The Hogwarts Emerald
Chapter 43 Spiders are just pets
Chapter 43 Spiders are just pets
The three men ran forward all the way, not daring to stop at all, as they were about to get out.
The spiders were also running behind them, their eight huge legs and sharp claws were frightening, but when they reached the edge of the Forbidden Forest, they stopped chasing Ada and the twins.
But they didn't leave either. They were anxiously spinning in place, as if they were hesitating whether to chase after us or not. The midnight snack that was about to reach their mouths flew away. It was really not a good thing.
In the end, the group of giant spiders did not leave the forbidden forest. They just stared at Ada and the other two unwillingly as they gradually went away. The group of spiders slowly retreated, leaving only a pile of broken limbs and debris wherever they passed.
Ada and the twins finally left the Forbidden Forest. They could clearly see Hagrid's cabin. After seeing the spiders behind them finally leave, the three of them felt relieved and began to adjust their breathing. They were exhausted after the previous sprint.
Ada breathed heavily, holding her knees with both hands. She said, "Why do we have to go through these bad things every time we go out?"
"I don't know!" The twins shook their heads. They were also very tired, but much better than Ada. This is the physical strength gap between men and women.
"This isn't the first time the two of us have come to the Forbidden Forest," said Fred.
"But this is the first time this has happened," said George.
"You two are fine together, but with me, there will be trouble. Do you blame me?" Ada said with a smile, "Next time something like this happens, don't call me. I value my life and can't stand this kind of shock!" The cold air she inhaled in big gulps made her feel cold.
"It's okay, you'll get used to it after being scared." The twins comforted them, but this kind of comfort really sounded like they deserved a beating.
"Who? Who's there?" A burly voice accompanied by a dog barking came through the night. It was Hagrid's voice.
In order to avoid being caught, the twins had no choice but to drag Ada, who was panting, and continue running. Ada felt that the sound of her panting sounded like a broken bellows.
After going through so much hardship, the three finally returned to the warm castle. Fred took the Marauder's Map to look for Filch's traces. Ada was still panting. George gently stroked Ada's back to help her breathe. With George's help, Ada finally breathed more evenly after a short rest.
Fred, holding a map, led the way, followed closely by Ada and George, and the three of them walked towards the common room.
George suddenly thought of something and burst into laughter. He said, "Fred, what do you think if we catch a spider from the Forbidden Forest and give it to Ron?"
"What a genius idea! Just grab one the size of a washbasin. Anything bigger will hurt him." Fred said seriously, looking like he was thinking about Ron.
Good boy, Ada said in her heart, good boy! What on earth were you two thinking of giving Ron a big spider?
"I beg you, please be a human being!" Ada said, "Are you sure Ron won't kill you two?"
"It was because of our initial mistake that he became very afraid of spiders."
"So it's our responsibility as brothers to eliminate his fear of spiders."
The twins argued convincingly, and their righteous remarks left Ada speechless. "Ron must have done a lot of bad things in his previous life, so he has to be your brother in this life."
"Again, we're just using our methods to help little Ronnie overcome his fears."
"Little Ronnie is our dearest relative, and didn't you say that the best way to eliminate fear is to overcome it?"
Ada really wanted to respond, "No, I didn't, don't talk nonsense," but she couldn't say it because she was the first to bring up the idea of fear.
I'm sorry, Ron, I've let you down. Ada thought to herself. Ada thought of their little sister again, so she asked the twins, "You won't do the same to Ginny, will you?"
"Ginny? How come?" Fred looked surprised.
"That's our sister!"
So the sister is the biological one, but the brother is not! Ada felt sorry for Ron for three seconds.
After returning to the dormitory, Ada fell asleep immediately. The running along the way had consumed too much of her energy. She was so tired that she slept very comfortably that night.
The next day, Ada and the other two saw Hagrid entering the castle. They said hello to Hagrid and wanted to leave, after all, they had just escaped from Hagrid the night before.
But Hagrid didn't seem to notice the embarrassment of the three people. Instead, he asked the twins with concern, "You two haven't been to the Forbidden Forest recently, have you?" "No, you didn't tell us to go!" the twins replied with forced calmness.
"That's good, that's good." Hagrid felt relieved after hearing the twins' words.
Ada, who was not suspected, asked Hagrid: "Hagrid, what's wrong?"
"Someone has been breaking into the Forbidden Forest recently, including last night." Hagrid whispered, but his voice was still loud. "Fred, George, the Forbidden Forest has been a little uneasy these days. You must not go there."
After Ada took a look at the twins, she said to Hagrid, "Hagrid, I'll keep an eye on them and make sure they don't cause any trouble for you. What happened in the Forbidden Forest recently?"
Hagrid looked at the students passing by and lowered his voice again, saying mysteriously, "Someone entered the Forbidden Forest last week, and many animals were harmed. Someone broke in again yesterday, and many of Aragog's children were killed."
Ada didn't know who entered the Forbidden Forest last week, but it must be her who went there yesterday and killed many "Children of Aragog". These big and playful spiders were indeed Hagrid's pets.
"I shouldn't be telling you this. Anyway, you should all stay away from the Forbidden Forest recently." Hagrid pushed the three people from behind and pushed Ada and the others into the hall. "Dumbledore is too busy this year, so these clowns dared to come to Hogwarts to make trouble."
After entering the hall, Ada saw Dumbledore, whom she hadn't seen for a long time. He was sitting in the headmaster's seat, chatting with Professor McGonagall with a smile on his face.
Dumbledore had made it clear that he would not be standing for the position of Minister of Magic, once again declining the position.
With Dumbledore's return, all the ghosts and monsters disappeared. Ada and the other two who were chased by spiders did not go to the Forbidden Forest again, the twins did not clamor to catch one again, and Ron did not have to receive such a big gift during the holidays.
The weather has improved, and the Hogwarts Quidditch competition is about to start again. Gryffindor will play this Saturday. Charlie has been training with his team members these days. Fred and George will also go. The two of them are very happy to be sparring partners. Ada also went with them and continued to play her job as a cheerleader.
But on Friday, Ada, the cheerleader, missed Gryffindor practice and was detained again.
Ada took back her main "T" position again, and shared most of Snape's firepower again. In this class, Snape's questions to Ada were no longer beyond the syllabus. If Ada could answer his questions, she wouldn't have to sit here.
After class, a mountain of work appeared in front of Ada, and she could say goodbye to her dinner. This time, Snape did not brew the potion in front of Ada, but sat in his seat reading a book.
The two of them stayed in the same room without saying a word for the entire night. It was as if they were competing, and whoever spoke first would lose.
At about eight o'clock, Ada finally finished all the work. She first packed up the processed materials, and then said, "Professor, can I leave now?"
Ada lost the silence contest tonight. Snape left halfway through, probably to eat, and it was obviously not his character to bring food back, so Ada was a little hungry now.
Snape nodded, indicating that she could go, and implemented the principle of silence to the end.
With permission, Ada put away all the tools. She should have left immediately, but she still had some questions to ask Snape.
"Professor, was it Foley who attacked Daniel?"
"It's none of your business." Snape didn't even raise his head.
Ada asked again: "He was the one who forced his way into the common rooms of the four colleges, right?"
"This is not your concern." Snape looked up at Ada, who had tied her loose hair into a ponytail to facilitate her work.
"What about the Forbidden Forest? Hagrid said someone broke into it?"
"Your self-righteousness will eventually hurt you." Snape lowered his head again, not wanting to look at her again, "Winnie!"
A female house-elf suddenly appeared in the classroom. The elf bowed deeply to Snape and Ada, and her long nose almost touched the floor of the dungeon.
"Winnie, send her back!" Snape ordered.
