Chapter 24 Welcome to S.H.I.E.L.D.

"Sorry, sir, I failed to complete the mission." Coulson said with a frustrated face.

There was no way around it. Tony had just returned to the United States and hadn't fully recovered from the nightmare. He had a lot of things to consider and think about.

Like shutting down the weapons manufacturing department, or that thing on his chest, so he had no time to pay attention to Coulson.

"He is indeed Howard's son." The mysterious man said in the video call window of the car communicator, "He has the same bad habits as his father."

"Sir, what should we do now? We haven't found any conclusive evidence of Obadei's crime, so we can't alert him. Now that Tony is back, Obadei will definitely find a way to deal with him." Coulson said after thinking for a while.

"This matter is not that simple." The mysterious man said in a deep voice: "I have investigated. The Ten Rings Gang is not an ordinary gang. We need unconventional forces to prevent their attacks."

"You mean superpowers?" Coulson understood what the other party meant. If the Ten Rings really had terrible abilities, Tony would be in danger. And ordinary agents could not protect him at all. They needed some special people.

"Is Agent Barton not here?" Coulson asked. He felt that with Hawkeye's archery skills, there would be no problem protecting Tony.

"Unfortunately, he is on another mission." The mysterious man said, "Do you have a suitable candidate on your list?"

The so-called list is S.H.I.E.L.D.'s record of people with special abilities. This task is now assigned to Coulson.

After a period of investigation, he found some people with special powers. However, there were not many of them and their abilities were average. He thought about it and felt that there seemed to be no suitable candidates on the list.

Wait!
Just when he was about to say no, he remembered a person whose name was not on the list because Coulson didn't know what his abilities were, nor did he know his true identity.

"I think there's someone who might be suitable," Coulson replied. "He's a pizza delivery man."

……

"Finally, I don't have to eat frozen sandwiches anymore." Sitting at the dining table at home, William looked at the steaming steak on the table with moist eyes, and he looked so moved that he was about to cry.

William recently found a part-time job at McDonald's, and now he has a little money, so he doesn't have to worry about sleeping on the street. So he finally reluctantly bought a steak, of course, it was a cheap steak on sale at the supermarket for a limited time.

“Emmm…the steak is so delicious.”

William wiped the tears from his eyes, his face full of happiness. Was he really moved to tears because of the steak? How could it be possible? He just felt his eyes burning when he was cutting onions.

You know what, the seared onion steak tastes really good. The hot steak is paired with sweet onions, and garnished with some cherry tomatoes and broccoli. This is definitely the most expensive meal William has had since he traveled through time.

It has been two weeks since he came to the Marvel world. He has caught thieves, beaten bank robbers, infiltrated gangs, and fought Hydra. With the help of the Overwatch system, he is getting stronger and growing every day.

William now holds the secret of Hydra in his hands. He has been keeping a low profile these days. Apart from delivering pizzas every day as a part-time worker, he has done fewer heroic deeds.

He had robbed someone else, so Hydra must be looking for him. Maybe a Hydra agent was standing at his door now, ready to give him a surprise.

There was a ding-dong sound, and William was startled because it was the sound of his doorbell.

Just as he was thinking that someone from Hydra would come to check the water meter, the doorbell rang. Who was outside the door? Could it really be Hydra?
Thinking of this, William took out the frying pan he had just used to fry steak from the kitchen and walked towards the door cautiously. He held the frying pan in one hand and prepared to open the door with the other. If there really was someone from Hydra outside the door, he would subdue him in an instant.

"One, two, three..." William counted silently in his mind, and as he opened the door, he also swung the frying pan at the person outside the door, but just before hitting the other person's forehead, he quickly stopped. Because this person was not Hydra, but Phil Coulson, the long-lost SHIELD agent.

"Mr. Lister, what do you mean?" Coulson was stunned. At this time, the bottom of the frying pan was less than one centimeter away from him.

"Ahem." William immediately put down his weapon and said embarrassedly: "You know, the security in this area is not very good."

Coulson walked into the house. The place was still as dirty and messy as the last time he came.

He dusted off the sofa and sat down. William asked curiously, "Agent Coulson, what do you want to see me about this time?"

Coulson looked at William's harmless face. Who would have thought that this guy claimed to be from the future? He didn't believe it at first, but as the investigation deepened, he found that something was wrong.

These days he has been reading books about time travel or the end of the world every day. He thinks that either William is crazy or he is crazy.

"Our boss wants to see you." Coulson said straight to the point.

"Can I refuse?" William asked. The boss Coulson was talking about must be the director of SHIELD. He knew that he would have to face SHIELD sooner or later, so he had been fooling Coulson crazily before and paved the way for his next performance.

It seems that he is going to visit S.H.I.E.L.D. this time.

"No." Coulson shrugged, "You can choose to go with me, or I will knock you out and take you away."

"..."

A red convertible vintage car was running on the road. William, sitting in the passenger seat, couldn't help but say, "It's already the 21st century, why are you still driving such an old car?"

"What do you know? This is Laura's charm." Coulson, wearing sunglasses, said coolly.

"Laura." William complained, "You actually gave it a girl's name."

In the chaotic Brooklyn, the traffic problem was very serious. They had not gone far before the road ahead was jammed with traffic jams. All they could hear were the honking of cars and the yelling of drivers. It seemed that they would not be able to move for a while.

"Maybe there was an accident ahead?" William yawned.

"No, our boss hates it most when people are late." Coulson said, turning on a device in the car.

Suddenly, the Laura vibrated, and William was surprised to see that its four tires began to flip down and become parallel to the ground, and the entire body of the car slowly rose from the road and hovered in the air.

"Wow, this car can actually fly." William exclaimed. Not only him, but many other people also widened their eyes when they saw this scene.

In an instant, Laura flew out. The red convertible vintage car was speeding in the air, whizzing past the tops of the congested vehicles.

Coulson smiled smugly. So what if there was a traffic jam or an accident?

"My Laura is the coolest!"
