Chapter 1829 Recommendation
“You are not Wen Ji,” Fang Zilan said coldly. “Or rather, you are more than just Wen Ran’s follower, Wen Ji.”

"What do you mean by that, Miss Zixiu?" Wen Ji frowned, and Fang Zilan tightened her grip on the knife. "I thought your voice sounded familiar, but I've heard it more than just in the Wen family."

Wen Ji remained silent, so Fang Zilan continued, "You are from the Ghost Gate."

She spoke with such certainty that A-Wan exclaimed in surprise, "I remember now! When I was treating Young Master Wen, I vaguely heard someone call my name, A-Wan. In my haste, I thought it was just my imagination. Could it be you?"

"It's me." Wenji said quietly, "Little Awan, remember to make your story more convincing next time you impersonate the young master's wife, that old-fashioned, well-worn-out excuse. Otherwise, if you get exposed, even the young master might not be able to save you. Don't you agree, Zixiu?"

"You know me?" Fang Zilan became wary, and Wen Ji laughed self-deprecatingly, "In the Ghost Gate, who doesn't know Zixiu? It's just that Zixiu doesn't know me."

Fang Zilan remained unmoved and questioned, "Young Master, what is your intention in placing you by Wen Ran's side?"

“Zixiu, since you have already betrayed the Ghost Gate, why ask any more questions?” Wenji suddenly raised his hand and gripped the back of Fang Zilan’s knife. “Why don’t I send you off on your final journey?”

“I could guess even if you didn’t say it.” Fang Zilan’s face remained expressionless. A flash of silver light appeared at the tip of her other finger, and Wen Ji immediately stopped in his tracks, unable to move. “You…”

His lips moved with great difficulty, his whole body felt numb, but his mind was exceptionally clear.

Seeing this, Fang Zilan said calmly, "I advise you not to move around recklessly, lest you become unable to move at all later."

Wen Ji took a deep breath and listened as Fang Zilan continued, "I'm asking you, where is Wen Ran now?"

"You could have guessed it, couldn't you?" Wenji retorted, her voice sharp with annoyance. "But by the time you figure it out, you'll probably only be able to collect Wen Ran's corpse."

“The Wen family is the maternal family of the former Consort Shu. In the eyes of the world, they are the support of Prince Yu Ning, but he cannot accept them.” Fang Zilan moved her wrist slightly, and the knife left a bloody mark on Wen Ji’s neck. “Tell me, if not a single member of the Wen family survives, can you still live?”

“Young Master wouldn’t!” Wen Ji gritted his teeth. Fang Zilan curled her lips. “Only when Prince Yu Ning loses his support will the Li family not be wary of him. It will be easier for him to do whatever he wants.”

She paused for a moment, then said, "Since you want to be a pawn, then I'll grant your wish."

"Wen Ran is in Wang Shen's hands!" Wen Ji almost roared these words. "That fool Wang Shen thinks he can take over the Wen family, but little does he know that he is just a knife in the young master's hand."

"What do you mean?" Awan asked, completely bewildered.

Fang Zilan's face was ashen. She asked, word by word, "Young Master intends to use Wang Shen to deal with the Mo family?"

Wen Ji didn't speak, but smiled sinisterly, "Zi Xiu, have you ever thought about what will happen to those former officials if you guessed correctly? Is the Wen family the only thing the Prince of Yu Ning can rely on?"

After saying this, he used all his strength to smash into the knife in Fang Zilan's hand and committed suicide.

Warm blood fell onto Fang Zilan's hands, but she only felt a chill run through her body. How could she not know? The Hong family of Feiling Mountain was a prime example of Ji Ningtian's use and discard, and the Wen family and the Mo family might follow in his footsteps.

Wang Shen wasn't the only fool. As long as one has something they're attached to, they can only be a fool.

"Fang Zilan." Awan tugged at Fang Zilan's collar. "Are you going to save Young Master Wen?" Fang Zilan didn't answer, and Awan didn't press her. After a long silence, her voice finally came through. "I'll take you out first."

"If Wen Ji is telling the truth, and Young Master Wen is indeed in Wang Shen's hands, are you afraid that if you go, you'll run into Sister Yun Qinghan?" Although it was a question, Awan spoke with certainty, "But even if you don't go, Wang Shen has already been implicated, and what about Sister Qinghan..."

Fang Zilan put the teacup back on the table and asked, "What is your relationship with Lord Liu?"

“I am his cousin.” The man knelt on the ground, but Fang Zilan ignored his actions and continued to ask, “Are you from a collateral branch?”

“No.” The man lowered his head, rubbing his knee as he said, “The Lord Liu you speak of is just a better schemer than I am.”

“He’s even more ruthless than you.” Fang Zilan leaned against the table. “I can tell you don’t really like your cousin either. He’s in jail now, why didn’t you take his place?”

"Only when the coffin is closed can the truth be determined. Who knows how an unsolved case will turn out?" The man curled his lip. "Trying to take over? It's not that easy."

Fang Zilan seemed thoughtful. "Didn't you ever think of giving your cousin a push to put an end to the matter?"

"Young lady, you've come so late at night, you wouldn't be here as someone's gossip to harm my Liu family, would you?" The man spoke very quickly, as if afraid that if he spoke too slowly, Fang Zilan would attack him again.

As expected, Fang Zilan's face darkened. "You have no right to ask me questions."

"Alright, I'll tell you." The man sighed resignedly. "I would like to, but as you can see, I'm not cut out for this. Handing the Liu family over to my cousin is the best way out."

"The best way out?" Fang Zilan laughed out loud as if she had heard a funny joke. "Then the Liu family's way out is cut off."

After saying that, she stood up and said, "Prepare the coffins and find someone to collect the bodies of your entire Liu family in advance."

"What are you trying to do?" The man straightened up, and Fang Zilan looked down at him. "I heard that Fang Lihui was seriously injured by you and could hardly walk. Lord Liu also detained Fang Chongzheng before?"

"Were you sent by the Fang family?" The man hurriedly begged for mercy, "How much did the Fang family pay you? My Liu family will pay double..."

"Do you think I'm here for the money?" Fang Zilan interrupted the man, scoffing, "I also heard that it was your good cousin who suggested that one person from each family die?"

"I don't understand what you're saying!" The man slumped to the ground. Fang Zilan leaned closer to him. "If that's really the case, who in your Liu family deserves to die? You or your good cousin?"

"I understand, you're here to settle accounts." The man braced himself on the ground with his hands to keep from falling. "Just who are you?"

"You've gotten a smarter look this time." Fang Zilan straightened up. "Tell me, whose idea was it that one person in the family died?"

"I don't know." The man turned his head away. Fang Zilan seemed to have expected this. "Since you don't want to say, I won't force you."

After she finished speaking, she drew her sword. The man closed his eyes and shouted, "What you want is in the back garden."

"Do you know what I want?" Fang Zilan frowned. The man muttered in a defiant tone, "Isn't it just the remains of Prince Rong'an?"
