As for the protagonist's rebirth, why does he do those stupid things in college when he is obviously mentally mature? Frankly speaking, I have never been to college, and I can only fantasize about this. According to my fantasy, if I were reborn to those universities, I would definitely want to try those stupid things. It has nothing to do with maturity or not. There will be other plots to tell the story of the protagonist's maturity and rationality. But I think since it is about college, it would be a pity not to see those wonderful fraternities.
