The Hogwarts Emerald

Chapter 627 Decision

Chapter 627 Decision
Sometimes, one sentence is worth a thousand words, and this is especially true for two people whose relationship goes far beyond that of teacher and student.

Although she never regretted what she had done before, Ada still felt guilty about Professor McGonagall's teachings and her love for her. Because of the guilt in her heart, she never dared to face it.

Although Mag was somewhat angry, he felt more guilty and remorseful, and could not bring himself to say anything to blame her.

When she woke up in St. Mungo's ward and didn't see Ada by her side, McGonagall had a bad feeling at that moment. When her family told her about Ada's behavior, the only remaining fantasy in her heart was shattered.

Whenever someone mentioned Ada or called her a devil, Mag's heart felt like it was being cut by a knife.

She always wondered, if she had not been nice to Ada, or even just had a slightly worse attitude, would everything be different?
There are no ifs in this world. The bond between them was formed from the first time they met, or when Ada went to feed the stray cats near the orphanage.

And it wasn't Mag's fault. Who would want to be hit by four Stunning Curses? This was a dodge in front of the god of death, no one wanted to do that.

If you want to blame someone, blame Umbridge for her arrogance and viciousness; if you want to blame someone, blame Ada for her reckless revenge.

The phoenix's wail that lingered in the field had faded away. Ada helped the swaying McGonagall to sit down. Although she was strong in the past, she did not dare to look at Dumbledore's portrait at this moment.

Mag kept talking, as if this could relieve the pressure on her shoulders. At the same time, she held Ada's hand tightly, as if Ada would never come back if she let go.

It was unknown how long it had been like this, until the sky was glimmering with light, Professor McGonagall stopped, and the two left the headmaster's office together. McGonagall wanted to make a final inspection, while Ada wanted to go back to the Twilight Cottage, she needed to rest for a while, and she had to go far away after dawn.

"Professor Dumbledore left the school in the evening, along with Harry," Professor McGonagall said suddenly. "I asked Harry, but he didn't tell me anything."

In the evening, the Aurors stationed in Hogsmeade may have seen the two leave, but the Ministry of Magic was preoccupied with its own affairs at the time, and may or may not have received the Aurors' message.

Anyway, Ada didn't know about this, but she did discover some other situations.

When Harry was pulled away by Ginny, Harry took something from Dumbledore's body. Ada didn't pay much attention to it at the time, but now she thinks that was the reason why the two left Hogwarts. That thing was most likely a Horcrux.

As they were talking, the two of them came to a fork in the road, and Professor McGonagall finally asked the question that had been stuck in her throat. She asked, "Will you stay?"

The war was getting more brutal. Even though Professor McGonagall knew that Ada was as powerful as Dumbledore, she was still worried about her safety. How could McGonagall be at ease with Ada who was far away in the Ministry of Magic after Dumbledore was murdered at school?

Wasn't the Death Eater raid this time only possible because of a mole in the Ministry? The Ministry of Magic's security level is even worse than that of the school. There are a lot of bureaucrats and pure-blood families, and there's no telling when they will turn against us en masse.

If Ada had not been in charge of the Ministry, the Ministry of Magic would have changed its flag and become a servant of Voldemort. The consequences would be disastrous, equivalent to the fall of the wizarding world. Anyone who dared to resist Voldemort would be accused of treason, and all Muggle-born wizards would face doom.

"I will come back, Professor." Ida hesitated for a few seconds, "Hogwarts is my home, I will definitely come back."

Ada had made her decision. As long as she was in the Ministry, the Ministry of Magic would be able to hold out for a day longer, and the school would be safer for a day longer. As long as the Ministry of Magic, the bridgehead, remained strong, Voldemort would not be able to invade Hogwarts on a large scale.

Keep the enemy outside the school gate and use the remaining power of the Ministry of Magic to kill Voldemort and his followers. This is Ada's decision, her way of repaying Dumbledore and protecting McGonagall.

Perhaps, Ada should talk to Sirius, Lupin and others and become the leader of the Order of the Phoenix according to Dumbledore's wishes.

If they continue to act independently and fight alone, and Ada is unable to cope with all the tasks, the Order of the Phoenix and the Ministry of Magic are likely to be defeated one by one by Voldemort.

Professor McGonagall understood what Ada meant. She knew her student's weakness, but she didn't say anything more. McGonagall respected Ada's decision, and she believed that Ada would come back. One went left, the other went right, and the two separated at the fork in the road. Although the paths under their feet were different, the paths in their hearts were the same.

After leaving the castle, Ada returned to the Twilight Cottage. It was still early in the morning, and there was no light in the cottage. She was too lazy to light a lamp, but fortunately she was very familiar with the cottage and could walk to the living room in the dark.

Just as she reached the door of the living room, the lights suddenly came on, and Ada squinted her eyes. Fred and George suddenly jumped in front of her, trying to scare her.

But this method was too simple. Unless the two of them could stop emitting any breath, there was no way they could succeed. Ada had already discovered them hiding in the dark.

The twins sat back on the sofa dejectedly, their eyes full of resentment, bored, very bored.

Fred muttered, "Bill is awake now. The green ointment smells bad, but it's working. Mum and Fleur are taking care of him, and Dad and the idiot Percy rushed back to the Ministry overnight."

"Sirius and Lupin have also left. I heard that they are going to inform other members of the Order of the Phoenix." George took over and he also looked like he didn't want to talk to anyone.

Ada also walked over and sat on the sofa, took off her shoes, curled up her legs and huddled up. She said, "What about you two?"

"Of course we came to see you crying!" Fred and George said in unison. "It's okay if you didn't expect it, but now that we did, there's no way we'd let you cry alone until dawn!"

As they spoke, the two brothers each took out two handkerchiefs, as if to say: Cry, we can't wait to see you with snot and tears.

Seeing the looks on Fred and George's faces, Ada burst out laughing.

On this night that couldn't be any worse, Ada held back her tears again and again. If she were alone in the cabin, she would probably have cried her heart out.

But now, with the twins' lame pranks and their antics, the tears flowed back.

"Crying? No way." Ida said with a smile, "I have removed my tear ducts with magic."

"That's so cool! How about you let me punch you?" Fred said as he stood up, clenched his fist, and the bull's eye was Ada's nose.

Ada suddenly closed her eyes and straightened her curled legs, trying to stop her nose from being ravaged.

But after waiting for a long time, Fred's fist did not fall, which made it even more frightening. Ada opened her eyes carefully and saw that the fist stopped in front of her. She breathed a sigh of relief and slowly moved her body backwards.

Before Ada could escape, a loud slap landed on her head, and her smooth forehead instantly turned red. The pain made her eyes well up with tears.

"Liar." Fred said disdainfully, and even blew on his fingers, his movements and expressions were very arrogant.

"It sounds good, and it's a good head." George commented succinctly, hugging his shoulders.

Ada rubbed her forehead and wiped the moisture from the corners of her eyes. She bit her back teeth and said, "Fred Weasley, George Weasley, I will fight you!"
