Chapter 66 The Real War
When Ryan arrived behind the nut wall, he found that the zombies' vanguard was less than 50 meters away. The robots lowered their centers of gravity and prepared to launch a plant attack. Ryan also took out his magic wand and prepared to cast a spell.
In the tradition of Viking wizards, the best tool to cast spells is not a wand, but a cold weapon inlaid with gems engraved with runes and with magic metals spelling out magic circles, such as a battle axe, spear or sword.
Unfortunately, Ryan didn't have any of the above things, so he had no choice but to use a magic wand to make up the numbers. Compared with those professional weapons, magic wands lack melee ability and excellent amplification effect for these combat magic. However, the advantage is that the price is lower and the scope of application is wider.
For example, if you cast the same combat magic, a magic weapon as a casting tool can even produce more than twice the effect of a magic wand. But the price is that such a weapon is at least three to five times the price of a magic wand, and it needs to be tailor-made. The most important thing is that this weapon can't do anything except fighting. You can't rely on it to brew potions or clean up the house.
Even when casting Transfiguration, a magic that is not purely used for combat, the effect is not as good as a wand. Ryan thinks this may be the reason why these magic weapons finally withdrew from the stage of history. After all, life is not just about fighting.
Soon the zombies came into range, and the robots on the human side began to pour fire on them. At the same time, Ryan waved his wand and released magic.
I started with some common magic, but the Stunning Spell was useless against the dead. It could only push them back a little, but they would stand up and move on after a few seconds. The Quick Imprisonment was useful, but it was so powerless against a sea of zombies, and was only useful against a single zombie.
Other spells are basically useless, such as Shatter and Shatter, which can only work on the bodies of zombies that have already fallen and disappeared. If you use the Fire spell against zombies, the ignited zombies will not burn out in a short time. Zombies that move forward with flames will bring more trouble to humans.
Finally, Ryan began to use his newly acquired ancient Viking life magic to fight these zombies. He raised his wand to draw a semicircle, and then chanted a spell in ancient Viking: "Unclean to Silence"
A pale ray shot out from the tip of Ryan's wand and hit a zombie wearing a rugby uniform. The heavy rugby uniform did not provide it with any defense, and the moment the ray of light hit it, the zombie turned into a pile of ashes, leaving only a rugby uniform falling to the ground.
Seeing how useful this spell was, Ryan began to shoot at the harder-to-beat football-clad zombies. During the battle, some spells accidentally hit the plants. However, as he had learned from the inheritance, these magics had no killing power against non-evil creatures.
Since there was no need to worry about accidental injuries, Ryan's attack frequency increased greatly. Especially after his comrades blew up the ice cart zombie that was covering the front, Ryan's spell reduced a lot of pressure on his comrades.
Originally, the comrades were not very happy to let Ryan, a kid, join the team, especially when they saw that he did not command any robots. They thought he was just here to cause trouble. However, they could not refuse the order of Dave, the leader. Now, after seeing Ryan's magical power, they began to actively cooperate with Ryan in the battle, constantly reporting the positions of special zombies one after another to guide Ryan in the direction of attack.
After more than ten minutes of fighting, this part of the zombies was completely wiped out. Fortunately, the high nut wall did not lose much. Ryan and his team took advantage of the gap before the next wave of zombies arrived and began to walk out of the protective wall to replenish potato mines on the ground. The sound of corn cannons was heard behind them. Dave and his team used powerful firepower to block the battlefield and buy enough time for frontline personnel like Ryan.
The war lasted for several hours in this tug-of-war. Even when it got dark, the zombies continued to attack in waves. Ryan could only lean on the robot to eat some dry food and drink some water during the intervals between the zombies' attacks. Then he and his teammates took turns to take a nap.
Ryan found that the number of zombies attacking far exceeded the number detected at that time, but fortunately, Dave released a batch of reconnaissance balloons to detect many places at night. Although they were all shot down in the end, they obtained valuable reconnaissance results.
The reconnaissance results show that the zombies have concentrated the power of the entire Green Leaf Plain. This means that the zombies' strength will be three times as much as expected. The good news is that once they are completely eliminated, the entire Green Leaf Plain will be within easy reach.
This news shocked everyone on the front line, especially in the second half of the night, when Kenway took the risk of sailing in the dark and brought backup plants and robots to the position. These substantial backups greatly boosted everyone's morale.
The next morning, the rising sun cast golden rays of light on the battlefield. The battlefield was in a mess, with the remains of zombies covering the entire land.
Ryan's eyes were bloodshot as he and his teammates gathered around the robot's heat vents, drinking the coffee they had just heated up. Starting at four in the morning, the zombies' attacks every half an hour suddenly stopped. Only some little zombies were thrown in as harassment, and the pressure on the entire line was suddenly relieved. However, Ryan and his teammates did not relax their vigilance. They felt that this was just the silence before the storm, and the final decisive battle could break out at any time.
Just as he finished eating the cold sandwich in his hand with hot coffee, the zombies on the opposite side let out a loud scream. The green bodies surged over like a tide. Ryan saw all kinds of zombies mixed together and rushed over here frantically. It seemed that the zombies chose to attack in waves, hoping to output the maximum attack in such a short time. Apply strong pressure to defeat the exhausted humans who have been fighting for a day.
Dozens of corn cannons on the platform opened fire first, followed by successive whizzing sounds in the air and explosions after hitting the ground. Amid the roar of thousands of cannons, huge corns fell among the zombies, making the entire group of zombies even more chaotic, especially the tall giant zombies that fell one after another, greatly reducing the pressure on the front line.
Then various pitcher plants also launched their attacks, with flying watermelons, frozen watermelons, cabbage corn kernels and butter in the air. These attacks weakened a large group of zombies layer by layer like peeling an onion.
But the zombies behind still ignored them and continued to rush towards the human position, stepping on the bodies of their fallen companions.
Ryan stood on a robot, looking at the zombies swarming in with a serious look. He held his wand tightly and prepared for the final round of battle.
