The Hogwarts Emerald
Chapter 15 Punishment
Chapter 15 Punishment
Two voices, one male and one female, were heard, and the students naturally recognized that the two voices came from Snape and Professor McGonagall respectively.
When the students of the two colleges just started to fight, someone ran to tip off the situation, so Professor McGonagall and Snape came very quickly. With the arrival of the two professors, the students of the two colleges naturally stopped fighting.
Some of the more arrogant students also stopped after being stopped by their companions. The students who stopped fighting naturally separated into two groups and stood there, not daring to look up and face the dean of their college.
However, this also made Ada stand out more, because she didn't notice the arrival of the two professors at all, and continued to show her skills to Avery. Avery could only hold his head and let the fists rain down on him.
"Stop it, Ada, stop hitting me!" the twins said as they stepped forward and pulled Ada, who refused to stop, away.
"Why don't you two let go!" Ada struggled to kick her legs, trying to break free from the Weasley brothers. "Let go! If I don't teach this ignorant brat a lesson today, he will really think we are easy to mess with..."
"Calm down, Ada, calm down, it's all over, Professor McGonagall is here." said the twin brothers who carried Ada away.
At this time, Ada finally noticed Professor McGonagall and Snape who came over, and she stopped struggling. She signaled the twins to let her go and she would not attack them again.
The twin brothers had just witnessed Ada's crazy look in the crowd, and they didn't dare to let go, for fear that she would make a surprise attack. Instead, they carried Ada and walked faster and farther.
They retreated to the side of Lee Jordan, Angelina and Alia before they dared to let Ada go. This place was already quite far from the Slytherin students, so even if Ada wanted to beat someone up again, she would have enough time to stop him.
Professor McGonagall and Snape first checked on the students. Fortunately, nothing serious happened, except for Cody Avery. He was the worst of all the people present, and was beaten by Ada almost the entire time. If the two professors had not arrived in time, Ada would have beaten him to the point where even Mrs. Avery would not have recognized him.
Afterwards, the two professors began to understand the cause of the incident. Students from both colleges accused each other of the crime. However, because the two professors were present, everyone was very restrained in their language and no secondary conflict broke out. Professor McGonagall and Snape also asked several students and understood the whole story clearly.
Professor Snape's originally sallow complexion was now as black as the bottom of a pot. He didn't even want to look at the Slytherins anymore. It was fine if they had fought, but they actually lost! It was really disappointing! Snape's face became darker and darker, and the Slytherin students were silent, huddled like chickens.
Professor McGonagall, with a livid face, looked at the students of her own college angrily. The Gryffindors seemed to be in much better condition than the Slytherins, which made Professor McGonagall's ugly face look a little better. Although it violated the school rules, at least Gryffindor won!
"This matter is not over yet. I will tell my dad!" said Cody Avery viciously with a bruised face and nose. He had just been helped up from the ground by other Slytherins. There was still some blood on his face and he looked very embarrassed.
Hearing this, Ada, who had just calmed down, couldn't help it anymore. Just as she was about to step forward, George quickly hugged her around the waist. Angelina and Alia beside her gently soothed Ada's emotions and asked her to stop making trouble.
"Shut up!" said Professor Snape, "Why don't you send him to the infirmary? It's embarrassing to keep him here!"
The student who supported Avery hurriedly took him away. When Avery left, his mouth was still busy. The people around him couldn't stand it anymore and quickly covered his mouth to stop him from continuing.
Ada was no match for George in strength, and could only watch Avery leave with a big mouth. Unable to move, Ada could only talk nonsense: "So this is the noble Avery, who can only cry and look for his father... Avery, you just acted like a baby who hasn't been weaned!"
"That's enough, Miss Drizzt!" Professor McGonagall said sternly to Ada with a dark face.
After hearing what Professor McGonagall said, Ada finally calmed down, and George loosened his hand when he realized that she was no longer struggling. Ada, no longer excited, finally felt the pain all over her body. She lowered her head and said nothing, thinking to herself: It's over, my image as a good kid in front of Professor McGonagall has completely collapsed...
Originally, Professor McGonagall was planning to teach Ada a lesson, but seeing Ada standing there obediently with her head down, she didn't want to say those harsh words.
"Gryffindor and Slytherin each lose fifty points!" Professor McGonagall announced loudly. She had understood the whole matter clearly. Although the students of the two houses had different opinions, two things were certain. The conflict was caused by Cody Avery's foul language, but it was Ada who actually started it first. So Professor McGonagall gave each of them fifty lashes.
"I think that's not enough, Professor McGonagall," said Snape. "Although the incident was caused by Avery, he also received the lesson he deserved. And some people should learn how to control their temper instead of waving their fists like a Muggle..."
Although Snape didn't like Avery and thought that he had brought this beating upon himself, he still thought that Ada should be punished accordingly, otherwise it would be too unfair. Anything that was related to injustice would eventually turn into a bad thing, even if it was a good thing.
Everyone said they were used to Snape's words. It would be strange if he didn't protect Slytherin! Besides, everyone could see how much Snape disliked Ada.
Ada lowered her head and rubbed her right wrist. She said nothing. She did hit someone, which violated the school rules. There was no point in making excuses. She hit someone.
Professor McGonagall looked at Ada, whose lips were bruised. Her robe was torn and stained with footprints. She no longer looked as fierce as before, but rather pitiful, as if she was the one being beaten and bullied.
Is this how she lived in the orphanage? Professor McGonagall thought to herself.
"Ms. Drizzt, you will be detained for half a month as punishment for hitting someone, starting tomorrow night." Professor McGonagall announced loudly, "Mr. Cody Avery, because of his rude words and provocation of his classmates, he will be detained for five days as punishment, starting from the moment he leaves the school infirmary!"
After Professor McGonagall announced the punishment, she left immediately. She hoped that this punishment would make Ada's mind clearer and not act impulsively.
After hearing this decision, Professor Snape, who had a dark face, had some different opinions, but he did not refute Professor McGonagall in front of the students. He glanced at Ada who was surrounded by the crowd, and left without saying anything else.
Because of the fight, the flying class naturally could not continue. The two professors imposed punishments and left one after another, and everyone returned to the castle.
"I think you need to go to the school infirmary, Ada." Angelina said as she supported Ada.
"Don't worry, it's okay. I'm just a little tired, thanks to Fred and George." Ada smiled and comforted Angelina.
"I really didn't expect you to be so good at fighting!" George said, patting Ada's shoulder.
"Especially your first few moves, so cool!" Fred also came up and took a photo.
The twins' beatings were ruthless, and Ada rolled her eyes at them in pain. The more Ada thought about it, the more she felt she had suffered a loss. Judging from the results, she had lost points, been put in solitary confinement, and her image had been ruined. She really suffered a great loss.
The twin brothers and Lee Jordan were two steps behind the girls, bragging to each other about how brave they were in the fight and how they had knocked down a few Slytherins. Boys are always like this, a little proud and vain, especially in front of girls.
Ada didn't know if Lee Jordan's record was as impressive as he boasted, because Lee Jordan didn't walk through the crowd to Ada's side. If Lee Jordan and the Weasley brothers' record was really as impressive as they boasted, then all the people from the two colleges present just now would not be enough for the three of them to beat.
Apparently, wizards aren't very good at math and they just brag too much.
The group of six walked into the castle chatting and laughing, but when they passed the scoreboard showing the scores of the four major colleges, the mood of the six people suddenly dropped.
No one would be happy seeing a large number of red gems missing.
Ada thought to herself: If there is a next time, I must first get enough points. I will lose points anyway, so if I get enough points, I will feel less distressed when I face the deducted points.
