Chapter 127, Volume 3, Summary of Leave Request

Chapter 127, Volume 3 Summary: Leave of Absence

call.

I've finally finished writing.

After writing this volume, all I can think about is bowing my head in apology.

The initial intention behind writing the third volume was that many readers do not understand the world view and are probably not very accepting of the White Walkers as a race. It is not suitable for Old Jin to be constantly immersed in the White Walkers, so after thinking about it, he decided to create dynamic characters.

From his perspective, we see a world of White Walkers that is not inherently abhorrent, but one filled with humanity, deceit, and treachery. When racial ideologies and conflicts arise, the merciful and the brutal always meet in a tragic and poignant way.

So, with that in mind, I messed up my writing.

I feel really guilty about this.

Because something was amiss midway through the story, the protagonist's appearance rate was far lower than that of the characters in the side stories. This stretch of over 100,000 words did indeed deter many readers.

I'm starting to realize why Sanzha's "Selling Crime" flopped so easily when he used a POV perspective.

If the POV perspective is well-written, that's fine, but if it's just so-so, readers will have to spend time getting to like a character again, which might not be so easy for them to accept.

Knowing that I don't have that much ability, I naturally belong to the latter category.

Originally, the series focused on plot twists and turns, even planting many clues in the third volume, preparing for a reversal at any moment. However, it seems that the series is constantly increasing the screen time of supporting characters, leaving the main characters further and further behind. Therefore, the series had no choice but to cut a lot of plot and speed up the completion of this volume.

So it just looks awkward and out of place.

I won't force plot twists anymore; I'll just write naturally.

Volume 3 has been stuck in my favorites list for a long time. Every time I see the number of favorites increase by one or two, it then drops back down. I can only smile wryly.

Writing the third volume in this way was truly a reckless and impulsive decision.

I finally managed to write a slightly longer storyline. If each volume is 50,000 words, the third volume would be two volumes long. But the result was a complete deviation from the original plot and a collapse.

Volume 3 also taught me a lot, making me realize the importance of the protagonist. When you don't yet have the ability to construct the entire world, the best choice is to slowly expand along the protagonist's perspective.

Fortunately, it wasn't a complete loss.

If the audience can accept the "White Walkers" concept to some extent and not see them as a rampant barbaric race, then it can be considered a success.

Besides, I think I... prefer everyday life to fighting...

Eloquent talk may not be impressive, but it's certainly entertaining.

As for the Seven Deadly Sins, they are actually characters I really like. Compared to characters like Yuudou, who seem likable but are actually raised by a stepfather, the Seven Deadly Sins characters are slightly more satisfying to me.

It was only due to length constraints that I had to end it hastily, which was my own fault for not handling it properly.

I bowed in apology.

The title of the volume had to be changed, and the part that was meant to be alluded to had no chance to be shown.

Left with no other choice, I had to change the original "Foolish Joy Leads to Death" to "One Hundred and Six Yang Nine".

After this volume, I won't be doing anything fancy anymore. Although I've said before that I'd try to write about ensemble casts as much as possible, I have to admit that this is a very difficult challenge.

The next volume should be written from a human perspective. After getting a general understanding of the White Walkers, we can then learn about humans.

A while ago, some readers said that it was too depressing to read and they didn't know where the strong humans were. This volume will try to answer everyone's questions.

only……

Before that, let's move on to the second main topic.

I still need to take a week off.

Similar to the reason for my leave last time, the deadline for submitting my graduation project is this week.

This week is crucial for my graduation.

Let me report on the progress of my last leave of absence. I successfully completed my 20,000-word graduation project, but the plagiarism rate was over 50%, meaning I have to rewrite 10,000 words. In addition, my professor said my research direction was incorrect, so I need to make major revisions.

My research project is experimental, and this year, due to the pandemic, I haven't even done any experiments, let alone collected any data, yet they still asked me to write it.

Ah.

The conclusion of this graduation project is still in the wrong direction.

In a fit of rage, I stockpiled over 1 words of drafts during the May Day holiday. It's thanks to these drafts that I've managed to survive until now.

But now I have to rush to finish my graduation project. I even had to take time off from work for it.

There's no way to organize the fourth volume right now; I'm afraid of getting distracted and pleasing neither side.

Starting this book at an age when I'm already overwhelmed with my own problems makes me feel terrible for my work and for those who have persevered in reading it.

I'm so sorry.

So that's all for this week for now.

After submitting my graduation project on the 24th, I still have to prepare for the defense. I'll try to resume updates as soon as possible.

I still remember my promise to publish the book after 35 words, and I will try my best to bring you double updates.

I will continue to work hard for this.

Everything I do ultimately aims to enable me to write novels better and happier; this is the true meaning of my life.

I salute you all.

Thank you all for your kindness; I dare not ask for your continued support.

On the 25th, everything will be clear.
