Devouring World Dragon

Chapter 137 Limitations

Chapter 137 Limitations

"On Earth, 12.46 billion miles away from this celestial realm, there is an ocean. The vast majority of creatures in that ocean perished under the immense pressure of the great flood. However, not all life survived. The seabed there was originally a scale on my body. Through the gaps between the scales, some creatures hid and barely survived."

Under the gaze of God, for some unknown reason, the incredibly beautiful creature standing on the steps spoke in a cold, deep voice.

That body seemed to block out all the light from the sun and moon, leaving only a deep darkness projected behind it. That profound darkness continuously flowed into the source of the universe—the Crystal Heaven—a place capable of dispelling all darkness. No matter how much light it emitted, it could not completely dispel this darkness.

Its pitch-black pupils, capable of swallowing all light, gazed upon the world beneath its feet, its gaze traversing billions of miles, directly fixed on the place it spoke of…

A small, cave-like underwater world exists, teeming with marine plants. Fish, including some carnivorous species, inhabit this space, forming a small but fragile ecosystem that barely survives. Among these surviving fish, a small, agile school has a tiny, weak fish at its end. While this fish is already considered small among the others, this particular fish is even smaller, often unable to compete with its stronger counterparts for food.

At this moment, the little fish was completely unaware that a great being was watching it... Its fate was about to change, leading to an ending completely different from that of all its ancestors.

"That little fish is foolish and ignorant; its simple mind is too weak to support complex emotions. But... what if suddenly this fish gained near-omniscience and omnipotence? What would it do?"

Accompanied by that cold voice, a light, similar to that of a human, suddenly appeared in the bewildered eyes of the little fish. For the first time, in its originally ignorant and simple mind, it felt that the world was so clear. Then, inexplicably, the first thought appeared in its mind.

"who am I?"

Its mind is filled with boundless wisdom and knowledge: "humanity," "land," "civilization," "biosphere," "aircraft," "mathematics," "science," "nuclear fission," "laser weapons," and so on.

The knowledge and wisdom contained within its mind are beyond the comprehension of all its kind, and indeed of the entire world, not even of angels, for this knowledge has been sealed away by God. And it possesses far more than just this knowledge; it also possesses immense power capable of moving mountains and overturning seas, capable of plucking the sun and moon from the sky.

The little fish, which had been shaking its head, stopped swimming and seemed to be pondering these things with confusion.

"At this moment, this fish possesses incredible power and knowledge. If it so desires, it could even create a world, manipulate the timeline at will, and disregard life, death, and all order. So, what will this fish do? Will it lead the entire species to evolve to a higher level and compete for dominance over the entire world, or will it harbor ambitions and even attempt to challenge the gods?"

As a cold voice rang out, a finger extended and gently slid across an invisible scale, shifting the timeline and instantly transporting the world a hundred years into the future.

A hundred years is a long time for a fish, more than ten generations of fish have been replaced, but for a fish that has eternal life, it is meaningless.

With its wisdom and ability, let alone a hundred years, even just ten years would be enough for it to easily elevate its entire race to the level of the strongest species in history. Even the remnants of the steam-powered snake people in the seabed would not be able to resist its power. Establishing the most powerful civilization since the birth of the world and building fish cities all over the world would be just a thought for it.

but……

The scene a hundred years later was unexpected.

There are no fish cities scattered across the seabed, no flying machines filling the sky. The sea remains the same, the world remains the same, and there have been no major changes compared to a hundred years ago.

The surviving serpent people continued to develop with difficulty, trying to restore the great glory before the Great Flood; while the humans who spread out on the earth again had lost the technology of the ancient Atlantean civilization, and Noah's youngest son had died fifty years ago, so civilization began again from the barbaric age.

Our gaze returned to that original cave...

The cave is now completely different from what it used to be. All the carnivorous fish have died out, replaced by small, agile fish. The little fish from a hundred years ago is also very different now. Its mouth is full of teeth, and its body is enormous, resembling a carnivorous fish. Many female fish surround it, seemingly its mates.

This fish, possessing the power to move mountains and overturn seas, surveyed the cave once, and then... just like its ancestors, continued to eat the most delicious piece of seaweed that it had monopolized.

A hundred years ago, a hundred years later, everything seems unchanged. The only change is that all the small fish in this cave are its offspring. It can monopolize all the female fish, enjoy all the most delicious seaweed, and even use its knowledge to grow teeth and look more ferocious.

Because in its eyes, those carnivorous fish that once preyed on its kind were so powerful that even though it could now easily eliminate them, it was still captivated by their hard teeth and strong bodies.

In the celestial realm, watching the small fish possessing near-divine power, the dark creature's lips curled into a silent laugh, its surging aura growing ever stronger. Behind it, the god remained silent. "A fish is just a fish. Even with divine power, it won't pursue civilization, ambition, or desire. Even if it knows perfectly well what those things are, what meaning does creating civilization and flourishing cities have for a fish? Even if it could obtain them, it wouldn't be interested, because it's just a fish. What it pursues is nothing more than dominating more female fish and occupying more seaweed..."

"Limitations, that's its limitation, but humans have the same limitations. Humans have more desires, but in essence, they are no different from that fish, still just satisfying their own trivial desires. An insect is an insect, even an insect with the power of a god is still just an insect."

That deep voice carried an inexplicable demonic quality, filled with an invisible indifference.

Standing in the infinitely high heavens, looking down at the world beneath one's feet, the revolving sun and moon, endless darkness spreading outwards from its body, its pitch-black pupils seeming to devour the entire world, its chillingly demonic charm and arrogant posture involuntarily bringing a word to mind.

God.

From some unknown point in time, the brilliant light froze, the burning flames froze, even the sound froze in the air, and the whole world fell into stillness.

"...!"

But suddenly, a soft sound came from the Crystal Palace. The sound was faint, but who here was an ordinary person?

The creature with its back to God did not turn around, as if it had already foreseen half of it. It simply looked down at its hands, clenching them, releasing them, clenching them again, and releasing them again, silently experiencing the discomfort of its body after the air froze in this world where time itself seemed to stand still.

"Indeed, God... It seems that you have not only developed human emotions, but you are no longer omnipotent."

In this frozen world, only a deep voice echoed within the crystal palace.

"Although it was only a barely perceptible moment, just a very short moment, as I expected, you were also controlled by me and trapped in the standstill of time."

Although it seemed as if the creature had unwittingly exposed its back to the god, revealing its vitals in the eyes of humans, inexplicably, the creature standing on the steps seemed to have already surpassed the god.

God remained silent and offered no answer.

The dark entity stood with its arms crossed, basking freely in the light, while the darkness projected behind it resembled a menacing monster, swallowing the god into shadow.

The monster glanced at the god behind him and slowly spoke in a deep voice.

“We haven’t fought since our last encounter before creation. Why don’t we fight again, God?”

The voice carried a deep chill and arrogance. Accompanied by that magnetic voice with its bewitching charm, the dark being bathed in light reached out a hand towards God.

The monster extended a challenge to the god.

"You can't win."

The god, shrouded in endless light, remained noncommittal, simply stating calmly that even as the shadows cast from behind the dark entity were gradually engulfing it, it remained unperturbed.

But the next moment, the entire Crystal Palace was plunged into endless darkness.

"Roar!"

With a roar that resounded throughout the heavens, the body that stretched across the universe stretched out wildly. With its casual stretching, it smashed the seven heavens that had been established for tens of thousands of years to pieces. The enormous monster, which had not moved for tens of thousands of years, finally swallowed the entire Crystal Heaven completely.
