The Hogwarts Emerald

Chapter 466 Aggressive

Chapter 466 Aggressive
The tenth courtroom was silent, with only the sound of high heels hitting the floor.

The voice came from Ada, who did not urge the people who were trying the case, but walked slowly in front of Harry. Although she did not speak, every step she took seemed to step on everyone's heart.

Dementors, Little Whinging, how is this possible?

The Ministry of Magic officials and Wizengamot members present did not believe that the Dementors would run to Little Whinging, let alone attack Harry Potter.

The Dementors didn't stay in Azkaban, but ran to a Muggle-populated area, and happened to meet the only wizard in the area! What are the odds? Even Ludo Bagman, a gambler, wouldn't bet on it.

This can't possibly happen!
Finally, everyone stopped keeping silent, and the Wizengamot members on both sides began to whisper, discussing this impossible thing.

Ada stopped pacing and carefully observed Fudge's expression. On the day she learned that Harry was attacked by Dementors, Ada was sure that it was Fudge's handiwork, or at least he was an insider.

Judging from Fudge's expression today, the Minister didn't seem to know about it, otherwise he wouldn't have such an expression on his face. Ada would never have been wrong about that flash of shock.

The Dementors under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Magic attacked Harry Potter for no reason, and the Minister himself was unaware of it. So who do these two Dementors obey?
Was it Voldemort's spy in the Ministry of Magic? But wasn't Voldemort always determined to kill Harry himself? Why did he suddenly ask someone else to do it?
This matter is becoming more and more interesting.

"Dementors?" said Madam Bones, her thick eyebrows raised high, and her monocle seemed about to slide down. "What do you mean, child?"

"I mean, two Dementors appeared from the alley and came straight towards me and my cousin!"

Fudge's shrill laughter suddenly rang out in the courtroom, and then some people followed suit.

Fudge said, "That joke is not funny at all. If you think you can get away with this nonsense, you are very wrong!"

"How can Dementors be in Little Whinging when they answer to the Ministry of Magic?" said Madam Bones. "I still don't quite understand you, child."

It sounds like Ms. Bones is questioning Harry from the perspective of the Ministry of Magic, thinking that he is lying. But in fact, Ms. Bones asked him to be more specific, and also pointed the finger at Fudge and his followers.

Without Fudge's order, who could authorize the Dementors to attack? Or, who would dare to do so?
But Harry didn't understand Ms. Bones' hint and took her question as interrogation. Of all the people present, Harry only trusted Ada.

"I'm not lying!" Harry said loudly, his anger making the words seem even more powerless and also encouraging the others to laugh.

"There were two of them, blocking the alley from both ends. Everything became so dark and cold. My cousin touched them and tried desperately to escape—"

"That's enough!" Fudge shouted at Harry, "Stop telling those lies you made up in advance! It will only insult our ears!"

Fudge stood up from his seat and looked down at Ada and Harry with an arrogant look, as if he were looking at two weak insects.

"It does sound absurd and unbelievable." Ada said, "But in fact we have a witness. She is not a Muggle. She can prove that everything Harry Potter said happened really."

"There is only one registered wizard in Little Whinging, Harry Potter! And Muggles can't see Dementors." Fudge said, his eyes staring at Ada, as if this would make Ada give up.

Hearing this, Ada made a very sad expression and said, "Our witness can see Dementors. Unfortunately, this lady did not become a wizard."

Not a Muggle, and unable to become a wizard, there is only one possibility.

Fudge said arrogantly, "So the witness is a Squib? The testimony of a Squib is hardly convincing." He looked around and asked, "Can a Squib see Dementors?"

When they heard that the witness was a Squib, the Wizengamot present all showed disappointed expressions. They also did not trust the Squib's testimony.

There has always been a bloodline contempt chain in the wizarding world, and Squibs are among them, with a status similar to that of Muggle-born wizards and Muggles. This is true even if the Squib's bloodline is very noble. Some wizards even regard Squibs as a disgrace to the wizarding world, and as something that should be eliminated more than Mudbloods and Muggles.

"In fact, they can see it!" Ada stepped forward and said loudly, "Mr. Minister, what you just said is so disappointing! Even if you can't treat them equally, as the leader of the magic world, you shouldn't insult and discriminate against them so directly."

The word "Squib" itself is an insult. It may not be as vicious as "Mudblood", but it is a derogatory term.

The fact that the Minister of Magic almost openly discriminates against and insults such people is enough to show how serious discrimination is in the wizarding world.

Ada's words did not cause any ripples in the courtroom. They felt that the minister was right and that the testimony of the squib was unconvincing. As for the discrimination and insult that Ada mentioned...

It’s just discrimination and insult, so what?
"Everyone's time here is valuable, and we don't have time to listen to a Squib's nonsense, Drizzt. If you have nothing else to submit, I think you can pronounce the verdict..." Fudge said maliciously.

Ada started walking back and forth in front of Fudge again, making the minister upset.

"No, according to the Wizengamot Charter of Rights, the defendant has the right to call witnesses to testify in court." Ada looked at Ms. Bones, "Is that right, Director?"

"Yes," said Ms. Bones, "it is."

"We don't want to listen to a Squib's nonsense!" Fudge said viciously, "There is irrefutable evidence that Harry Potter cast a spell in front of Muggles. Don't try to quibble!"

Ada took another step forward, and she stood closer to Fudge, close enough that she could punch Fudge twice.

She said: "I don't know why the minister is so eager to convict Harry Potter and even skip the trial process. Shouldn't the trial be fair and impartial? In order to ensure fairness, the normal trial process should be followed. If necessary, part or all of the trial process should be made public to the public."

"You just activated this courtroom for a minor matter of casting a spell outside the school, and now you tell me that your time is precious... I don't really understand your concept of time. And you obviously just want to throw Harry Potter directly into Azkaban and let him fend for himself there, just like Sirius Black. If that's the case, why hold a trial?"

Ada stopped looking at Fudge. She swept her eyes across the high benches on both sides and continued, "I am now filing a lawsuit with the Ministry of Magic, the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, and the Wizengamot, accusing Cornelius Oswald Fudge of premeditated murder. He has wasted my precious time and squandered my precious life."

The Ministry of Magic officials and Wizengamot members present fell silent again after hearing this resounding statement.

They had thought that Dumbledore would come to defend Harry Potter today, but it turned out that it was only one of Dumbledore's students who came; they had thought that the young lady would be scared to wet her pants, and that it was a stupid move by the confused old Dumbledore; they had thought that the young lady was just good at fighting, but they didn't expect that she was not only good at fighting, but also good at speaking, and what she said was well-reasoned.

Since entering the courtroom, Ada has always behaved well, without any transgression, neither disrespecting the Wizengamot nor disrupting the court. Facing Fudge's aggressiveness, she did not behave in any rude way, and she won a lot of favor from the Wizengamot.

After all, who wouldn't want such an outstanding child to be their own? If Dumbledore wasn't involved, it would be perfect...

Just when everyone had a good impression of Ada, she opened her bloody mouth and revealed her sharp fangs.

Suing the Minister of Magic for murder because Cornelius Fudge wasted her time... this... did we hear it wrong!
At this moment, everyone present knew why Dumbledore asked her to come to defend. She was not here to defend at all, she was here to take Harry Potter away and slap the Ministry of Magic in the face.

Dumbledore, he deserves death!
"Oh my... I forgot, this is England, we can cover the sky with one hand..." Ada's voice rang out in the courtroom again, and these words made everyone feel cold for no reason.

But Ada had no intention of stopping.

She said to herself in a voice that everyone could hear: "If I am lucky enough to walk out of the Ministry of Magic alive today, I will definitely file a lawsuit against the Ministry of Magic of other countries and the International Confederation of Wizards. This matter is not over yet!"
