Unusual Fate Records

Chapter 311 003. The Arden Conference

Chapter 311. The Arden Conference (Part 003)
"Humanity?"

"There are as many as 12 regional conglomerates behind them, active in dozens of regions around the world, engaged in multiple fields such as biology, chemical industry, and aviation. How can such a behemoth be left untouched right under our noses?"

One member of parliament said in surprise.

"No, that's not the case."

It's not that we're ignoring it; rather, most of the people here have some kind of murky dealings with it, and for some, whether they're sitting here or not is entirely due to the organization.

To protect themselves, most traders choose to turn a blind eye.

Anyone who asks such a question is definitely a political naiveté.

The senator familiar with the situation said, "Although nominally a human organization, there are no clear racial boundaries within it. White Walkers and humans serve the same mysterious leader. In recent years, the organization has risen rapidly and has cooperated with us on some military projects, providing us with various forms of assistance. Furthermore, they sell information on the dark web, provide bodyguards (assassins), and keep us informed of the latest human activities. Otherwise, with current technology, it would be difficult for us to maintain real-time surveillance of humans."

"Hmph, this kind of organization that speaks one way to one person and another way to another only does shady things. If you still dare to cooperate with them, you're just raising a tiger to cause trouble."

Someone scoffed.

“This organization is now a behemoth. If we let it run rampant, it will only lead to greater losses.” A man adjusted his glasses, bowed to the Martial Prime Minister, and said, “Prime Minister Martial, I request…”

"Wait a minute." An old man interrupted the bespectacled man, saying, "Although the organization is highly suspected and may indeed have such methods, I still want to hear my niece Ling explain in detail. In ancient times, war required a just cause; in modern times, investigations also require solid evidence."

Ling propped her cheek up with her slender hand, glanced at the old man with interest, and said readily:

"Okay."

She pressed the speaker light next to her.

There were two modes of speaking at the meeting: discussion and explanation.

When the speaking light comes on, it means someone is about to speak, and others should not interrupt them.

This is a privilege reserved for a select few who sit near the front.

The young woman stood up, stretched leisurely, and said, "Do you all remember the scene where General Cheng was murdered?"

She projected the image onto the screen, pointed at it, and the red dot moved with her finger.

"Although the torrential rain washed away many traces, our investigators still managed to find the weapons that had been left behind at the scene."

The scene shifts, and an ordinary samurai sword appears on the screen.

"There are no fingerprints on it, so the other party has indeed done a lot of work in counter-surveillance. However, even the most meticulous plans can have flaws. Even a training knife can leave plenty of clues. Please examine this knife carefully."

She zoomed in on the picture and saw that the blade was not neat and sharp, but rather had nicks and nicks of varying sizes.

"These notches are not random, but concentrated in the middle and upper sections. Many of you here should be skilled with knives, right? Every mark made by this knife, in terms of force, angle, and the object being chopped, is remarkably uniform."

"On the night Mr. Furukawa was murdered, our people also discovered a mysterious training base. There were a large number of training targets in this base, and the marks on the targets matched the knife marks. So we focused our attention on this base and what we saw were modified White Walkers, unknown experimental modified subjects, and... Hell."

Image turn to page.

The photos depict the horrific aftermath of a gunfight, with bloodstains smeared on the walls and scratches everywhere. Aside from weapons, all the remains were mangled, a paste-like mass of flesh, obscuring faces. Only the black, mushy hair and fragments of helmets allowed to pinpoint the location of heads. No survivors, friend or foe, remained.

What's even more nauseating is that all the blood splattered out, and you could almost feel the pulsating impact even through the screen. Like water balloons bursting one after another before your eyes, the bloodstains stuck to the lens, blurring a corner of the photo.

Under the intense visual impact, some people's faces began to turn pale. Even the bloodthirsty White Walkers found it hard to imagine that such a hellish scene existed in the world.

"This is simply devilish!"

Someone couldn't help but speak up.

Many more people wore solemn expressions.

frenzied.

"The base is called 'Danball.' From the documents that have not yet been destroyed, we can find a lot of experimental logs, which are specifically used to raise the 'Shadow Legion,' which are the zombie-like White Walkers we saw earlier. They have no reason and only obey killing."

Ling began to recount her story.

"Let's go back to this knife."

“Through special instrument analysis, we discovered that this knife possesses an unusual power. This power originates from the wielder, namely the Shadow Legion. From the Shadow Legion, we discovered a faint ‘energy reaction,’ and the resonance effect was quite astonishing, even carrying a special kind of causal law.”

The scene erupted in astonishment.

The law of cause and effect!
This involves a secret concerning the survival of the White Walkers.

All the White Walkers present have a deep understanding of the history of the conflict between the White Walkers and human civilizations, and they are aware of the existence of the Decree.

One of the differences between the White Walkers and humans is their word of command.

From their very beginnings, they were told a cruel truth.

The White Walkers' fates never change throughout their lives; they only grow stronger by consuming human flesh and blood. Humans, on the other hand, although physically weak, have fates that evolve, atrophy, and change with their personal growth, experiences, and state of mind.

In other words, thanks to the favor of the creator goddess, although humans are as insignificant as ants, they possess an infinite path of destiny.

The White Walkers were different; the gods did not restrict their reproduction, but they stifled their future.

They must grit their teeth and restrain their greed, even if their lips are dripping with saliva.

Because once they've consumed all of humanity, they'll destroy the diversity of fate. Their concern isn't with humanity itself, but with the uncertainties inherent in it.

Just as the evolution of life in nature is inseparable from the diversity of species, the evolution of destiny is inseparable from the ever-changing nature of fate.

"Our destiny will not change, but it will become stronger. In the process of devouring flesh and blood, the energy of causality can also activate our own destiny to a large extent, and generate a certain causal judgment."

"Do these prisoners really have the ability to apply the law of causality?" a man in a suit asked impatiently.

Although his behavior was somewhat out of line, no one laughed at him. Those present were more eager to know the answer than he was to do so.

"Unfortunately, they've all exploded into a bloody mess." Ling smiled helplessly.

“Everyone here knows how fatally tempting the power of causality is to the White Walkers. It’s extremely difficult for any White Walker not to possess this power of causality, let alone mass-produce it.” She brought the topic back to the analysis and continued.

“Therefore, it can be inferred that the mastermind behind this is not entirely the White Walkers.” A glint flashed in Ling’s eyes. “At least our old adversaries are definitely involved in the mass production of the Destiny Words.”

A Fate Chaser?!

Everyone had their own guesses.
