Hermione and Ryan went to Hagrid the next day to persuade him not to give everyone a surprise during class. After all, Umbridge would find an excuse to get rid of teachers who she thought were too close to Dumbledore. But Hagrid thought that no one in his right mind would be willing to study the thorns and give up the Chimera.
Of course, he doesn't have a Chimaera now, not because he doesn't want to raise one, but because it's not easy for him to get Chimaera eggs. So Hermione seemed very depressed after trying to persuade Hagrid to no avail.
"I think we can try to follow Hagrid and see what he has prepared. If it's too dangerous, we can use other means to prevent him from talking about the animal." Ryan suggested.
Obviously, Hagrid didn't think there was anything wrong with the monsters he raised, so he naturally wouldn't hide the monsters' whereabouts. The next day, during the break after lunch, Ryan and his friends saw Hagrid carrying a whole sheep into the Forbidden Forest.
Not long after they followed him, Ryan and Hermione saw him stop at an open space in the woods and put the sheep on the ground. Then he made a strange, sharp sound that echoed in the dark woods, like the cry of a giant bird.
A few minutes later, several Thestrals came out of the dark woods, looked at Hagrid with their pupilless white eyes for a few seconds, then lowered their heads and began to tear the dead sheep with their fangs.
"This should, um, be less dangerous." Hermione said, looking at the Thestrals tearing mutton in the distance. "They have been pulling school carriages for so many years and I haven't heard of anyone being hurt. At least they are much safer than the semi-wild Hippogriffs."
"Yes." Ryan said as he looked at Hagrid, who was humming a little tune while feeding the Thestrals. "I had planned to let the animals go if they were too dangerous, but now it seems that Hagrid's choice of animals is not bad."
Although Hagrid's choice of animal was not bad this time, he still received a slanderous evaluation from Umbridge in class. I think Hagrid will never be evaluated highly in the end. In this class inspection, Umbridge tried hard to describe Hagrid as a mentally retarded giant because of his giant blood. Although Hagrid's giant blood was not exposed last semester due to Ryan's intervention, Dumbledore's assignment to Hagrid this time also made Fudge and his group guess this. Naturally, in this case, Hagrid's blood problem became a weapon for Fudge to use against Dumbledore.
"Another disgusting blood theorist." This is what Ryan said to Neville and Hermione beside him when they returned to the castle after class. "I guess she didn't become a Death Eater because she didn't find an organization."
"Didn't you say a few days ago that you opposed the principal letting those British giants go?" Harry, who was walking behind, heard Ryan's complaint and ran up to ask.
"I say again, I am different from Umbridge's cow. She opposes giants because she opposes this bloodline. She believes that any creature with giant blood is rude and brutal garbage and should be completely eliminated. What I oppose is the excessive leniency towards giants who kill innocent people. I believe that anyone who commits a crime must be punished, no matter whether he is a giant or a wizard." Ryan once again explained his philosophy.
"That's right." Harry finally understood what Ryan meant. He originally thought Ryan was somewhat dissatisfied with Dumbledore, but now that he heard this, he felt that Ryan at most had a disagreement with Dumbledore on certain things. However, the starting point was equally reasonable, so the little dissatisfaction he had previously disappeared.
December brought more snow, and an avalanche of homework for the fifth year students. As Christmas approached, Ryan and Hermione's work as prefects became increasingly heavy. They were responsible for supervising the decoration of the castle. Fortunately, since Ryan trapped Peeves in a suit of armor for a while last time, Peeves would now choose to hide when he saw Ryan instead of running up to make trouble. In addition, they had to take turns patrolling the corridors with Argus Filch, because Filch suspected that fighting might increase during the holidays.
However, during this inspection, Ryan unexpectedly gained Filch's favor: his wife, Mrs. Norris, had diarrhea, and Ryan volunteered to spend fifteen minutes making a potion to cure the cat. At the same time, through communication with the cat, he warned Filch of many of his previous mistakes in raising cats.
Filch really likes his cat, but he doesn't feed it scientifically. Otherwise, Mrs. Norris wouldn't be so skinny. A week after Ryan warned Filch, he even received a thank-you letter from Filch and a large box of Honeydukes candy. Because after following Ryan's instructions, his cat became healthier at a visible speed in this week, and its appearance looked much rounder.
"You shouldn't have punished the cat." Ron said after finding out where the box of candy came from. "I always feel that the cat will sneak after anyone, you are aiding the enemy." "I think Ryan did the right thing." Ginny disagreed. "Filch is annoying, but the cat is not bad. It just follows its owner's orders."
"That's what I think," Ryan said. "More importantly, the cat will become lazier when it gets fat, so the chances of us being caught by it will be much lower. Filch's darling will grow healthier, and we will also be less likely to be caught. Isn't this a win-win situation?"
"Yeah." Harry reacted at this time. "I was wondering why I saw the cat less frequently in the past two days. Now I think it's all Ryan's fault!"
The most important thing these days, besides decorating the castle, is the Christmas plan. That day in the library, Hermione asked Ryan, "Ryan, where are you going during the holidays?"
"Well, I'm planning to go to Russia," Ryan said, stopping writing.
"Russia? What are you going there for? Our parents are in China this year. I thought you would choose to stay in school?"
After hearing Hermione's question, Ryan waved his hand to signal Hermione to come closer, and then whispered in her ear, "Haven't Hegra failed to win over the giant? I plan to go to the giant alone to solve this problem. Since I have the ability now, I will try my best to prevent the massacres of Muggles like those decades ago from happening again."
"You are right. Dumbledore will definitely not accept your plan." Hermione was very smart. She knew what Ryan would do after a little thought. "I will go with you."
At this point, Hermione saw Ryan, who wanted to refute, raised his palm to him, indicating that he should let her finish her words. "I said last time that I don't want you to be alone when facing danger again. Besides, I have been preparing for this direction for a long time, and it's time for me to go on stage."
"-Okay." Ryan thought about it and agreed to Hermione's request to follow him out. On the one hand, Hermione was not powerless now. At least she could escape unscathed when facing one or two Death Eaters. Having such a powerful comrade in battle could help a lot. On the other hand, Hermione's personality was the kind of person who would devote herself to the direction once she determined it. And now that she had decided to fight, Ryan decided that it would be better for him not to try to stop her.
"I'll ask Penelope to help you with the flight tickets and paperwork." Ryan said at last. Penelope is now the manager of the joke shop because she is the best of the many people recruited last time and is more reliable. As a Muggle wizard, she gave up her career in the Ministry of Magic after discovering that the Ministry of Magic was not friendly to people of her background and chose to become a clerk in the joke shop.
Of course, Ryan and his friends announced that they were going on a skiing trip abroad, which naturally aroused Harry's envy, but he soon stopped being envious because Ron told him that Mrs. Weasley invited Harry to spend Christmas with her at the Burrow.
In short, everyone is looking forward to the Christmas holidays now.
