’s not wrong to say that he was kept.

After a few brief greetings, Kate glanced at Martin and Louise, and immediately turned the topic back to horror movies: "The first Scream summarized the clichés of a series of horror movies, but in the end, it still followed these old paths."

Craven agrees: "It is difficult for American horror films to innovate today. The Scream series is just old wine in a new bottle, except that the killing methods are more unexpected, the murderer's identity is more special, and the reason for the killing is more outrageous..."

Courtney continued: "Some Eastern horror elements are good. DreamWorks adapted a Japanese horror film."

Craven said: "The response was average. The culture is different and the market acceptance is different."

Louise said from an investor's perspective: "There is still an audience for traditional plasma films, and these films have been selling well in the past two years."

Martin also weighed in: "Final Destination was a good idea, but the sequel is also stereotyped."

Louise said: "It's difficult to create a new horror movie model, especially when it comes to investors."

Craven agrees: "No one is willing to invest. No matter how good the idea is, it is just an idea. Production companies tend to be conservative and just want to continue the successful model. Innovation means huge unknown risks."

Martin said: "So, Freddy and Jason made movie after movie."

Kate spoke less now that Martin and Louise had joined in the conversation.

Louise added: "Last year we also filmed a Freddy vs. Jason movie. I actually think it's interesting to put monsters from different movies together."

Craven is the screenwriter and producer of the film: "It is also a moderate innovation within the conservative context."

Martin continued, "What about integrating more horror monsters into one movie? For example, giant pythons, unicorns, tooth fairies, killers, giant bats, ghosts, zombies, witches, werewolves, etc. Find a suitable story and idea, put them into a movie, and make a big killing spree. Will horror movie fans be thrilled?"

Craven imagined it in his mind: "It's a bit confusing. I can't imagine it right now."

"This is just my humble opinion." Martin looked at Louise and said, "For next week's costume party, how about I make it a horror monster theme? It's exciting to think about all kinds of horror monsters wandering around in the dark night."

Louise said, "You decide."

Kate offered an assist: "It sounds interesting, can I join in?"

Martin said, "Of course, it's my pleasure." He took the opportunity to extend an invitation: "David, Wes, Courtney, if you are interested, you can also come."

Louise smiled and said, "He always likes to brag about being the king of the party and coming up with new and fancy tricks. You be the judge."

David and Courtney asked about the time and just said they would attend if they were free.

Craven liked parties, but he had attended less in the past two years, mainly because there was not enough fresh stimulation. After hearing Martin's words, he became interested and said seriously, "You can get a bunch of scary monsters out. I can see how they work together."

Martin was a man of high character, so his words immediately became more noble: "I have also participated in the production of horror films, and we are just organizing a special horror film themed seminar."

Craven had to maintain his dignity in front of others: "This topic is worth studying."

Louise took out her and Martin's business cards, exchanged them with Craven, agreed on a time, and said to everyone, "I will send out the formal invitation next Monday."

The few people had a great conversation and chatted for a while before dispersing.

After a while, Louise said goodbye to Joanna, using the excuse that she had something to do at home.

Martin and she came to the parking lot, but instead of getting in the Bentley, he called Bruce.

When the Volkswagen arrived, Martin asked, "I'm planning to rent the villa in Malibu where Entourage was filmed last time. I'll pay for it myself, but I don't have any professional help here. Can you give me a hand?"

Louise reminded: "Your debt to me is growing."

Martin simply said, "Pay it with your body."

Louise opened the door of the Volkswagen, pushed Martin in, and said to the driver: "Old Bull, throw this piece of junk into the Malibu Sea, and I'll pay you later."

Bruce turned around and smiled: "Don't worry about what civilized people do."

Martin got in the car, took out a small notebook and handed it to Louise: "See if you can pay off your debts?"

Louise opened it and took a look, then smiled with satisfaction: "Old Bull, let's spare his life for now."

The Volkswagen door closed and it sped away.

Louise got in the car and called her assistant: "Nikki, rent a villa in Malibu as soon as possible."

Bruce drove out of Beverly Hills and headed northeast along the highway. He asked, "The investment will be very high this time. Are you sure you can make it back?"

"Investing now is for higher income in the future." Martin took out his cell phone and called Jenna Jameson.

According to Louise's description, Wes Craven prefers group parties rather than purely horror masquerade balls.

Even if a Hollywood modeling agency is willing to take the job, the fees would be very high.

Martin called Jenna Jameson in the afternoon. To make sure the party would go ahead, he had to find a professional: "Sorry, Jenna, I made you wait so late. Old Bull and I are on our way to the San Fernando Valley. There are a lot of cars on the road. It will probably take about an hour to get there."
