Mystery: Starting from Meeting Amon
Chapter 22 It's delayed
Chapter 22 It's delayed
Leonard didn't dare to look at Klein again because he felt guilty. He left Mr. Gawain's yard, made sure Klein didn't follow him out, and whispered to his body:
"Old man, what did you mean by your reaction just now? Is there something going on in the yard?"
"No, I just detected an extremely annoying idiot who likes to threaten the elderly." Pales' low voice came, mixed with subtle anger.
"That old man can't be you, right?" Leonard asked subconsciously, and then realized that he was overthinking.
The one parasitic in his body is an angel, how could he be threatened by a fool?
However, the old man seemed really unhappy, as if he had been ripped off by someone.
……
Lewis, who had a bad memory, triggered the monster's natural sense of touch. He returned home, held the Azik copper whistle in his hand, made a sealed spiritual wall, and then wrote down the divination statement with a silver pen.
"As far as I can remember, this is the castle where Mr. Azik once lived."
Lewis gradually became spiritually empty and fell asleep. He saw a spire church illuminated by the afterglow of the sun and could hear the bishop's sermon and prayers near the church.
Then, the scene suddenly changed, and he saw a gloomy castle. Inside the castle was a portrait, and the person in the portrait was none other than Mr. Azik.
"The Church of the Goddess, a small town surrounded by mountains." Lewis woke up from his dream, he wrote down the characteristics of the environment, and used divination to draw the scene in his dream.
With these conditions, it is not difficult to find out the exact location of the town by just asking any detective.
However, there are not many private detectives in Tingen City. Lewis took some effort to find a formal-looking private detective agency in the Night Vanilla District.
He pushed open the door and saw a middle-aged man with a mustache and a pipe sitting in front of a mahogany coffee table. His name was Bernie Cooper. The detective looked very experienced.
"Mr. Bernie, I want to find a place. This should not be difficult for you." Lewis took out the scroll and placed it in front of Bernie.
"The commission fee is ten pounds. In addition, you need to pay me the printing fee and the intelligence collection fee, estimated at two pounds." Bernie took the pipe in his hand and said coldly.
Lewis twitched his lips. This detective was indeed very experienced. At least, he had a lot of experience in killing people.
"Five soles. I just want to know the location in the painting. It's in Tingen. You are not irreplaceable." Lewis took out five banknotes from his pocket and slapped them on the table.
The detective's fee was indeed expensive, but considering that five soli should be enough to make the detective talk, he didn't take too much.
"You are such a shrewd gentleman. I think your sincerity has touched me." Bernie put the five-sol note into his wallet and pointed to the location on the scroll and said, "This is the Church of the Goddess of the Night in Durham, located northwest of Tingen."
"Is that all? He doesn't need to look up information or go to the police station?"
Lewis felt like he was being slaughtered. He put away the scroll, frowned and said with emotion: “No, you are much smarter than I thought.”
Lewis returned home and started writing a letter. He didn't have much money left since Amon's clone left. Whether it was an envelope that cost a penny or a piece of letter paper that cost a quarter of a penny, it seemed so expensive to him.
“It seems that I should find a way to make money. Otherwise, I should join the divination club? Klein only charges eight pence, but I can charge one pound. People who really need divination will never care about a one-pound fee.” Lewis couldn’t help thinking.
While thinking about how to kill people, Lewis blew the copper whistle and waited for Mr. Azik's messenger. After waiting for about ten minutes, Lewis began to wonder because the imagined spiritual messenger did not appear.
"Is it because Mr. Azik hasn't recovered his strength yet? The copper whistle can't be summoned for the time being?"
Lewis sighed, left home, put a two-penny stamp on the envelope, and dropped the letter into the mailbox at his doorstep, hoping the postman would come and pick it up soon.
When Lewis finished doing all this and returned to the room, he saw a four-meter-tall skeleton messenger made entirely of bones, with black flames flickering in his eye sockets.
The height of the messenger was higher than the roof of Lewis's house, so Lewis could only see the body part of the messenger.
"Is there a delay?" Lewis twitched his lips. It was the first time he knew that a messenger could be late.
The messenger and the man were in a stalemate for a few seconds, and the messenger stretched out his bone claws, as if asking Lewis for a letter.
Lewis stretched out his hand. The letter had already been put into the mailbox outside the door. Now he only had a divination scroll in his hand, which contained the Goddess Church of Durham.
Suddenly, the messenger stretched out his claws, took the scroll from Lewis's hand, and then collapsed into a hazy white skeleton and disappeared from sight.
"Hey! That's not that thing!" Lewis chased after it, but it was too late.
"Mr. Azik should be able to understand." Lewis sighed. Things would not always go so smoothly, but it was not a big problem. Mr. Azik should be able to see the letter tomorrow. He looked forward to Mr. Azik's reply.
After tidying up the items in the room and searching through his "property", Lewis only found thirty pounds of banknotes, which was not a considerable amount of property for him who often performed occult rituals.
If he continues to eat and wait for death, he won't have enough to eat in a few days at most.
"Fortunately, the house is not rented, but an inheritance left by my adoptive parents." Lewis suddenly felt fortunate. At least, the situation was not that bad, and he still had some permanent property.
However, he had to find a way to make money, or convert his faith to the Eternal Sun and pray for some money, believing that a wealthy god would not be reluctant to part with a small amount of money.
"It would be better to open a detective agency. It should be very profitable." Lewis couldn't help but think of Bernie Cooper. The detective cheated him out of five soli with just a few words. This was by no means a small amount of money.
Furthermore, detective work is a profession that requires the use of rationality, which will be beneficial to the role of the "machine".
"A detective who can tell fortunes, is good at precise calculations and reasoning, and has great talents in shooting and fighting, the price shouldn't be too low." Lewis changed into a suit, put on a top hat, and cheered for his choice.
Without further ado, Lewis went out and looked for vacant shops in the Night Vanilla District.
At this moment, the scorching sun was already setting, the dome of the Cathedral of St. Selina was shining golden, and the steam train in the distance was emitting thick smoke that dissipated into the air.
As he walked, Lewis saw a bakery opposite the Bernie Detective Agency that was not doing well. Through the glass window, he could see cakes in the cabinet that were close to expiring. On the sign hanging at the door of the bakery were words like "Shop Transfer".
