Hogwarts Raven's Claw
Chapter 25 Doubt and suspicion
Chapter 25 Doubt and suspicion
After successfully killing the troll, Mike felt that he had no strength left in his body. He struggled to stand up, leaned his back against the wall, made a more comfortable position, and began to wait for the professors to arrive.
The first person to arrive at the scene was Professor Flitwick. It was hard to imagine how he, with his short legs, managed to arrive before all the other professors.
But this is understandable. Mike is a student he is very optimistic about. If he died inexplicably at the hands of a stupid troll, he would blame himself for a long time.
When he arrived at the scene, what he saw was not the scene he expected of Mike being chased around by a troll.
Instead, Mike was sitting in the corner, holding a blackthorn wood wand and breathing heavily to rest. Not far from him was the troll that had forced them to suspend the Halloween dinner.
But now the giant monster could no longer move, and its entire upper body was roasted.
Especially the head and neck, which were almost burned to only charred bones.
Its hands were still firmly fixed behind its back by the restraining spell, and its entire body was bent in an extremely twisted posture.
The right thigh was broken, and the exposed bone spurs could be clearly seen outside the wound. On the ground was a large pool of dark red liquid, which was the giant monster's coagulated blood.
The air was filled with a strong stench, mixed with a hint of the aroma of barbecue. This mixed smell was guaranteed to make people never want to eat barbecue again in their entire life.
Mag and others who arrived later were shocked by the scene. They had thought that perhaps Mike, a first-year student, could defeat the troll with his own wisdom.
But what was unexpected was that the giant monster would be killed in an almost brutal way.
As for Hermione and Harry, they were already vomiting to their heart's content.
"Are you okay?" Professor Flitwick loved Mike the most. When everyone else was shocked by the troll's death, only Professor Flitwick reacted and started asking about Mike's condition.
"It's okay, Dean. I'm just a little exhausted."
"I'm glad you're okay! You did a great job! Beautiful fire spell. I was far worse than you when I was your age."
It seemed that Flitwick didn't care about the troll's life or death at all, he only cared about Mike's safety.
But some people don't think so.
"How dare you! How dare you do this!" Professor McGonagall was furious. "Do you know how dangerous this is? The giant monster can easily crush you to death with just one finger!"
Hermione was unhappy to hear Professor McGonagall say this about Mike. She suppressed her nausea and said, "It's all my fault! Mike ran into the troll because he took me to the hall. He was the only one left to hold the troll back because he wanted to protect me."
Professor McGonagall was a little embarrassed by Hermione's retort, but fortunately Professor Flitwick came to her rescue.
"Okay, it's enough that everyone is safe." Flitwick helped Mike up, "Also, to commend Mike's bravery and wit, Ravenclaw will get 20 extra points!"
Mike was a little touched. After being in this world for so long, Professor Flitwick was still the first person who was truly kind to him.
He could feel that Flitwick was looking at him as if he were a promising junior of his own, a look he had never felt before in his two lifetimes.
"Well, we can't stay here for long, let's go back quickly. Mike needs to go to Madam Pomfrey for a check-up." After that, Flitwick and Hermione helped Mike away from the smelly women's restroom.
McGonagall felt mixed emotions. Hermione was her favorite student, and her personality was very similar to hers when she was young. Looking at Hermione supporting Mike, Professor McGonagall actually felt like her cabbage was being eaten by a pig.
She looked at Mike and Hermione, then turned around to look at Harry and Ron who were still vomiting. McGonagall became angrier and angrier. She grabbed the two of them by the ears and walked towards Gryffindor.
Snape was the only one left at the scene. He hadn't said a word just now, and his presence was even pitifully low, which was somewhat inconsistent with his personality.
At this moment, he did not choose to leave like others. Instead, he scanned the area again and again, trying to reconstruct the entire process of the battle just now. This was not difficult for him.
Finally, his gaze stayed on the troll's hands that were still tied behind his back and his right leg that was broken but still tightly attached to his left leg, and he did not take his gaze away for a long time.
Madam Pomfrey was eating pumpkin pie when Hermione and Professor Flitwick took Mike to the infirmary. She had not yet finished the dinner because of the troll incident.
It was already late at night when Madam Pomfrey finished examining Mike. Although Mike was just exhausted, Madam Pomfrey decided to let Mike rest in the infirmary for a night just to be on the safe side.
After confirming that Mike was fine, Hermione reluctantly left the infirmary under the escort of Professor Flitwick and others.
At this time, in the headmaster's office at Hogwarts, Snape was reporting to Headmaster Dumbledore what he had just seen and heard.
"Our dear Mr. Townley is a ruthless character. Not only does he have amazing talent in fighting, but he also has a cruel heart." Snape said in his signature low voice.
Headmaster Dumbledore, who was sitting at the desk opposite him writing something, did not say anything. Instead, he raised the hand holding the pen and motioned for Snape to continue.
"He first used the Leg-Locking Curse to limit the monster's movement speed, which was very clever." Snape walked to Dumbledore's desk. "Only wizards with rich experience in hunting demons know how to deal with giant creatures in this way."
"Mr. Townley could have escaped unscathed after the Leg Lock Curse took effect, but he did not do so.
He chose to use the Binding Spell to immobilize the troll, and finally used the Fire Spell to burn the troll to death.
Do you know what this means?
This means that Mr. Townley still chose to kill an enemy that had completely lost its ability to resist. This is not an idea that a first-year wizard should have. "
Dumbledore finally stopped what he was doing, raised his head and said to Snape expressionlessly: "Thank you for your hard work, go and have a rest."
Snape turned and left after hearing this, without any hesitation.
The office became so quiet that even the crackling of the burning wood in the stove could be heard clearly.
Dumbledore did not continue with the work at hand. He stood up and walked to the side of Fawkes, the phoenix, who was preening his feathers on the bracket in the corner.
He gently scratched the back of Fox's head. Fox felt very comfortable with the scratch. He squinted his eyes and tilted his head back.
"It seems we need to find time to talk to Little Mike." A voice so soft that it was almost inaudible came out of Dumbledore's mouth.
Fawkes did not seem to have heard clearly what Dumbledore had just said. He opened his eyes and stared at Dumbledore with a puzzled look.
