Chapter 178.009. Escape

Chapter 178.009. Escape

With a little modification, the rope could be used as a barely usable soft weapon.

She made sure to stay away from the vicinity, just as the thugs were getting entangled in a fight with them, and she managed to walk away.

However, the other side has also called for reinforcements, and others are probably on their way.

"What on earth is going on today!" she said, slightly annoyed. She had clearly escaped, but what awaited her was a nightmarish pursuit.

There seemed to be two or three people ahead, with stern faces and tall, imposing figures; they were probably not good people.

She stopped walking, pressed herself against the wall, and observed carefully.

They seemed to be heading towards the park, since it was quite noisy there.

She looked away, only to find another group of people on the other side, dressed in gray suits and sunglasses, with their hands in their pockets; they didn't seem like respectable people either.

She instinctively shrank further into the stairwell, crouching down to further conceal herself.

"There are just too many people," she thought sadly.

"Hey, wanna go for drinks later? Bar or quiet one? Need any company? I met some nice girls last night, wanna come?"

Qing Yise's heart skipped a beat when he heard the voice coming from the other side.

The guy who talks like a machine gun and is all talk must be Zhang Rang with the Thunder Legs. The other Fate Controllers have also arrived.

Zhang Rang's voice continued: "Qingqing, can't you talk to me for a second? All I did was complain about your lipstick color today, and you haven't spoken to me all day. Talk to me, talk to me, talk to me!"

Three black lines flashed across Qing Yise's forehead. She didn't know if it was too late to inform them now. She had important information on her, but she didn't dare to get too close, after all, her identity was special now.

I don't know how to face my friends.

“There are many White Walkers around.”

The speaker was Du Biao, a bodyguard with extensive criminal investigation experience, and a long-time friend of Flying Constable Ah Song, with whom he had worked for over ten years.

When he was there, the taciturn Ah Song was also there.

"Four people? What are they doing out here?" Qing Yise asked in surprise.

She wanted to follow them from a distance, at least to see her companions and feel more at ease.

"Wow, so many White Walkers are here to capture Ase? This little girl is really charming." Whether Zhang Rang's legs are powerful or not is unknown, but his mouth is certainly a formidable weapon.

Leaving aside the repulsive title, they seemed to know her situation. Qing Yise remembered that Chu Binlin had left, but she hadn't had a chance to go back and report. She'd probably already been framed. Besides, her current identity as a Otherworlder only confirmed her status as a traitor…

She looked dejected and swallowed back the thought of rushing up to acknowledge him.

Once the people in front had gone far away, Qing Yise withdrew.

Suddenly, someone patted her on the shoulder.

Qing Yise was surprised and was about to shout when she noticed that the other person was smiling and making a shushing gesture at her.

It was a young man in the evening.

"It's me. Are you in trouble?"

Qing Yise's eyes were slightly red, but her heart calmed down. She put her arm around his shoulder and sobbed silently.

"What happened?" The young man was clearly caught off guard by the hug.

"I have nowhere else to go."

"I see." The young man seemed to think for a moment, then separated from the girl, took her arm, and said, "If you don't mind, come to my place."

A voice inside Qing Yise was resisting; she didn't want to trouble the young man anymore, but her body unconsciously drooped her head, and she mumbled an "okay."

Just as the young man was about to comfort her, he caught a glimpse of a group of people walking straight towards them out of the corner of his eye.

"Miss Qing."

"Ok?"

"Hurry up," the young man said, grabbing her hand and pulling her into the alleyways behind them.

Qing Yise noticed a figure leading the way ahead, and inexplicably felt motivated to run.

The other party had clearly noticed that Jin Ziyue and Qing Yise were trying to escape. They pulled out a pistol from their pocket and quickened their pace: "Stop!"

Without turning his head, the young man kicked the bamboo pole, hooking the clothes on it and causing them to fall down, blocking the view of two or three men in suits.

Under the moonlight, the man held the woman's hand and ran frantically down the alley.

The school uniform skirt fluttered in the wind, just like her uniformly blue hair.

They ran into the underground passage, which connected all directions, like a spider web at a crossroads, with each of the eight directions representing one of the eight exits.

The underground passage was damp and cold, and the recent rain had not completely dried it. The small advertisements on the walls were wet and blurred by the rain, and only the sound of footsteps echoed when you ran.

"Chase them! They're inside!"

The group seemed determined not to give up, and continued their pursuit with lighting equipment.

However, Jin Ziyue had been frequenting this area for many years. After many twists and turns, he emerged from a secluded intersection and quickly turned around to disappear into a new cluster of buildings.

When the other party emerged from the underground passage, looking to the left, there was a construction site that had been abandoned and was covered with barbed wire; to the right, there was a bustling traffic; in front was a high pedestrian overpass; and behind was an abandoned factory overgrown with weeds, its rusty iron gate locked and silent, with no signs of the grass being trampled.

The assembled men in suits chased after them toward the road and the overpass.

Once everyone had disappeared from sight, Jin Ziyue breathed a sigh of relief. He looked at Qing Yise, who was also looking at him, and they smiled at each other.

"so close."

"They did not notice that the small door in the factory wall was hidden in the haystack."

"Shall we go?" Qing Yise asked, panting, but no longer so nervous.

"Wait a minute, there's a small path at the back gate of the factory, let's go in and talk." With that, he crouched down and slipped inside.

"Hmm." Qing Yise felt an inexplicable trust in the young man's words.

Inside the abandoned factory, Jin Ziyue carefully opened the door, and smoke and cobwebs scattered out, making him cough incessantly.

Once the smoke and dust had mostly cleared, Jin Ziyue said, "You can come in now."

The phone's light illuminated the room, casting a yellowish glow on the uniformly blue faces.

They went around to the back door, then crawled into a new underground bridge, and groped their way back to the apartment where they had first met along the underground streets.

"Stay here tonight," Jin Ziyue said with a smile.

Night fell, mosquito coils were lit, and the two sat together, leaning against the wall.

"Aren't you going to rest?"

Qing Yise shook her head: "I'm not a good sleeper, I can't sleep in unfamiliar places." She looked somewhat melancholy as she gazed at the scenery outside.

"Just two weeks ago, I was at home with my parents. I never imagined that I would end up in this situation."

"What happened to your family?"

"No, it's just that I've run into some trouble, and now... I can't go back."

Qingyi said dejectedly.

"Are they the group that were chasing you?"

"Pretty much." Qing Yise pulled her legs back, looking delicate under the light. "Overnight, all my ideals, goals, and life plans have become meaningless."

The young man chuckled, "How could it be meaningless? As long as a person is alive, they will keep moving."

“Living…” Qing Yise tilted her head back, revealing her slender neck, and stared blankly at the ceiling. “I don’t even know if I count as living.”

"Of course it counts."

The young man suddenly leaned in, his face very close, and said, "Can you hear your own heartbeat? It keeps reminding you that you should live for the sake of your heart."

Qing Yise stared at him blankly, vaguely sensing the sound of her heart pounding wildly.
