The next morning, when Ryan got up and packed up to go out, he found the whole house in chaos. Mrs. Weasley was angry and worried that everyone might miss the train if they were too slow.
"The main problem is still with Moody," said Hermione. "Mad-Eye is complaining that we can't leave without Sturgis Podmore, otherwise we'll be one less guard."
"Guards? For whom?" Ryan felt a little dizzy.
"Give it to me, even though I don't want it." Harry's voice was somewhat helpless. "I think Voldemort is lurking and waiting for the right moment, but Mad-Eye seems to think he will jump out from behind a trash can and kill me."
Finally, everything was sorted out, and the guards who were supposed to come also arrived. Everyone walked outside into the weak September sunshine. The weather today was very good. It could be said to be a crisp autumn day. Because the relationship with the Ministry of Magic had been completely messed up before, they could not borrow a car, so now everyone could only walk to King's Cross Station.
Fortunately, the journey was not long. After walking for 20 minutes, they arrived at King's Cross Station. Everything was normal on the way, nothing major happened, and naturally there was no sudden attack as Moody had expected.
Moody had arrived at the station by then, helping everyone with their luggage. He wore a porter's hat that was pulled low over his uneven eyes, and all the luggage was piled on a cart he was pushing. Moody approached everyone and whispered to them that everything was fine, then limped through the archway with the cart.
Ryan and the others followed to Platform 9 3/4. They unloaded the boxes from Moody's luggage cart one by one. When they were almost done, Fred, George and Ginny arrived with Lupin. Fortunately, everything went well there too.
After getting on the train and saying hello to Harry and the others, Ryan pulled his luggage and walked to the front of the train with Hermione. Unlike the compartments they sat in the back in the past, this time they had to go to the prefect compartment at the front of the train to receive instructions from the male and female head of the student union, and then patrol the corridor from time to time.
Arriving at the front prefect's carriage, the two student union presidents were already there. Ryan discovered that this year's male student union president was their acquaintance Cedric. Naturally, this change was welcome.
When the train started, the prefects arrived one after another. Among the new prefects this year, Ravenclaw was Anthony Goldstein and Padma Patil, Slytherin was Malfoy and Pansy Parkinson. Hufflepuff was Ernie Macmillan and Hannah Abbott. After seeing Ryan and Hermione, Hannah came over to say hello to them and said that she hoped that the content of this year's reading club would be closer to the district OWLS exam.
"This is definitely the focus this year," Hermione whispered to comfort him. "I spent half of the summer vacation organizing information about the OWLS exam, and I plan to share it with the reading club after school starts."
After chatting for a few minutes, everyone arrived. The two student union presidents gave the newly elected prefects some information about the Hogwarts Student Union and then started to arrange work. Ryan and Hermione were assigned to patrol the carriages in the back half of the train.
"I heard that the prefects of Slytherin and Ravenclaw have always patrolled the front half of the train, while the prefects of Gryffindor and Hufflepuff have patrolled the back half. Is this true?" Before leaving, Ryan asked Cedric about a little gossip he heard from Percy.
"It's true, because the school directors' compartment is at the front of the train, and most of the users are Slytherin students. In this case, in order to avoid conflicts, we have tried to separate everyone since half a century ago." Cedric shrugged and said, "Of course, I think some pure-blood wizards' so-called bloodline makes them superior is a complete lie. I really don't understand why they would conflict with others for such a lie."
After saying goodbye to Cedric, Ryan and his team began their inspection. Seeing that no one was paying attention to them, Hermione approached Ryan and complained, "Although I hate Malfoy, at least Malfoy is qualified to be the prefect of Slytherin. But why is that cow Pansy Parkinson qualified to be the prefect? She is dumber than a mountain troll with a concussion."
"Maybe Slytherin thinks Pansy is more representative of the girls in their school." Ryan used a joke to calm down Hermione who looked a little angry. He could understand why Hermione was angry. They were both fifth-year female prefects, and no one wanted to be compared to a good-for-nothing when people thought about this matter. After dealing with a few students who were playing with frisbees in the corridor, Ryan and his team came to the box where Harry and Ron were. After entering the box, he saw that everyone in the box seemed a little angry.
"What happened?" Ryan took out the sandwich that Mrs. Weasley had stuffed into their mouths that morning and took a bite and asked.
"Don't mention it. Malfoy just came over to provoke us, and then showed off that he is now a prefect." Ginny replied unhappily.
"The other prefect of Slytherin is Pansy, and they can only choose this kind of people." Hermione also sat down and took a crucible cake from the snack pile on the seat. "It's very strange, isn't the Malfoy family a core member of the Death Eaters? Why is he so active at this time and still has the mind to provoke Harry." Because there were only five of them in the box, everyone could talk about some confidential matters.
"Maybe his father is now allowed to kiss the You-Know-Who's robe, and he may feel that his good days are coming. Of course, it is also possible that his family has reached some unspeakable agreement with the Ministry of Magic. Didn't Harry say that he saw Lucius Malfoy and Fudge having a private conversation away from others?" Ginny analyzed rationally.
After that, several people began to discuss the recent confrontation between Dumbledore and the Ministry of Magic. Everyone was a little worried that the Ministry of Magic would interfere too much in the selection of the professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts this year. As they talked, the train continued to move north, and the weather was still unpredictable. Raindrops hit the windows intermittently, and then the sun lazily peeked out, and soon the clouds passed and covered it again. Night fell, and the lights in the carriage came on.
After a holiday away from school, everyone wanted to see Hogwarts Castle as soon as possible. But it was a moonless night, and the car windows were smudged by rain, so they could only see darkness outside.
"We have to change clothes." Hermione said at last, and everyone hurriedly opened the boxes and put on school robes. Ryan and she carefully put the prefect badge on their chests, then looked at each other and nodded with satisfaction.
Finally, the train slowed down slowly, and they heard a commotion again, as everyone was busy gathering their luggage and pets and preparing to get off the train. Ryan, Hermione and Harry said goodbye and rushed to the exit of the carriage to maintain order. When they got on the carriage, they found that most of the students had already left the platform.
When it rained, everyone was in a hurry to get on the carriage. Ryan and the others saw Malfoy and his group of buddies, including Crabbe, Goyle and Pansy Parkinson, pushing aside several timid second-year students so that they could have a carriage to themselves.
"Waterproof and moisture-proof." Ryan asked Hermione to find a car first, and he wanted to go over and say a few words. But when he squeezed through the crowd, the carriage had already left. Ryan could only cast a rain-proof spell on the Hufflepuffs who were soaked.
"What kind of character..." Hermione had already found an empty carriage. After Ryan got in, Hermione was somewhat dissatisfied with Malfoy's behavior. "I must find a chance to report him. He has worn the badge for less than three minutes, and he is using it to bully others even more severely?"
"I support you on this point. We can't let people think that the prefects of Hogwarts are this kind of people." Ryan agreed.
Because the two of them fell behind, there were not many people left. After waiting for a few minutes without anyone getting on the carriage, the carriage started to head towards Hogwarts.
