The Hogwarts Emerald

Chapter 49 Soul Seizing

Chapter 49 Soul Seizing
Ada looked at the person in front of her in surprise. This person was the Slytherin senior who delivered the letter to Ada in the evening!

Her behavior of casting the spell directly just now was a bit reckless. If she were given another chance, she would probably do the same thing again, to strike first. Everything around the underground classroom made people feel uneasy, and this uneasiness was also one of the reasons that prompted her to take direct action.

Why was she here? Why did she lead me here? Ada pondered silently in her heart, holding the wand tightly, and guarding against the other party's actions at any time.

Ada didn't know this senior, and today was the first time they spoke to each other. Before that, Ada had only seen her once in Fuli's support group. On the day Fuli left school, she was the one who cried the most in the crowd, and the people around her called her Erini.

Ada had no idea how she had offended this senior from Erini. The only thing they had in common was that they had both sent off for welfare.

The senior named Erini did not respond to Ada. As she got closer and closer to Ada, the sneer on her face became more and more intense. She waved the magic wand in her hand and cast a blue spell at Ada.

Ada dodged quickly, and the spell hit the wall, creating a big hole. The flying stone chips made Ada a little embarrassed, but Ada didn't have time to clean up, she raised her wand and pointed it at the door.

When Erini walked out of the classroom, Ada chanted the spell again: "Faint!" The spell flew quickly in the direction of the wand.

The two were not far apart, and the spell instantly reached Erini, who waved her wand to block Ada's attack. After blocking the attack, Erini cast four spells at Ada in succession, beginning her counterattack.

Ada dodged again and again, and the spells she couldn't avoid could only be resisted with defensive spells such as the [Iron Armor Spell].

As these spells were blocked by Ada, Erini's face finally showed some other expressions, with curiosity and resentment on her face.

Is the teaching quality of Hogwarts so high? Can a senior who hasn't graduated yet cast a series of silent spells? Ada thought to herself.

"Expelliarmus!" Ada shouted, and a bright red light rushed straight towards Erini.

[Disarming Spell], a seemingly ordinary spell but in fact extremely powerful. This is the evaluation given by the system. Ada has always believed so, so Ada has been practicing diligently after obtaining this spell.

The opponent has lost his wand, so he can only surrender. Few people can cast spells without a wand, and those who can do this will not be hit by your disarming spell.

It is not known exactly who invented this spell. Some claim that it came from Merlin; others say that it was popular in Madagascar in the 11th century, but few people used it at the time.

Another more reliable theory is that the spell was invented by Elizabeth Smaugling. Elizabeth also used the [Disarming Spell] to win the dueling tournament.

It was after that duel that this spell, which had the effect of disarming and even sometimes knocking back, really became popular.

Ada didn't care who invented this spell. She just hoped that her powerful blow could knock the opponent's wand away. The four consecutive silent spells brought Ada a lot of pressure.

Erini from Slytherin just waved his wand casually, and the powerful [Disarming Spell] was directly bounced off, which really did not live up to the high evaluation given by the system.

The two had already cast several spells at each other, causing a lot of noise, but no one came to check on the corridor. This place was like a gladiatorial arena, and only one person could stand and walk out between Ada and Eriny.

Erini cast the spell silently again, and a faint red light rushed towards Ada.

"Armor protect you!" Ada quickly raised her wand to block. The spell hit the invisible protective shield, but the wand in her hand seemed to be about to fly out. Ada could only hold it tighter.

"Exorcise!" This was the only spell uttered by Erinye, the Imperius Curse, one of the Unforgivable Curses.

Erini, who was originally standing in front of Ada, suddenly appeared behind Ada. Her disarming spell was just a cover, and the Imperius Curse she cast behind Ada was her real purpose.

Hogwarts was under a ban that did not allow Apparition to occur, and Ada did not expect Erinye to suddenly appear behind her.

The spell that came from behind hit Ada directly. If it was a killing curse, she would be a good-looking corpse now.

At this moment, Ada's mind became blank. Being attacked by Erinye was not a big deal at all. Whether Hogwarts could Apparate or not had nothing to do with her. She just felt happy now, extremely happy, and nothing else mattered.

The system kept making "ding...ding...ding" sounds in her mind. Ada, who was deeply immersed in happiness, gradually realized that something was wrong. She began to use all her strength to fight against the "happiness" in her mind and not let herself be affected by them.

Some of the techniques to resist the Imperius Curse are similar to Occlumency. Ada knows Occlumency, but she is not proficient in it. The only thing Ada can do is to prevent others from peeping into her memories and secrets. Occlumency is the first magic given to Ada by the system, but Ada has always learned this magic passively. She can resist Legilimency, but she is still a little powerless when facing the Imperius Curse.

If Ada had been practicing Occlumency well, she wouldn't have been so easily affected by the Imperius Curse. Ultimately, it was her own shortcomings.

Erini's wand was still pointing at Ada. She continued to deepen the spell and continue to influence Ada. In the end, the one who controlled people's hearts became the winner.

Seeing that the spell had taken effect, Erini finally put away her wand. She cast a spell to clean up the damage the two had just caused. The corridor was restored to its original state and it was impossible to tell that a fight had ever taken place here.

Ada heard an order in her mind: Follow me. She tried to resist, but her body was still controlled by the order, and she followed the voice and followed Erinni.

Ada followed Eriny in a daze, and the two of them left the corridor one after the other. Although they were seen by other students, no one thought much about it. They just felt a little strange that Gryffindor and Slytherin were mixed together, and did not associate it with the terrible spell of the Imperius Curse.

The two men left the castle, and under the cover of night no one saw them again.

Around eight o'clock, the twins came back after being punished. They walked into the lounge arm in arm, and the twins who didn't see Ada walked up to Angelina.

"Hey, Angelina!" Fred greeted. "Why are you alone? Where's Ada?"

Angelina held her chin with her hand and said gently, "She was called away by Snape. This is the food and note she prepared for you."

The twins took the food tray and happily enjoyed the sandwiches prepared by the house elf. George asked, "When did you leave?"

"In less than half an hour, Snape asked her to go to the dungeon at eight o'clock." Alia said, and at the same time motioned the two to look at the note left by Ada.

"Eight o'clock? Why choose this time?" George asked puzzled.

Fred unfolded the note, which read: Professor Snape asked me to go to the dungeon at eight o'clock, Ada.

The twins were not fast eaters at first, but after seeing the note, they started to eat voraciously, finishing the sandwiches in just a few bites.

Angelina and Alia were stunned by the speed at which they ate. This speed was probably not within the range of human beings.

The twins hurried up the stairs and returned to the dormitory. There was an ink spot on the note. If there was such an ink spot on someone else's note, the twins would not care at all, but Ada was different.

The twins had been copying Ada's homework. They knew Ada's writing habits very well and knew that Ada would never leave such an ink spot unless she did it on purpose.

The twins returned to the dormitory and hurriedly took out the Marauder's Map. They wanted to see where Ada was. They thought it was a mark left by Ada on purpose to remind them of something.

"I solemnly swear that I will do no evil."

The ink line spread on the parchment, and the twins first looked towards the underground classroom, where Ada would be whenever she was called away by Snape. However, not only did the twins not see Ada, but even Snape did not see her. They only saw Mrs. Norris.

The twins continued searching and they saw Snape on the fifth floor. After a while he went up to the sixth floor, but there was no Esmeralda Drizzt's name next to him.

The twins became more anxious, and in order to speed up, they began to divide the work. Fred carefully observed the inside of the castle, while George looked outside the castle.

"I found it here, Ada went to the Forbidden Forest!" George finally found Ada's name. The small black dot representing Ada was moving towards the Forbidden Forest.

Fred also looked over, and the moment he saw Ada's name, a bad premonition enveloped the two brothers.

"Why is Ada with him? Why are they in the Forbidden Forest?"
