Mystery: Mr. Witch and Ms. Hunter
Chapter 70 Reporter
Chapter 70 Reporter
"You are a really weird person."
Vinata's voice was a little slurred. "Why do you think the feelings of a little kid you forced on me can restrain a former gang member? You should know what gang members are like."
"Yes, but I know more about this guy sitting in my room who doesn't pay any rent and eats and drinks for free than the vague concept of 'gangster'. Isn't that right, Miss Venata Severns?"
A smile played on Altaïr's lips.
"You're such a smooth talker." Venata pretended to hit Altaïr. "If there's nothing else to do, I'll go get Sophie to sleep."
"Good night then..." Just as Altaïr was about to say good night to the other party, he suddenly heard the doorbell ring downstairs.
"It's already seven o'clock, who would come to see me at this time..."
Altaïr was a little confused and raised his chin to Venata, signaling her to take care of Sophie.
Venata nodded slightly, took out the revolver from Altaïr's desk, hid it under the hem of her pajamas, and walked downstairs to her room. Altaïr silently hid the paper-cutting knife on the desk into his sleeve, slid down the railing of the stairs, and reached the first floor before Venata.
Living in the most luxurious house in the East District, it is necessary to have some precautions. The two did not think that this treatment was an exaggeration.
Altaïr walked to the door and looked through the peephole. The Assassin potion gave him a certain degree of night vision. Then he relaxed and threw the paper cutter back onto the coffee table in the living room.
"Mr. Joseph, it's been a long time."
Altaïr opened the door and saw a gentleman who looked to be in his thirties. He was wearing a heavy coat and a half-top hat, with sparse eyebrows, rough skin, and unusually obvious pores.
However, his facial features are pretty good, his blue eyes are particularly charming, and with two beautiful mustaches, he has a somewhat mature charm.
"I have told you many times to call me Michael, but you are still so reserved, Altaïr."
Michael Joseph laughed and patted Altaïr on the shoulder, with white steam coming out of his mouth.
"Let's talk inside. Backlund's winter weather is terrible..."
Mike walked into the house in a familiar manner, and Artair took his coat and hung it on the hanger.
"I changed into new clothes."
Altaïr said as he looked at the brand new coat in his hands.
"I got it scratched in the East End last time. You know, the interviews I've been getting lately have been with bigwigs, and it's not presentable to wear a patched coat. This coat cost me five pounds."
Mike sat down on the sofa.
"This is the price of grace." Altaïr said humorously. "What would you like to drink? Tea, coffee?"
"Whatever. I trust your taste in this area, Altaïr." Mike waved his hand.
"But what a coincidence, I just mentioned you."
Altaïr said as he made some tea.
"Oh, that's a coincidence." Mike nodded, then suddenly realized. "Mentioned me? With whom? I remember you were still living alone when I last saw you."
"It's a long story." Altaïr smiled. "Besides, you may have heard of this person recently."
"Vinata, this is Mr. Mike Joseph whom I told you about. Mike, this is Vinata Severns, I'll trouble you to take care of her in the future."
"Good evening, Mr. Joseph."
Vinata had conveniently hidden the revolver and now came out in her home clothes to greet Joseph.
"Good evening, Miss Sevens." Michael Joseph shook hands with Venata warmly, then turned to Altaïr. "When did this lady start living with you? You didn't even tell me. You are so polite."
"Actually..." Just as Altaïr was about to explain something, Venata spoke up first, "Actually, I just moved here last week, so I was in a hurry."
Altaïr was stunned for a moment, but then he understood.
Although gender discrimination has been eliminated to a certain extent in Rune's workplace, it still has little effect in some situations, and there is even a serious phenomenon of overcorrection in the handling of some issues.
This includes traditional media industries such as the news industry. Unmarried women often face a certain degree of harassment and unfair treatment at work. Women who are engaged or in a confirmed relationship are relatively better treated.
"Oh, I see." Mike suddenly said, "No problem, the day after tomorrow when I interview the East District textile factory owner and industrialist Rainer Buffett, Miss Sevens can go with me."
"Oh? How about letting her start her journalistic activities right away?" Altaïr asked, half curiously. "Shouldn't she usually start with clerical activities first?"
"Ms. Sevens showed great professionalism during the interview, and if she is just a reporter's assistant, I believe she can do the job even if she has no previous experience." Mike smiled, "I will bring the information for Miss Sevens when I come here tomorrow."
"Really? Then I'll thank you on her behalf." Altaïr nodded. "But you came to me so late this time. Do you have any request?"
"That's right. I just mentioned that I'm going to interview Mr. Rainer Buffett the day after tomorrow, right?" Mike took a sip of black tea. "I plan to go to his factory in the East District tomorrow to do a preliminary investigation."
"Oh? What are you investigating?" Altaïr raised his eyebrows. "You didn't come to me during the previous interviews. I believe you have already explored the East District?"
"This time is different..." Mike smiled awkwardly, "You know, my previous interviews on those issues in the East District were a bit..."
"I think the word 'formal' is appropriate here."
Altaïr pointed out sharply.
"I can't do anything about it." Mike shook his head helplessly. "In short, the big guys above want to see something substantial. However, other big guys don't want their own things to be seen. So, I plan to sneak into that gentleman's factory and take some photos that are not easy to be discovered but are actually insignificant."
"Ha, the reason why I dared to take Miss Sevens directly to Mr. Buffett's factory was similar. I had already investigated the specific information. The interview on the second day was just to judge what information I should publish in the newspaper based on his attitude."
Mike smiled self-deprecatingly, "Anyway, I plan to hire you again to accompany me to the East District tomorrow."
