Devouring World Dragon

Chapter 62 Expulsion from Assaj

Chapter 62 Expulsion from Assaj

(Because there will be a huge plot twist coming up, I've been thinking about it for a long time, so I can only maintain one update a day. I hope readers won't mind.)
In the Garden of Asgard, Baldr, the god of light, sat quietly in the garden. Unlike other gods who loved battle, he, as the chief god, unexpectedly preferred reading. He liked any book as long as it contained words.

“Chirp…”

The cheerful chirping of birds filled my ears.

And just as he was sitting quietly reading in the garden, suddenly...

"call!"

With a sharp whistling sound, a spear gleaming with a cold light suddenly flew towards him. At that moment, the God of Light, Baldr, hadn't even had time to react, only managing to show a hint of surprise on his face.

Just as the spear was about to strike Badr's body, it suddenly fell weakly and limply to the ground with a loud "bang," leaving only the laughter of several gods in the distance. Hearing the distant laughter, the astonished Badr could only smile and continue reading.

Since Baldr had sworn an oath to all things in the universe, he could no longer be injured or in any life-threatening danger. Thus, throwing various weapons at Baldr, the god of light, became a new game that the bored gods enjoyed.

Baldr, being of a gentle nature, didn't say anything about the new game his kin were playing on him. Even if it were a weapon that couldn't hurt him, given the nature of these audacious and troublesome Norse gods, they would often throw it at each other as a game.

Not far away, a majestic and tall god looked at Baldr, the god of light, with some envy and loneliness. He was Hoder, the god of darkness and brother of Baldr. But unlike his brother, Baldr was tall and handsome and loved by all the gods, while Hoder, because of his ordinary appearance, was inconspicuous under the brilliance of his brother.

He possessed power second only to Thor, and he worked tirelessly, never failing to complete the tasks assigned to him by his father Odin. However, everyone focused on Baldr and ignored him.

A strange jealousy ignited in his heart, but he didn't let the feeling linger for long, after all, he still respected his brother.

He gazed at Badr in the distance and sighed.

"Ugh……"

In an instant, two sighs rang out simultaneously.

Hoddle quickly turned around, only to see the handsome Loki behind him, munching on his apple and sighing.

"Why are you here?"

Hoddle frowned slightly. Ever since Loki tried his best to defend his children, the relationship between the gods and Loki had been deteriorating to the point that now, almost all the gods subconsciously avoided Loki and distanced themselves from him.

He was isolated.

Only a very few gods, such as Thor and Baldr, still maintain some relationship with Loki, while Hodr is clearly not among them.

Loki glanced at him, but instead of answering directly, he sighed.

"The insignificant and humble younger brother, whose brilliance is overshadowed by his infinitely radiant older brother, is ignored and neglected... This feeling must be unbearable."

His pupils seemed to see right through Hoddle's heart as he spoke calmly.

Hoddle felt extremely uncomfortable under his snake-like eyes and turned to leave.

"That's true. The younger brother should give way to the older brother and not steal his spotlight. He should quietly be a supporter behind his older brother and not complain to him even if he has any grievances."

But Loki's calm words behind him made Hoddle stop in his tracks.

He stopped, remained silent for a moment, then turned and looked at Loki, who was eating an apple behind him, and said in a deep voice.

"What exactly do you want to say?"

Loki looked at him, his serpentine pupils icy cold, yet a mysterious smile played on his face.

"Although we shouldn't complain, it's okay for the younger brother to just vent a little to his older brother, right?"

As he spoke, Loki took a short mistletoe branch from his pocket, and then the mistletoe branch transformed into a longsword made of tree branch in his hand.

"Why don't you try throwing this longsword at your brother and vent your frustrations a little?"

Loki's whispered words echoed in Hoddle's ears, carrying a seductive magic.

After hesitating for a long time, Hoddle finally gripped the wooden sword in Loki's hand and turned to look at Baldr, the god of light, in the garden. In Hoddle's sight, Baldr, who was quietly reading in the garden, seemed to be surrounded by countless flowers and light, just like his life, infinitely brilliant.

He gripped the wooden sword in his hand with some nervousness, muttering softly to himself.

"Although we shouldn't complain, it's okay for the younger brother to just vent a little to his older brother, right?"

Although he hesitated for a moment, when he thought that his brother had been sworn to by the universe, he felt that it was just a little joke and nothing serious.

Behind him, in a place he couldn't see, Loki's pupils were filled with coldness and death.

Ferocity, cruelty, anger, hatred, rage, resentment...

His pupils were filled with all sorts of negative and dark emotions.

"It's okay for the younger brother to just vent a little to his older brother, right?"

Loki spoke silently, his pupils gradually turning into a terrifyingly dark black.

If the Valkyries were here, they would realize that they had never seen this mistletoe branch before...

Loki, using his runes, secretly hid the mistletoe branch, which had not sworn an oath to Baldr that it could harm the god of light.

At this moment, Hodr, the dark god whose power among the gods was second only to Thor, had already raised his wooden sword high. All the muscles in his body were taut and bulging, and his immense power was ready to be unleashed. The wooden sword was steadily aimed at Baldr, the light god who was still completely unaware.

"Oh!"

With a deafening roar, Hodr hurled the wooden sword in his hand, and Baldr, the god of light in the distance, fell to the ground...

Behind the astonished and bewildered God of Darkness Hodr, Loki, the god of fire and evil, and the god of deception, finally covered his forehead and chuckled.

"Hmph hmph hmph... Hohohoho... Hahahahahahaha!!!!"

He laughed so hard he bent over, his laughter filled with intense pleasure. This evil god, despised by all the gods, finally vented his dissatisfaction in a small way on his "brother," the infinitely glorious god-king.

What he said to Hoddle was also a reflection of himself.

But within that laughter, there seemed to be a hint of inexplicable sorrow and sadness...

……

The God of Light died, and the whole world was plunged into darkness. Dark clouds covered the sky, and uneasy lightning roamed among them.

But just then, something suddenly fell from the sky...

"boom!!!"

After the deafening roar, a huge crater appeared on the once flat ground, and inside the crater lay a ragged figure.

"Cough...cough..."

The once incredibly handsome god, who always greeted the gods with a hearty smile, was now coughing up mouthfuls of blood, with small fragments of his liver and lungs mixed in with the blood.

He did not have the robust physique of Thor. He was driven out of Asgard by the enraged gods and thrown from the sky, with several of his ribs broken and deeply embedded in his internal organs. If it weren't for his powerful regenerative abilities as a descendant of the frost giants, he would probably be dead by now.

"Rumble..."

Thunder dragons roamed the sky, and torrential rain fell in an instant.

During the torrential rain, a shallow layer of water quickly formed in the deep pit... blood-red water.

Lying in this filthy pit, the figure did nothing but lie there quietly, letting the rain ruffle his hair, his lifeless pupils empty and lifeless.

After a long while, he stretched out a hand and covered his face. Rain splashed on his face, forming streaks that flowed down, as if he were crying silently.
