Chapter 217: Hunting Dementors

After Wolfe pointed out that the notebook smelled of werewolves, Hermione seemed to be shocked by Wolfe's words and didn't speak for a long time. It was not until Ryan shook her that she responded and said, "I got this from the new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor Lupin. I was worried that I hadn't learned some knowledge in his class in the first half of the school year, so I asked him questions after class, and then he lent me this notebook."

"Defense Against the Dark Arts?" Wolfe nodded. "This profession does require frequent dealings with dark creatures, so it's normal to encounter werewolves. Maybe he got some of the flavor of werewolves into his book."

Under normal circumstances, no matter how imaginative a person is, he would never have thought that Dumbledore would actually invite a werewolf to be a professor in the school. So after listening to Wolfe's judgment, Hermione nodded in agreement.

Anyway, Lupin is not the kind of villain werewolf who likes to bite people randomly, so just be careful when the moon is full. So Ryan didn't care about it. Besides, Lupin was appointed as a professor at the school by Dumbledore. In this case, if you don't want to break up with Dumbledore, knowing that Lupin is a werewolf is useless.

Soon they ignored the topic of werewolves and continued to talk about what they had seen on this trip. It was not until almost time for dinner that they said goodbye to Wolfe, who was reluctant to leave.

Because of Sirius's escape from prison this year, the Dementors left their old nest, Azkaban, and went to Hogwarts to serve as guards. Ryan has always been very curious about this creature, especially after mastering the magic of life, he wanted to study this strange creature very much. And this time the Dementors came to Hogwarts and gave him such an opportunity.

Three nights later, after curfew, Ryan quietly got up from bed and, under the protection of the Disillusionment Spell, he reached the edge of the Forbidden Forest.

According to the information Ryan collected from the twins, the Dementors guarding the school entrance were the key targets, and there were dozens of Dementors gathered together, making it difficult to solve the problem silently. Ryan just wanted to catch a Dementor to study, and didn't want to cause trouble. So he chose the Dementors patrolling the Forbidden Forest at night.

There is another important reason for choosing the Dementors patrolling the Forbidden Forest as the target: several classmates whose family members work in the Ministry of Magic said in the common room that one or two Dementors patrolling the Forbidden Forest would occasionally disappear, and the Ministry of Magic suspected that they might be killed by some powerful creatures in the Forbidden Forest. If this is the case, it means that even if Ryan catches a few Dementors, it will not attract anyone's attention.

Because the Dementors would absorb the vitality of the surrounding areas wherever they walked, the patrol path in the Forbidden Forest that exuded a faint breath of death appeared very clear in Ryan's modified version of Hawkeye, which he activated with life magic. After using life magic to restrain his entire body's breath, Ryan quietly climbed a tree beside the patrol path and waited for the Dementors to come.

After a while, two Dementors came floating over from a distance. According to the description of a well-informed classmate, after losing Dementors many times, the Ministry of Magic realized that a team of Dementors that could enter the Forbidden Forest could only have two at most. Once this number was exceeded, it would be easy to be besieged by the creatures of the Forbidden Forest. Therefore, the Dementor teams patrolling here now are all two in a team.

Of course, this also gave Ryan enough opportunities. After all, if there were too many of them, he could guarantee to defeat them, but he basically couldn't catch them alive.

When the two Dementors floated under the tree, Ryan could feel the surrounding temperature suddenly became colder, and a mental attack attacked his soul. However, under the protection of the orthodox Taoist mind method, this soul attack had no effect on him.

At this moment, he seized the opportunity and jumped down from a tree branch two stories high, holding a yellow paper talisman in each hand and launching palm thunder at the two Dementors.

After a standard assassination move, Ryan landed on the snow and rolled to the side to avoid possible attacks. But when he drew out his wand and pointed it at the Dementors, he found that most of the bodies of the two Dementors had melted away and were hurriedly drifting to other places in an attempt to escape. "Damn it, we can't let them report the news." Thinking of this, Ryan subconsciously took out a paper talisman from the space bag on his waist and strung it on the wand, then waved the wand to draw a spell out of thin air, and after drawing it, he pointed at the Dementors' fleeing backs and shouted: "Thunder!"

As soon as the voice fell, a white flame appeared out of nowhere on the talisman paper and quickly burned it to ashes.

Then a silver-white lightning fell from the sky, split into two at the height of the treetops and struck the two fleeing Dementors.

With two sharp whistles like nails scratching a blackboard and two waves of negative energy impact, the two Dementors were chopped into black smoke. Ryan could also feel that the two energy balls full of negative energy in the detection range of his life magic suddenly disappeared.

This was the same as he had thought before, the thunder method was indeed very effective against this kind of filthy creature. But the problem now was that this kind of restraint represented too much lethality, and in actual operation it would directly destroy the Dementors instead of disabling them.

It seemed that he had only the backup plan. Thinking of this, Ryan quickly left the first ambush point and jumped on the branches to run towards the second ambush point.

The second ambush point was closer to the outskirts of the Forbidden Forest. Ryan judged that if the first ambush failed, the remaining Dementors would withdraw from the Forbidden Forest as quickly as possible, and the second ambush point he chose could just take a shortcut from the first ambush point to block the retreat of another group of Dementors.

Sure enough, when Ryan rushed to the tree at the second ambush point, he saw two Dementors rushing over from a distance. This is a major feature of Dementors: except for a few leaders, most of the other Dementors act on instinct. If they are a group, it's okay. When a few Dementors act alone, they can only act rigidly according to habit and lack sufficient adaptability.

So when these two Dementors retreated, they would just foolishly follow their patrol route, which gave Ryan the opportunity to ambush them.

When the two Dementors floated under the tree, a large red net covered them. Soon the Dementors were tied up in the net and could not move. Ryan jumped down from the tree, picked up the net and threw it into the Wanjie Grocery Store.

After throwing the two light Dementors into the Grocery Store of All Worlds, Ryan did not hear the sound of the grocery store deducting offset points. This meant that part of his previous guess was correct. Ordinary Dementors were just monsters that acted on instinct and did not have enough intelligence.

After harvesting two Dementors as trophies, Ryan immediately returned to the castle. After all, his goal had been achieved, and if four Dementors were missing at once, the Dementors would probably conduct a large-scale search. Ryan didn't want to run into a large group of monsters. What's more, he was in a hurry to return to the safety of the castle to study the Dementors.
