Mystery: Starting from Meeting Amon

Chapter 24 More Professional Than the Opposite Detective

Chapter 24 More Professional Than the Opposite Detective
Seeing Mr. Bernie's not-so-tall figure leaving through the open door, Lewis thought for a moment, then he rewrote the words on the shop transfer sign left by Mrs. Kama, and then closed the door.

A wooden sign was hung on the door of the detective agency, with the words "More professional than the detective across the street" written on it.

At noon, Lewis had an idea. He turned on his spiritual vision and saw the four-foot-tall skeleton messenger crawling out from under the floor. It bent down in a humane manner and handed the letter to Lewis.

"Such a nice attitude today? This is totally not the demeanor you should have had yesterday." Lewis secretly complained about the messenger. He remembered that Mr. Azik seemed to have more than one messenger, but a group.

Obviously, the one today is not the same one as yesterday.

"I hope it's you who delivers the letter next time." Lewis took the letter from Mr. Azik and sincerely thanked the messenger.

The Skeleton Messenger turned around and transformed into illusory fountains of bones, falling beneath the floor.

After opening the letter, Lewis saw Mr. Azik's handwriting.

“Thank you very much for your letter. Your paintings are so good that I even doubted for a moment that you were a professional painter.

But I’m sorry, I’m just an associate professor of history and I don’t know how to appreciate it, so I had to hang the painting in my office.”

Lewis twitched his mouth in embarrassment. He didn’t intend to send the painting, but the bad-tempered skeleton messenger took it away by force.

"It seems that Mr. Azik has not received my letter yet. The postman's speed is still too slow."

After thinking about it, Lewis decided to write a new letter to Mr. Azik. After all, helping Mr. Azik regain his memory was also to help himself.

After preparing the letter paper and envelope, Lewis took out the silver fountain pen and began to write...

Suddenly, he was inspired. He put away the letter and silver pen, and pretended to be serious while reading today's news reports.

A woman wearing a beret pushed the door open and came in. She looked at Lewis with an anxious look on her face.

Lewis quickly put away the paper and pen. He looked at the young lady with long golden hair and asked in a deep voice, "Miss, do you need help?"

"Mr. Lewis, my cat is lost. It is a stupid cat with short blue hair that can never catch mice."

So, the cat you are talking about is Tom? ... Lewis raised the corners of his mouth and thought of the blue cat.

However, he did not intend to take this business. The first mission in his detective career was to find a cat, which would damage the image of a famous detective.

“Sorry, I guess I’m not good at it.” Lewis put down the newspaper and refused coldly.

"The cat's name is John. If you can help me find it, I'll pay you five pounds." The blonde lady ignored Lewis's refusal, took out her wallet, and took out five one-pound notes from her bulging wallet and handed them to Lewis.

"Sir, what did you mean? You are not good at it?" The blonde lady noticed what Lewis said just now and added, "I mean, I am not good at failure." Lewis only took four pounds and pushed the other pound back, saying, "I need information about the cat, preferably the hair or items it left behind. A detective can judge a cat's habits and even infer a cat's hobbies through these things."

"You are such a rigorous detective. A real detective should have your professional qualities." The lady took back the one pound and handed Lewis the bell that her pet cat had worn.

"Come before the sun sets and I'll find your pet 'John' soon." Lewis took off his hat and winked at the lady.

Of course, if he hadn't found the cat by evening, it would mean that it would be difficult for him to find the cat in the future.

"Looking forward to hearing from you." The blonde lady left Lewis Detective Agency. She hoped that Lewis was really more professional than the detective on the other side.

After all, Detective Bernie across the street had been looking for 'John' for a week and had charged her eight pounds for the commission, which was not good news.

Lewis wrote the divination phrase "John Cat's location" on the slip of paper with a fountain pen. His mind gradually emptied out, and he fell asleep, holding the bell in one hand and the slip of paper in the other.

Passing through the pure white before you, you can see a chaotic street scene.

At the entrance of the block, Lewis could see vendors selling fried fish and ginger beer, wearing dirty old clothes and shouting at the top of their lungs to make their voices louder. Suddenly, a blue cat passed behind the vendor and stole a small dried fish.

The scene changed, and Lewis saw the location of a bachelor apartment. The apartment had dilapidated wooden stairs and handrails. It seemed that as long as he walked up, there was a risk of stepping into empty space.

The scene changed again, and Lewis saw a dim room with only a little sunlight shining in.

There was a ragged little girl in the room, a lady with a black scar on the right corner of her eye who was washing piles of dirty clothes, and there was another person in the small room, a middle-aged man with a sallow face and lifeless appearance. His right foot seemed to be broken and was tied with a layer of dirty rags with flies flying around it.

Under the bunk bed where the man was lying, a blue cat was tied there. It crouched quietly in the shadows, making threatening noises.

Lewis woke up from his sleep and realized that the John Cat incident did not involve any supernatural factors. All he had to do next was to use the divination stick to find the approximate location, and then search according to the characteristics in the dream.

“Wait, I still have to send a letter to Mr. Azik. It’s very important.” Having just changed into his suit, Lewis rubbed his forehead. His memory has been getting worse recently, and he always feels that something is wrong.

Lewis continued to take out the pen, he finished writing the letter, told Azik the news about the town of Durham, and hoped to take Mr. Azik there.

The copper whistle was blown, and a skeleton messenger emerged from under the floor. The messenger, about four meters tall, looked down at Lewis until Lewis threw the letter, and then it caught it.

As the skeleton messenger turned into an illusory fountain waterfall and disappeared, Lewis frowned. For a moment, he really wanted to use the skeleton messenger to block the knife. This was the revenge that a time traveler deserved.

Without wasting too much time, Lewis locked the door of the detective agency, and then followed the divination method all the way to the lower street of Iron Cross Street.

At the entrance to the street, vendors sold fried fish and ginger beer, shouting slogans from Lewis's dream.
