Bringing a System to the Beast World
Chapter 689: Be patient
Chapter 689: Be patient
A figure stood not far from them in the darkness of the night. Under the pitch-black rain, a large, bony hand exerted a slight force, and the sharp weapon that had pierced through the orc was pulled out of the already lifeless corpse.
As the sticky footsteps drew closer, a sinister smile curled at the corner of the man's cold face in the night, utterly eerie.
The next morning, even the wind in the forest, which had been raining all night, was damp.
Wu Yue, who was tidying her clothes and getting ready to go out for food, was suddenly drawn by a series of chaotic exclamations outside.
"What happened?"
After quickly tidying her clothes, Wu Yue pulled back the animal skin curtain and got up to go outside.
"It must have been because the weather was too hot and humid last night that something happened to those Kuma people who had parasites in their bodies."
A slightly deep voice came from a tent a little further away. Wu Yue turned around and saw Yuan Lang struggling to get up, his face slightly pale.
The step he was about to take immediately stopped: "What's wrong? Why do you look so pale?"
Yuan Langmo frowned, his pale, bloodless lips pressed together, as if he was trying to suppress the discomfort in his body: "Because the parasites in my body that were suppressed by the herbs were very restless when it rained, and they only calmed down after the rain stopped."
Wu Yue quickly stepped forward and helped him up: "Why didn't you tell me you were feeling unwell? Honestly, you..."
Before she could say anything more, the animal skin curtain that she had just half-lifted was suddenly pulled up by the newcomer, and a slightly serious voice rang out from outside the tent: "Wizard Moon, please come out with the orc warriors who came back with you yesterday."
Something has happened in the tribe, and the high shaman and chieftain have ordered us to inspect every tent and every tribesman.
Wu Yue patted Yuan Lang, who was pale beside her, and said, "You can continue sleeping. I'll go out and take a look."
Yuan Lang obediently grabbed a corner of the animal skin blanket and lay down, but his eyes under the blanket held a hint of darkness and coldness.
When Wu Yue stepped out of the tent, many members of the Kuma tribe were already standing in the small open space of less than five square meters. Leading them was the burly orc warrior who had been following the Kuma chief.
“Wizard Moon, please forgive our next actions. Your tent and the orc warriors inside need to be inspected.”
Wu Yue smiled and nodded: "This concerns the safety of the tribe. Of course I will cooperate with the inspection, but the orc in the tent is not feeling well and is still resting, so I'm afraid he won't be able to walk out on his own. Please send two orc warriors to carry him out."
Seeing the burly orc frown and want to refuse, Wu Yue quickly said, "The parasites reacted strongly to last night's rain, so the orc warrior next to me was tormented all night and didn't have the strength to get up."
Upon hearing this, the burly orc frowned, his thick brows furrowing: "Then the orc can't get up?"
Wu Yue nodded helplessly, but the next second, as if she had thought of something, two small flames of anger suddenly ignited in her eyes: "Speaking of last night, I was just about to talk to the healing wizard or the chieftain about how I was gathering herbs in my tent last night."
In front of everyone in front of the tent, Wu Yue angrily recounted how someone had tried to steal the parasite powder the day before.
"That concerns the lives of all the people in the Kuma tribe, and the orcs you patrolled didn't react at all. If something goes wrong with the powder, who will be responsible if the High Priest blames you!"
These words struck a chord, causing not only the orc warriors on patrol to break out in a sweat, but even the burly orc who had been following the chieftain.
After casually pointing two orc warriors inside to inspect the area, he hurriedly turned and headed towards the chieftain's tent.
Watching them leave, Wu Yue's angry expression vanished instantly. After her eyes flickered several times, she calmly turned and went back into the tent. Yuan Lang, who was feeling unwell, had already sat up and was leaning against the pillow behind him, looking at her with the eyes of a big dog that had just wrecked the house and was being scolded by its owner.
The little flame in Wu Yue's heart was extinguished with a "poof".
"Hmph, Yuan Lang warriors are so powerful, they can still go out and cause trouble even when they're sick, so why are you looking at me like that now?"
The orc scratched his cheek, a little embarrassed: "I really did go to get hay, but I heard some rude people on the way, and I couldn't help but teach a few a lesson."
She glanced at Wu Yue secretly and saw that she looked normal, so she felt a little relieved: "Don't worry, I only beat up that skinny old man, I didn't kill him."
"Ding~"
Suddenly, a clear voice rang in her mind, and Wu Yue's eyes lit up instantly as if she had just remembered something: "Master, is the medicine powder ready?"
The chubby, short man wiped away imaginary sweat, his usually soft voice now revealing a hint of exhaustion: "After working overtime, it's finally done, but this small amount is only enough for ten people."
After saying that, the chubby little hand waved, and Wu Yue felt something cool appear in her palm. When she looked up, it was indeed a small, plain-colored porcelain bottle with a smooth and delicate texture.
"Is it a powder for treating parasites?"
The orc's deep voice sounded in her ear, and his warm breath brushed against her almost transparent earlobe, stirring up a layer of fine hairs.
Wu Yue's small ears twitched involuntarily. She coughed lightly twice, stood up with a shifty look in her eyes, took the bamboo tube containing clean water, and turned to hand it to Yuan Lang.
He poured out some more medicine powder for him: "Take your medicine quickly. Once we get to the tribe and settle things in the Linhe Forest, we'll head to the Eel Tribe to take over our coastal territory."
Yuan Lang glanced at her pink ears with a playful look, chuckled, and took the water and medicine powder, obediently swallowing them.
The two then gathered the orc warriors of the Snow Tiger tribe together and distributed the medicine powder to them one by one.
After everyone had taken the medicine powder, Wu Yue notified the patrolling orcs to invite a healing wizard over.
An excited healing wizard, sporting large dark circles under his eyes, sat in Wu Yue's not-so-spacious tent, gazing longingly at the edge of the encampment.
"Why haven't you come back yet?"
Heaven knows how much the old man has suffered these past two days. New members of the tribe have been infected with parasites, and the number of people in the quarantine area is increasing.
Speaking of that terrifying parasite that can burrow right through a person, some of the tribespeople in the settlement are filled with fear, afraid that they might be infected by that horrible insect at any time.
"Even if the worms are killed inside your body, they still need to be expelled. Please don't worry, just wait a bit."
Update.
