Chapter 1899 Spread
"This isn't a wedding invitation for the Fang family," Fang Zilan said helplessly. "It's for the Prince Zhongzheng of Miluo and his wife."

Awan remained noncommittal, while Fang Zilan said directly, "The young master's health is naturally not good enough to accept it, but I have no taboos, so I will accept it."

"You even called me superstitious about feng shui," Awan couldn't help but mutter. "Isn't that superstition too?"

Fang Zilan chuckled softly, "Of course not."

"What is that?" Awan asked, looking unconvinced. Fang Zilan drawled, "It's an excuse."

“The young master is unwell, and you’re in the same boat.” A-Wan sat down. “If you ask me, you shouldn’t accept it either.”

"Really?" Fang Zilan's smile faded as she walked over and sat down next to Awan. Only then did Awan notice the splash of red by the window and couldn't help but ask, "Why is there another wedding invitation?"

Fang Zilan waved her hand, and the wedding invitation landed in front of Awan. "Open it and take a look."

Awan hesitated, but couldn't suppress her curiosity. However, the moment she picked up the wedding invitation and opened it, she was shocked. The invitation slipped from her hand and fell to the ground.

"This is..." A-Wan gripped the edge of the table, her hands trembling uncontrollably, "Who gave it to you?"

"Wen Ran." Fang Zilan glanced at the wedding invitation spread out on the ground. Among the names of the invited guests, the one that stood out was "Zi Xiu".

“How dare he…” A-Wan slammed her hand on the table and stood up abruptly. “You wait here, I’m going right now…”

"Going there to do what, poison him?" Fang Zilan interrupted Awan, her expression froze, "I..."

"The Wen family of Lingnan may not be any less skilled in using poison than you," Fang Zilan narrowed her eyes. "Wen Ran previously spread the news that Zixiu killed his elder brother, Lord Wen. However, in court, he dared not say so, only that he died of illness. Do you know why?"

After a moment's thought, Awan said, "Does this mean that Lord Wen's death was suspicious and couldn't withstand close investigation?"

"Sit down and talk." Fang Zilan looked up at Awan, who sat down reluctantly. "Was I wrong?"

“I’ve known Wen Ran for quite some time now. Although he’s not perfect, he’s far more thorough than most people when it comes to doing things,” Fang Zilan said calmly. “Moreover, he said that Lord Wen has a fatal wound and a deadly poison.”

“If that’s the case, the real cause of Lord Wen’s death won’t be easy to find out.” Awan thought for a moment. “If it’s unrelated to Lord Wen’s death, then it means Wen Ran only dares to do things behind the scenes…”

She stopped halfway through her sentence, then exclaimed "Oh!" as if suddenly realizing something. "I know! The person who spread the rumor that the Crown Prince's wife was Zi Xiu was Wen Ran!"

The three traveled day and night and arrived quickly. Fang Zilan, holding the token of a high-ranking official, entered the central military tent without any hindrance.

The three entered the tent. After Fang Zilan showed Li Shengxuan's edict to General Shen, who was in charge of the camp, and verified the white jade tiger tally, he took out the other half of the white jade tiger tally that he held and handed it to Fang Zilan, saying solemnly, "I entrust everything to Lord Fang."

"It is my duty to obey His Majesty's command." Fang Zilan gripped the tiger tally tightly in her hand, its white jade-like surface feeling much heavier than she had anticipated.

Seeing that she remained silent for a long time, General Shen couldn't help but ask, "Mo Bin has rebelled. What are Lord Fang's intentions?"

"I intend to infiltrate Mushan Pass first, investigate the reasons for Mo Bin's rebellion, and then make further plans." Fang Zilan calmly put away the white jade tiger tally, bowed to General Shen, and said, "Until then, I ask General Shen to remain still and not reveal my whereabouts to anyone." "Rest assured, Lord Fang, the news that His Majesty has sent a special envoy to inspect the southeastern regions has only just spread. Even the identity of the envoy in the capital is still undecided. No one will know that Lord Fang has already arrived." General Shen replied quickly, but Fang Zilan was taken aback. "A special envoy?"

"His Majesty's instruction must be for Lord Fang's sake." General Shen's words were concise, and Fang Zilan immediately understood Li Shengxuan's intention.

Before fully understanding the situation, she absolutely could not alert the enemy, so concealing her whereabouts was perfectly understandable. However, once the rebellion was quelled, it would have to be done legitimately. The news of the special envoy from the capital served two purposes: firstly, to send a warning, and secondly, to create momentum for her future efforts to quell the rebellion—a well-intentioned but deliberate move.

"I understand." Fang Zilan nodded slightly, then changed the subject, "May I ask, General Shen, what is the current situation at Mushan Pass?"

"Martial law is in effect throughout the city. Anyone entering or leaving must have Mo Bin's warrant." General Shen looked troubled. "Our men finally managed to get Mo Bin's warrant, but they were discovered when they tried to sneak into the city and are now imprisoned in the city's jail."

Fang Zilan couldn't help but ask curiously, "How were you discovered?"

“It’s Mo Bin’s youngest son, Mo Han.” General Shen said with a sigh, “That kid has a photographic memory. Most of the people in the Southeast Camp have met him. With him keeping an eye on things for Mo Bin, our people simply can’t infiltrate.”

"Who did you say?" Fang Zilan blurted out instinctively, her expression one of unprecedented disarray.

"Mo Han," General Shen repeated, "Does Lord Fang know this person?"

"I..." Fang Zilan was momentarily stunned. When she heard the name just now, she really thought it was her own cousin—Mo Han.

However, she recovered quickly and inwardly mocked herself for being delusional.

She's been here for so long, yet she still stubbornly clings to her original world. A mere name is enough to throw her into disarray and cause her to waver so drastically.

She composed herself and comforted herself that it was just a coincidence of names, and that she must not be soft-hearted or disregard the lives of others because of strangers.

Seeing that she remained silent, General Shen tentatively called out, "Lord Fang?"

"It's nothing." Fang Zilan shook her head abruptly. "Although the name sounds familiar, I've never been to Mushan Pass before, so I don't think I would know anyone as Mo Bin's son."

The name Mo Han came out of her mouth but became Mo Bin's son. She smiled bitterly to herself, and for some reason, she suddenly felt a pang of longing.

Overwhelmed by longing, she clenched her fists into her hands hidden in her sleeves, trying to banish all memories of Mo Han and the original world from her mind, but to no avail.

"If Lord Fang has never met Mo Han, it would be much easier to infiltrate Mushan Pass." General Shen felt somewhat relieved and immediately sent his deputy to bring over Mo Bin's warrant.

Fang Zilan took the order from Mo Bin, handed it to Deputy General Cao without even looking at it, and said, "If there's nothing else, I'll take my leave. Please wait for good news, General Shen."

"Thank you for your trouble, Lord Fang." General Shen clasped his hands in a salute. "If you have any needs, please bring the white jade tiger tally to the southeast camp. We will go through fire and water for you."

Fang Zilan returned the greeting, then led Awan and Deputy General Cao out of the Southeast Camp without looking back, heading straight for Mushan Pass.

The three of them rode at full speed to the nearest village to Mushan Pass. While resting, Fang Zilan and Deputy General Cao discussed selling their horses. "According to General Shen, Mushan Pass is under martial law. If we ride horses into the pass, it might be too conspicuous."
