The Shopkeeper of All Worlds in the British Wizarding World
Chapter 431 New Plan
Chapter 431 New Plan
"I really hope the next gathering can come soon. Umbridge's Defense Against the Dark Arts class is a waste of time." Hannah said when the gathering ended. "If I only took her class, I would have failed my Defense Against the Dark Arts OWLs this year. If it weren't for this reading club to help me make up for it, I might have gotten a T."
This semester's reading club is becoming more and more like a fighting club. Because of Umbridge, the Defense Against the Dark Arts course has been basically abandoned, so everyone is now gathering together to mainly review knowledge in this area.
"The reading club was established to help each other." Ryan said to a few people who came over, "I think we will definitely get satisfactory results in the exam."
After seeing everyone off, Ryan and Hermione were cleaning up the place. Suddenly, the twins poked their heads in from the door stealthily and called out at the same time. "Ryan, there are some things we want to discuss with you."
"What's going on?" Ryan muttered as the obstacles turned back into tables, chairs and benches. After that, he explained things to Hermione and walked into the corridor and asked. "Tell me, why did you two call me out at this time, and why did you specifically avoid Hermione?"
"Well," Fred shrugged. "I think we're old enough adults to not need to continue full-time education."
"We originally planned to pass the NEWT test and get the certificate as our mother wanted, but now we can no longer stand this depressing atmosphere." George blinked. "Especially since we have opened a shop in Diagon Alley, it is a good opportunity for us to show our skills."
"So," Fred continued, "as the largest shareholder of our store, we think we should consult your opinion on this matter."
"Besides, Percy has told us several times before that you have guided his life direction many times and helped him make the right choices at critical moments. Although we have never gotten along well with Percy, we must admit that he is indeed the best person in the family in some aspects." George spread his hands. "So now that we have encountered the same problem, we also want to ask you about our lives."
"If you really need me to say anything, I can only say that your idea is really ill-considered." Ryan said, choosing his words carefully. "You know, if you do this, it will end your studies."
"We know," Fred said first.
"No, you don't know." Ryan shook his hand and said, "You may think this is cool and that it can show your rebellious spirit. You should know that Umbridge is not the only professor in the school. Have you considered the opinions of other professors? Not to mention that your mother supports you to open a shop, you should also fulfill your mother's wish for you. Otherwise, I will not be able to go to the Burrow in the future."
"But the current atmosphere—" George said a little depressed. "We just want to change the school."
"Your childish behavior can only change you." Ryan mercilessly revealed the truth. "I believe this castle will change, but it will never be changed by your behavior. So you should take the NEWT test, get the certificate, and then become a store manager."
Ryan raised his arms and put them on the shoulders of the two students. "I know the atmosphere in school is terrible right now, but please bear with me for a while. You will leave at the end of this year, and I will stay here for several more years. I believe things will get better soon. What are you still worried about?"
"Of course!" Seeing the twins agreeing with his point of view in frustration, Ryan decided to say something that could cheer them up. "After the exam, you can have a big one. Just make sure you don't get yourself sent to Azkaban." After watching the twins leave, Hermione opened the door and walked out. "Finally, it's all cleaned up. What did you talk about just now? It's not some prank plan, is it?"
"Hermione, you should believe that I'm not the kind of person who would stir up trouble." Ryan couldn't help laughing when he saw Hermione's expression that said "you're going to make it up". "Well, at least Umbridge doesn't deserve me to do something. I was indeed trying to dissuade the twins just now."
"I believe you." Hermione said after staring into Ryan's eyes for a few seconds. "By the way, I think the reading club is going well now, and we should be able to move on to the next step. What do you think we should do next?"
"We can edit a magazine." Ryan had thought about this before. "I found that the biggest problem among wizards nowadays is that they don't know anything about the Muggle world. Even Mr. Weasley, who claims to love Muggles the most, can't tell the difference between Muggle currencies, and doesn't know some common Muggle knowledge. In this case, the first step we should take is to educate wizards, at least to let them know what Muggles are like."
"You're right, the first step should be to understand." Hermione nodded. "Then how do we make them understand? By making a display board, exhibiting the real objects, or taking time out to talk to them?"
"These are all somewhat conventional, and the effects are poor." Ryan told Hermione this fact. "According to what I heard, this is how our school's Muggle Studies class is taught. And what it produces is a group of wizards who are required to wear Muggle clothing while wearing diving suits and carrying oxygen tanks to the campsite."
Hermione covered her mouth and laughed. She remembered the weirdly dressed wizards at the Quidditch World Cup last year. When she finished laughing, she asked, "So what do you think we should do?"
"I think we can start a magazine first." Ryan said seriously. This was the experience he had learned from the book he had read before. If you want others to accept your point of view, then the first thing is to let others know your point of view, which is inseparable from publicity. Since there are only a few ways to promote in the wizarding world, Ryan naturally thought of magazines.
"Magazine? Something like 'A Study in Transfiguration'." Hermione asked curiously. It seemed that the top student was studying even during his breaks.
"Oh, of course not. That's a bit too formal." Ryan shook his head. "We are promoting science, and this kind of highly professional academic magazine is not conducive to promotion. In my conception, this book will have very professional academic content, but it only accounts for a small part. Most of them are some humorous jokes or cartoons. For example, the guy wearing a diving suit and carrying an oxygen tank at the Quidditch World Cup can easily be used as a content for a cartoon to highlight how wizards misunderstand Muggles."
"That sounds good." Hermione nodded. "As long as the content is professional and accurate, the method used to express it is not the key point. After all, this is just a popular science book, not a textbook. Of course, I think that many people will buy this magazine. Because people like to read something interesting. Anyway, there are too few entertainment options for wizards."
"Yes! Besides that, we can also sell books to earn back some money, so that we can keep the magazine going." Ryan added. "You know, a magazine like The Quibbler that is written entirely out of hobby can easily be abandoned because the editor changes, but our book is used for publicity, and it must have an independent source of income to support it for a long time. Only in this way can our magazine achieve the ultimate goal and have enough influence to let all wizards understand the truth about Muggles."
"You make sense. Let's edit the sample and distribute it in the reading club first. If it works well, we'll move on to the next step." Hermione said when the two were about to reach the common room. "I hope everything goes well."
