The Shopkeeper of All Worlds in the British Wizarding World
Chapter 6: The journey starts from Platform 9 and 43
Chapter 6 The journey begins at Platform Nine and Three Quarters
The next morning, Ryan's family got up early to pack. After breakfast, Lambert and Sally put on their coats to go out.
After loading their luggage, the three of them got in the car together. Ryan looked at Sally in the passenger seat and asked in surprise, "Mom, don't you have to go to work today?"
"This is the first time in your life that you are leaving home to study in another city, so I'm taking a day off today to see you off." Mrs. Sally smiled.
Because it was Sunday and there was a bit of traffic, it was around 10:15 when we arrived at King's Cross Station.
According to Mr. Arthur's previous reminder, they came to between platforms 9 and 10.
When they got here, Ryan discovered that there were more than a dozen pillars, and they didn't know which pillar the Nine and Three Quarters Station was located in.
You can't just knock them down one by one, that would be too stupid.
Fortunately, there was still more than half an hour before the train departed, so they still had enough time to find a platform.
After five minutes, when everyone was starting to get a little anxious, a voice that sounded a little timid came from the side.
"I'll remember to write you a letter every week and send it to you by owl."
"I hope you haven't forgotten, Neville." An old woman sighed.
After hearing this conversation, Ryan's eyes lit up and he looked in the direction of the voice. He saw a serious old lady and a round-faced boy, wearing black robes that didn't fit in with the surroundings, pushing a luggage cart towards him.
Ryan tugged at the corner of Mr. Lambert's clothes, then pushed the cart and followed.
"Hello, ma'am. I'm a freshman at Hogwarts. I want to go to platform nine and three quarters now. But I don't know where that platform is?"
"Muggle-born freshmen?" The old lady smiled and pointed at the boy next to her. "My grandson Neville is also a freshman this year. This should be your first time here." Then the old lady said to the two children, "Just go straight to the ticket gate between platforms 9 and 10. Don't stop, don't be afraid, just rush in. If you are nervous, you can run."
Then the old lady turned to the Ryan family and said, "Muggles can't enter that platform, so you will have to say goodbye outside. But don't worry, I will accompany the two children in."
After hugging his parents and comforting his mother whose eyes were beginning to turn red, Ryan pushed the cart towards the pillar where the platform was. When he was about to reach the wall, Ryan closed his eyes nervously.
But the expected collision did not happen, and he continued to push the cart forward. When he opened his eyes, a crimson steam locomotive stopped beside the platform crowded with passengers. The sign on the train read: Hogwarts Express, 11 o'clock.
Water vapor filled the platform. In the white mist came the calls of owls and people talking. Cats of all colors were running around under people's feet.
Soon, Neville and his grandmother came in from outside. The first few carriages were already full. The old lady took the two children to find an empty compartment in the middle back of the train.
After Ryan and Neville got on the car, Mrs. Longbottom used a levitation spell to help them put their luggage away. After instructing Neville, she slowly walked into the white mist and disappeared.
"Your grandma is a little strict, but she loves you very much." Ryan said to Neville.
"Maybe, but I'm still afraid of my grandma."
After a whistle, the train started. Ryan watched the trees and houses flash past the window, and a sense of excitement surged in his heart. He knew that this time he was no longer just a spectator of the legendary story, but a participant in the story. Because Neville was a little shy, the two of them fell into a bit of silence after introducing each other. At the awkward moment, Ryan suddenly found that a huge toad as big as an adult's palm was struggling to squeeze out from the crack of the door.
Ryan immediately pounced on the toad and caught it. Neville was surprised when he saw it and said, "I clearly put Laifu in my bag, how did it get out again?"
With the toad as the introduction, the two began to chat slowly. As they chatted, they found that they had a lot in common. For example, they were both the only child in the family, and were not raised by their biological parents. But the people who raised them loved them very much.
We were chatting animatedly when the door to the cubicle suddenly opened. A little brown-haired girl poked her head out and asked, "Is this free... Ryan, you're here?"
It turned out to be Hermione Granger. She got on the train a little late, so she couldn't find a seat in the front carriage.
After the three people introduced themselves to each other, Hermione asked Neville curiously, "You were born into a magical family, so you must know a lot of magic. Unlike us, we can only learn a little magic by ourselves in the short time before school starts."
"No, that's not the case." Neville replied, "My grandmother didn't let me touch a wand until I was 11 years old. They always thought that if children use a wand too early, bad things will happen. I can't even cast a single spell now. I feel like I'm still too stupid."
"No, it's not." Hermione and Ryan said in unison. Then Hermione made a gesture of invitation. Ryan cleared his throat and said, "Your self-esteem is wrong. I think your inferiority complex and external pressure have affected your studies. As long as you can make a reasonable plan, stick to it, and practice repeatedly. Even if it is magic learning, you should be able to gain something."
Ryan pointed at Hermione and said, "She and I go to the same school. In fact, she is much more gifted in studying than I am. But through a good study plan and repeated practice, I get better grades than her in every final exam. So work hard, and you will be fine. When we get to school, I think we can help each other and improve our studies together."
After Neville was given a lot of chicken soup, he looked better than before. The three began to exchange some of their experiences.
Ryan looked at Hermione and found that she didn't seem to be as arrogant and conceited as she was on the train in the original book. Ryan thought it might be because in the original story, Hermione came to the magical world alone. For an 11-year-old girl, leaving the familiar environment and familiar people to go to a completely unfamiliar place, she would definitely feel lonely and scared. So it was inevitable that she would use arrogance to disguise herself.
At noon, the three of them bought some food from the witch who was selling snacks in the car. After filling their stomachs, Ryan felt sleepy and fell asleep leaning against the seat, probably because he got up too early in the morning and was too excited afterwards.
After a while, Ryan woke up and found that the sun was about to set outside, and it was time to go to school. Ryan saw Hermione and Neville fell asleep leaning against their seats, so he went up to wake them up.
After that, the three of them took turns changing their clothes in the compartment, and the train slowed down, and it seemed that they were indeed arriving.
"The train will arrive at Hogwarts in five minutes. Please leave your luggage on the train and we will take you to school." This voice echoed on the train.
It looks like I don’t have to pull that heavy suitcase by myself anymore, which is great news.
Is this the magical world? Ryan felt that although he had been in two lives, he was still very nervous. He felt as if his stomach had turned upside down.
He turned his head and found Hermione scratching her hair a little nervously, and Neville's face began to turn pale.
The train slowly stopped, the door opened, and the three of them jumped off the train. They found themselves on a small platform, where students crowded together and occupied the entire platform.
Suddenly, there was a buzz in my head.
——Under your influence, the three-member savior team failed to meet on the train and gained 1 offset point.
What? Ryan stared at the system information in amazement. This meant that if he wanted to get more deflection points, he would need to cause trouble in Hogwarts. It seemed that his life in Hogwarts was not so peaceful.
