The Hogwarts Emerald

Chapter 9 Heading to Hogwarts

Chapter 9 Heading to Hogwarts
"Fred! George! Where are you?"

Fred leaned out of the open car window, "Here, Mom, we are here!"

Mrs. Weasley came over with the little boy and girl, "Have you seen Percy?"

"He went to see Charlie," said Fred.

"Following in the footsteps of Charlie the Prefect," George went on.

"Hello, Mrs. Weasley." Ada greeted the fat Mrs. Weasley.

"My dear, you are here too. If you need any help at school, you can go to my son Charlie, he is the prefect." Mrs. Weasley said, and then she warned the twins, "You two should behave well in school. If I receive an owl saying that you are causing trouble in school, I will ask your father to take you back personally!"

"Will not."

"Absolutely not."

Ada didn't believe what the twins said. She believed that when they said "won't", they probably wouldn't be caught.

"I'll have Charlie and Percy keep an eye on you two." Mrs. Weasley obviously didn't believe this either.

"Charlie has a lot of schoolwork, Mom."

"Percy is also very busy, he has to study and envy Charlie."

"And I've been envious for a long time..."

"It started when Charlie first got his prefect badge..."

The twins spoke one sentence at a time, and they seemed to like this way of speaking.

The clock was soon approaching eleven o'clock, and the steam locomotive began to blow its whistle. Some children who were still saying goodbye to their parents hurriedly jumped on the train, and the parents also retreated to the safe area and waved goodbye to their children.

At exactly eleven o'clock, the train finally started slowly.

Ada saw Mrs. Weasley waving, the twins' little brother secretly wiping his tears behind his mother, and their little sister crying and laughing, running along with the train until the train sped up and she was left behind, still waving to them.

I am really envious. It is such a wonderful thing to have a family who loves and cares for you.

"That's our little brother Ron. He will come to school in two years."

"Our little sister, Ginny, is a year behind Ron."

"What an enviable family." Ada said sincerely.

"If you really had three brothers," Fred said, holding up three fingers.

"Plus a younger brother and a younger sister," George held up two fingers.

"Maybe you won't be envious." The twins said in unison.

The huge Weasley family, with nine members, is full of loyal and brave people!

It was a very pleasant thing to chat with the twins. They were very humorous and would tell a little joke from time to time. The three of them talked a lot about the wizarding world. Fred was the funny one, George was the straight one, and Ada was responsible for listening to them and laughing.

"Tell me about your story,"

“We’re the ones talking all the time.”

"I'm an orphan, and I grew up in an orphanage." Ada said. After hearing this, the twins began to express their apologies, but Ada signaled that the two brothers didn't need to worry about it. "It's okay. Look, I'm living a good life, right? I grew up healthy and was able to go to Hogwarts to study..."

A loud noise of clacking in the aisle interrupted Ada's words, and a smiling woman with dimples pushed open the door of the compartment and asked, "Dear, do you want to buy any food from the car?"

"No, thank you," said Fred and George, and opened a cardboard box with a few sandwiches inside.

Ida also had a sandwich, which Lady Mary had given her on the way out, but Ida still stood up and asked, "Anything to drink?"

Finally, Ida bought three cups of fruit milk and some chocolate for the twin brothers to share. The two of them helped her, so it was only right for her to buy them a cup of fruit milk, and sandwiches alone were a bit dry.

The fields passing by the car window became more and more desolate, and the neat farmland disappeared. What followed was a forest, a winding river and dark green hills.

Outside the window was a constantly changing view, and inside the window were three people eating quietly. The twin brothers wanted to say something, but they didn't know how to start. For the first time, the two brothers felt that they were a little tongue-tied.

After the three of them finished their meal and cleaned up the table, Ada discovered that there was a stain on the collar of George's shirt, who was sitting on the outside of the chair. It must have been accidentally rubbed by the bumpy train just now.

"Clean it up." Ida took out her wand and cast a cleaning spell on George, and the stain disappeared. Ida had practiced this spell for a long time during the holidays. It was a must-have spell for lazy people. "It's amazing!" George said in surprise.

"The way you looked just now reminded me of Mom," said Fred, and the two brothers gave Ada a thumbs-up.

Do I look that kind? Ada thought to herself, "I did some practice during the holidays at the orphanage. You know, I grew up in the Muggle world. I'll prepare more and hopefully I won't fall too far behind."

"No, you're already great!"

George stood up, opened his box, took out a deck of cards and shook it at Fred and Ada, "Let's play cards!"

"You're like a bug in my stomach." Fred and George high-fived, then continued, "Come on!"

George took out a deck of cards. Ida had never expected that the two brothers would carry a deck of cards in their pockets and play with whoever they caught. Ida had never played cards with the children in the orphanage, so she didn't know how the children in the UK played cards, let alone how the wizarding world played cards. Ida knew how to play Landlord and a little bit of bridge.

"I won't." She said it so simply that Ada didn't even blush.

"We'll teach you."

Then the two brothers began to explain the rules of the game to Ada. The rules and scoring were a bit complicated, and Ada was confused. Ada also learned that this deck of cards was called the Crackling Explosion Cards, and that they really exploded.

Is the wizarding world so dangerous? Can you get bombed just by playing cards? After explaining the rules for a while, the twins decided to play a few games with Ada first, and they would learn how to play after playing for a while.

Fred started to shuffle the cards, and after that, George was in charge of dealing the cards. Ada was really stubborn to play cards with the twins. After dealing the cards, Ada picked up the cards and took a look. The cards were not good.

[Ding! The proficiency of the crackling explosion card has been unlocked, please check it in time], this time Ada was really shocked, your system doesn't seem to be very serious!

Fred and George had never imagined that the future God of Gamblers in Diagon Alley would embark on this path under the guidance of their two brothers.

"How about it? Let's get started!" Fred said excitedly. It seemed that he had a good hand.

Ada smiled and said, "Let's get started!"

But what Ada didn't notice was that the twins blushed when she smiled. If Ada had noticed, she would have given each of the twins a slap on the face. You blushed like a bubble teapot! Your style of painting is distorted!

Happy times are always short-lived. The twin brothers were defeated in laughter. Facing a rookie like Ada, and with the help of the twins, the two brothers still lost more than they won. And they only won the first few games. It was difficult to win again. After Ada won another game, the twins could no longer hide their shocked expressions.

"Ada, you really didn't know how to do it before?" Fred's face was full of disbelief.

"It's the first time I play it today, seriously." Ada said seriously, even raising her hand to swear.

George quickly pulled Ada's swearing hand down and said, "You learn too fast!"

"I have always been a good learner," Ada said with a smile, and added silently in her heart: Especially after I became a wall-hanger.

George decisively put away the crackling explosion card. He didn't want to be destroyed by a newbie again.

While the three were chatting, someone knocked on the door of the box, and then a girl in a school robe pushed the door open. There was a shining P badge on her chest. She said to the three people, "We're almost there, change into your uniform." After that, she left.

"That 'P' badge means she's a prefect," said George, who was sitting on the outside. "Bill and Charlie both have the same badge."

"When they received the badges, their mother was so happy that she even bought them gifts," said Fred.

"So what the class leader said just now should be true. Let's change our clothes first!" Ada said, interrupting the twins.

The twins asked Ada to change clothes first, and then they went out to guard the door. After Ada changed her clothes, the twins went in.

Sure enough, not long after the three of them changed their clothes, a voice echoed on the train: "The train will arrive at Hogwarts in five minutes. Please leave your luggage on the train and we will take you to school."

Five minutes later, the train slowed down and then slowly stopped. Passengers pushed and shoved towards the door. The twin brothers, not knowing how strong Ada was, protected Ada and squeezed towards the door.

Finally, the three of them got down to a small, dark station. It was a little chilly at night. Ada took out the chocolate she had bought on the bus from her pocket and shared it with Fred and George.

A lamp appeared brightly above the students' heads. The person holding the lamp was tall and strong. The light flickered as he walked. He shouted loudly, "Freshmen! All freshmen, come over here!"

After hearing this rough and loud voice, the confused first-graders seemed to have found their backbone all at once and crowded towards the direction of the voice.

"I'm Hagrid, the gamekeeper and key keeper of Hogwarts. First-year students, follow me. Is there anyone else who hasn't come yet?" Hagrid waited for a while, and when he saw that no one else was coming, he continued, "Freshmen, follow me, and watch where you step!"

Tang Yuan didn't know whether Charlie was a prefect or not, but in the fifth book, Mrs. Weasley said that everyone in the family was a prefect, so Tang Yuan guessed that Charlie was also a prefect.
