Chapter 85: Room of Requests
Chapter 85: Room of Requests
"Is there really such a good place? I've been living in school for a year, but I've never found such a place." Ryan said with some confusion.
Nick heard Ryan's tone seemed a little unconvincing, and quickly said: "I know this place has been around for more than two hundred years, and countless students have found it. Unfortunately, the students who know this place keep it secret, so it's normal that you don't know."
"Where is that place?" Ryan asked. He could roughly guess what place Nick was talking about.
"That place is called the Room of Requirement. Go to the eighth floor of Hogwarts Castle, opposite the tapestry where the troll clubbed Barnabas. Then concentrate on thinking about the place you need, and walk through that wall three times. Then a very smooth door will appear on the wall, leading to the Room of Requirement. However, almost no students in school know about this place. Recently, it is mainly used by some house-elves in Hogwarts Castle."
It is indeed the Room of Requirement, Ryan thought. Now he can finally use that room. After all, if he used it before, it would attract unnecessary attention and suspicion. As a wizard who comes from a family with no connection to the magic world, theoretically he should not know the existence of the Room of Requirement. Today's questioning of Nick finally gave Ryan a reasonable excuse to discover the Room of Requirement.
After saying goodbye to Nick, Ryan returned to the dormitory to pack up and prepare for class. He had just finished his first class and was on his way to the next class when he saw two senior students using magic to levitate a stretcher towards the school hospital.
"The diary is in my hand, how come something happened? But why do some people look regretful, some look happy, but no one looks scared?" Ryan walked into the classroom with a puzzled look on his face. As soon as he arrived, he received a shocking news: Lockhart was sent to the hospital because of injury.
After asking his classmates and combining the information he knew, Ryan deduced the whole story: because Ryan's actions in class yesterday made Lockhart feel that he did not highlight his abilities, so when teaching senior students today, he chose a rune snake to come to the classroom in the hope of intimidating the senior students.
So when he went to the basement to get the runes from the potion storeroom, he was unfortunately bitten by the runes. Fortunately, Professor Snape, who was in the potions class next door, heard the noise and rushed to rescue him immediately. Otherwise, Hogwarts would probably have to change the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher this year.
After learning the news, Ryan had to admit that Professor Lockhart was a wolf who was willing to sacrifice his life to maintain his glorious image. From this point, it can be seen that although he may not be a qualified teacher, he is definitely a qualified idol, not much worse than those idols who have a fever of 60 degrees Celsius and insist on contacting for 26 hours a day.
However, when it was Defense Against the Dark Arts class again two days later, Ryan began to sincerely hope that Professor Lockhart would get better soon, because Headmaster Dumbledore actually asked Professor Snape to substitute for the class.
Time quickly came to Saturday morning, and Ryan got up early because today was the day he had an appointment with Hermione to learn magic combat.
After having breakfast together, Ryan took Hermione to the tapestry on the eighth floor where the troll beat up Barnabas. The troll on the tapestry stopped beating up Barnabas and looked at the two curiously.
"We are going to practice magic, why are we here? It looks like there is nothing here."
"Be patient, this is the place that Nick, the ghost of Gryffindor, told me. He should not have lied to me." Ryan concentrated his thoughts: I need a place to practice fighting. When he turned around for the third time, Hermione beside him whispered, "Ryan, look." Ryan looked at the place where Hermione pointed, and there was a door on the bare wall. Ryan held the door handle and opened the door, then called Hermione and said, "Come in, it looks safe here."
When the two walked in, they found that the room was very spacious. There were no windows in the room, and the light came from the torches on the wall. There was a row of bookshelves next to the wall, and the bookshelves were full of books.
There were a lot of instruments at the other end of the room. Ryan could only recognize a few that had appeared in the Defense Against the Dark Arts textbook. In the middle of the room was a pile of large satin cushions, which should be the same as the cushions in sports venues. They were used to protect people who practiced here.
Hermione immediately rushed to the bookshelf and excitedly stroked the spines of rows of thick sheepskin-covered books. Then she turned to Ryan and said, "Look at these books! Common Spells and Countermeasures, Outwitting the Dark Arts, and Self-Defense Spells. These books look more complete than the books in the library."
Seeing Hermione eager to try, Ryan quickly interrupted her and said, "Let's practice first. We will have plenty of time to read these books later. They won't run away here."
Afterwards, the two practiced the content of the Disarming Charm from last time. It seemed that Hermione had practiced for a long time in private after returning home, and not only practiced magic, but also exercised her body. So this time her magic attack was much more skillful than last time.
With Ryan's slight let-up, Hermione finally knocked Ryan's wand away, which made her very excited. Ryan shrugged, teaching is like this, learners must have a sense of accomplishment. Otherwise, long-term failure will seriously undermine a person's self-confidence.
After Hermione's excitement passed, the two began to discuss what to learn today. Originally, Hermione planned to further learn offensive spells, such as the Stunning Spell, but Ryan still managed to convince her to learn Armor Protection.
After finding the method of using armor in the "Self-Defense Spells", Hermione began his usual learning method: memorizing, while Ryan found a book from the bookshelf and started reading.
After a while, Hermione mastered the spell, and the two began to learn fighting. At the same time, they put armor on themselves and fired a disarming spell at each other.
After practicing for a while, Hermione clearly discovered the gap between the two: the function of the armor is to instantly build an invisible wall around oneself to block the magic flying towards oneself, but her armor can only block Ryan's attack, while Ryan can bounce his attack back with the armor.
During the break after more than an hour of practice, Hermione sat on the mat and said to Ryan: "It seems that you are more talented than me in this area. I should only be suitable for dealing with books."
"Don't say that. I'm not as good as you think. As long as you practice enough, you can do it." Ryan encouraged. He had another sentence in his heart. That is, if you fight a group of 100,000 zombies, it won't take a few days for you to master all the magic you need and how to use it appropriately.
