The Hogwarts Emerald

Chapter 682 The Last Horcrux

Chapter 682 The Last Horcrux

Snape walked out of the headmaster's office alone and appeared in the corridor on the eighth floor of the castle. No one shouted at him anymore, but no one made any sound either.

Just a few minutes ago, everyone thought Snape was a murderer and wanted to cut him into pieces; but now everyone knows the inside story and realizes that they had misunderstood Snape.

The sudden change of roles, from traitor to hero returning from undercover, made everyone unsure of how to face Snape, which led to an awkward silence.

Ada glanced at the people in the corridor. She knew that everyone needed time to adapt, so she was the first to speak and break the silence.

"Professor Snape, has everything been explained clearly?" Ada asked.

In addition to being an undercover agent placed by Dumbledore next to Voldemort, Snape also has another important task. He has to tell Harry the whereabouts of the last Horcrux.

This matter is related to whether Voldemort can be killed completely, and also to Harry's life and death.

Snape pursed his lips tightly, shook his head first, and then nodded.

This puzzle-like body language made people confused. Was it clear or not? Anyway, Ada didn't understand it at all.

Come to think of it, it is not an easy thing for Harry to make his own choice between life and death. Once he makes up his mind and makes his own choice, there is no turning back.

"What happened?" Sirius asked warily. "You took Harry into the office alone. What did you say to him?"

It's not that he didn't trust Snape. On the contrary, Sirius was the one who could empathize with Snape the most. Because he had also been criticized and blamed by thousands of people. The reason why he asked this question was because it involved Harry, and Sirius couldn't help but worry.

Although this old saying does not mean this, it is surprisingly appropriate here.

Sirius was worried that Snape was forcing Harry to have a private conversation in order to make him complete some extremely dangerous task.

"You don't need to know." Snape raised his eyelids and glanced at Sirius. He had half a sentence left to say: Even if he knew, what would it matter? He would still be powerless to do anything.

The fact that Harry was Voldemort's Horcrux was Dumbledore's last arrangement before his death. It could not be told to anyone except Harry, and only he could know it.

If Ada had not been able to continue playing chess in place of Dumbledore, if Ada had not guessed on her own that Harry was also a Horcrux - Snape would not have kept it a secret even from her.

Harry had to face the cruel facts and the cold truth alone, because Harry was the child in the prophecy, because Voldemort chose him, and chose to turn a one-year-old baby into a savior.

"I'm Harry's godfather, why shouldn't I know?" Sirius emphasized, "I have to take good care of him for James and Lily..."

Snape let out a harsh sneer, interrupting Sirius with a loud laugh.

He said disdainfully, "Godfather? Care? I just learned today that being locked up in Azkaban is also a kind of care! Also, if Potter lives with you, he will only be more like his stupid, arrogant and conceited father."

Familiar place, familiar people, after many years, Snape and Sirius started to argue again.

"A snotty person who doesn't wash his hair..."

"Arrogant, stupid, self-righteous..."

Fortunately, Ada pulled Snape away and Lupin hugged Sirius, otherwise it would not be as simple as a verbal greeting between the two of them, but they would have to roll into a ball and give each other the best wishes with their fists.

"Shut up, both of you!" Professor McGonagall shouted loudly, her body trembling slightly, as if she was angry with the two of them, or as if she was emotionally excited.

When Snape and the four Marauders were still studying at Hogwarts, Minerva McGonagall was already the school's Transfiguration professor, so her words were still very powerful. Snape and Sirius closed their mouths at the same time.

Although he kept his mouth shut, Sirius still expressed his dissatisfaction with Snotlout by rolling his eyes.

Snape was even more outrageous. He simply turned his head away from Sirius and gave him a look that said "I don't want to bother with you" before turning his head.

When it comes to pranks and vandalism, ten Snapes are no match for Sirius. But when it comes to the ability to irritate people, Sirius can't catch up with Snape.

The disdainful look and the movement of turning the head away deeply hurt Sirius' "fragile" heart.

Sirius, who was furious again, was about to speak again, but his mouth had just opened, and before he could even utter a syllable, Professor McGonagall's majestic eyes fell on him.

Sirius pouted in grievance and shrank behind Lupin like a bullied dog.

Professor McGonagall turned her head and whispered to Snape, "Welcome... Welcome back, Professor Snape."

This sentence seemed to have exhausted all of Professor McGonagall's strength. She let out a long breath and her shoulders slumped.

Snape wanted to say something, but found that he really couldn't think of the right words. In the end, he just nodded heavily with his mouth open.

Suddenly, a series of explosions rang out in their ears, followed by a burst of terrified screams. Without time to think, everyone hurriedly ran through the corridor and crowded in front of a window to look out.

I saw colorful spells falling like a torrential rain, hitting the magic barrier covering the school. The huge force exploded one by one, and the terrifying impact caused the magic barrier to shake continuously.

The Death Eaters' attack has begun again!

"Now, please return to your seats. Protect yourselves and everyone around you." Ada said in a deep voice.

Mr. Weasley and Kingsley ran down the stairs first. They had to get back to the playground as soon as possible and organize a defense, as that place would be the first to be attacked by the Death Eaters.

Professor McGonagall and the others followed closely behind, and hurried back to the pre-assigned positions. The high tower had a wide field of vision, which was convenient for observing the situation and casting spells for support.

The last one to leave was Sirius. He looked at Snape awkwardly, then left reluctantly with Lupin.

In fact, Sirius wanted to see Harry walk out of the headmaster's office and confirm with his own eyes that there was nothing wrong with his godson. But the Death Eaters had already launched an attack, and he needed to return to his position and complete the task assigned to him.

Snape also left after Sirius, and although he had not been assigned any defensive tasks beforehand, he assigned himself the task of finding Nagini.

The barrier protecting the school cannot stop Voldemort. The Death Eaters will attack sooner or later. When the time comes, the two sides will engage in close combat and a melee is inevitable.

This is exactly the chaos that Snape wanted. The more chaotic the battle was, the more Voldemort's energy would be distracted, and the more chances he would have to kill Nagini.

The sound of spells blasting in her ears continued, and Ada was the only one left in front of the crowded window. Ada was waiting for Harry, and even more so, waiting for his choice.

As the child of prophecy and as Voldemort's Horcrux, Harry's choice will affect the final outcome of the battle.
