The Hogwarts Emerald

Chapter 122: Hogwarts Big Liar

Chapter 122: Hogwarts Big Liar

The weather on Saturday was gloomy, and people felt depressed and uncomfortable. Ada's short vacation was about to end.

During the few days she stayed in Little Whinging, Ada did nothing but wandered around the town all day. As for finding the Boy-Who-Lived at the playground, it was purely an unexpected gain and not part of her plan.

The peace and quiet of these few days can be regarded as an opportunity for Ada to give herself a vacation. In Little Whinging District, she is not a witch, nor does she have any other identity. She is just herself, doing nothing and trying not to think about anything.

If the twins had not sent "The Progress of Modern Dark Wizards" to Ada, she could still live leisurely. It was just that she was fooled by an old man. It was no big deal. At least for now, the old man had not shown any greater malice.

There has always been a rumor in Hogwarts that no professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts can teach for more than a year, and they are always unable to continue teaching for various reasons.

No one knows exactly when this rumor started, but everyone believes it because no one can be re-elected successfully, and there are even people who only lasted half a semester before giving up.

There is less than a month left in the semester, which means that Ada will have to say goodbye to Cecil in at most a month. And Cecil is not just a brat. He has fought with Dumbledore and knows how powerful Dumbledore is.

By the end of the semester, the two people's lives would no longer intersect. Ada would return to the Burrow to live with the Weasleys, and Cecil might return to the countryside to continue his studies in the Dark Arts, if his body could hold up until then.

To be honest, Ada was actually very conflicted. Cecil was different from Foley. Although Cecil had deceived her, he had also helped Ada a lot in her studies. Without him, Ada would never have been able to get those banned books.

This was what made Ada feel uncomfortable. He had helped her so much, but he still played her around. Ada really wanted to break his pipe. If Cecil's physical condition hadn't been so bad, Ada would even want to add some toppings to his tobacco and let him live in the bathroom.

Wait, is Cecil really that sick? Is his apparent weakness just another hoax?

But this potion was prepared by Snape, and Ada had seen Cecil drink the potion with her own eyes, so it couldn't be fake. When she first knew about Cecil's illness, Ada felt sad. If even this illness was a lie to her, this grudge would be a deadly one!
You can't blame Ada for being suspicious. When someone deceives you once, he will do it a second time, or even a third time... You can't think about Cecil's things anymore. If you keep thinking about them, there will be no good people in this world.

Ada said goodbye to Ms. Valente and left the orphanage. Ada's things were sent back last night. This poor owl had a lot of bad luck with her. It traveled back and forth between Scotland and England every day. Ada felt that it had lost weight recently.

The time agreed with Professor McGonagall was in the afternoon, but it was still morning, so Ada went to the cemetery. This was the first time Ada had been to the cemetery since Mrs. Mary was buried on Monday.

After today, Ada doesn't know if she will come back in her lifetime. With Ada's temperament, she might accidentally offend a magic giant one day and then die. No one can predict what will happen in the future. If you don't believe it, you can ask Professor Trelawney. It is said that she predicts the death of a student every year. Have you ever succeeded?
Ida didn't know how the British visited graves, she had no experience in this area, but she at least knew that burning paper money was not popular here, so Ida only brought a white wreath to the cemetery. Don't ask where the wreath came from, she wouldn't tell you even if you asked, it was definitely not bought.

Standing in front of Mrs. Mary's tombstone, Ada no longer felt too sad. The street life in the past few days did have some effect. At least it made Ada let go of many worries and burdens.

From now on, Ada is just Ada. All the bad things in the past are buried with Lady Mary in this small cemetery, and only exist in this deep grave. Ada feels someone approaching her, and Ada holds the wand in her hand. Ada will carry her wand wherever she goes, and put it in a position where she can pull it out quickly.

"It's good to stay alert at all times, but you also have to be able to tell who the person is, and whether they are a friend or an enemy." The voice was a little hoarse, and it was obvious that he smoked too much on a daily basis.

Ada looked back and saw Grover Cecil filling his pipe with tobacco. His face was full of fatigue and his complexion was as white as a piece of paper. Ada did not put away her wand. Cecil's sudden appearance intensified Ada's doubts.

Cecil lit his pipe and took a deep puff of the cigarette. He closed his eyes and exhaled the thick smoke. He looked at Ada who was still on guard and said with a smile, "It seems you know everything!"

The two had had a similar conversation before, but that time they talked about Cecil's illness, while this time they talked about him deceiving Ada.

"I read a story in the book that is completely opposite to what you said." Ada asked, "Who do you think I should believe? Should I believe you, or should I believe the book "Modern Black Magic Progress" that does not even have the author's name?"

"As your teacher, I will teach you another good lesson." Cecil took a puff of his cigarette before continuing, "People's hearts are evil. As long as they are human, they are unreliable, so never trust anyone!"

"Life is short, and if you don't have anyone you can trust or confide in, isn't that a failure?" Ada did not agree with Cecil's point of view. What he said was too absolute.

Cecil didn't mind the wand in Ada's hand at all. He walked over and stood in front of Lady Mary's tombstone like Ada. Cecil said, "Of course you can trust others, but you have to be prepared to be betrayed at any time. Just like you chose to believe my story, and in the end you found out that I was lying to you, and you couldn't do anything to me."

"Of course, if you like to trust others but don't want to be betrayed, you must have the same strength as Dumbledore or Voldemort. In this way, you can give trust to anyone you want, because you are not afraid of betrayal and you can withdraw your trust at any time." Cecil put away his pipe and said slowly to Ada.

Ada suddenly felt that what Cecil said made some sense. The magic world is always a place where strength is respected. Weakness is the original sin, and big fists are the truth. As long as you are strong enough, you can still be the most handsome guy in the magic world even if you kill people and set fires. Weak trash are not worthy of talking about trust, because betraying you does not cost anything.

Just as Ada was daydreaming, the ring on her left ring finger lit up. Ada instantly came to her senses and her sense of identification with Cecil's words decreased.

Ada moved her left hand and thought: This must be how I fell into his trap last time. I was fooled by Cecil's story and failed him twice. I was so stupid!

Cecil had been looking at Ada, and the changes in her facial expressions could not escape Cecil's eyes. However, even though his method failed, he still did not have any negative emotions, but instead smiled.
