Chapter 323 Anfeng Hotel

Chapter 323 Anfeng Hotel (Part 2)

The banging on the door continued, as loud as a dozen people carrying logs to attack a city.

I looked at the mother and child and asked An Xin, "You've been hiding here?"

"Yes, Uncle said that as long as you come, we won't be in any trouble if we don't go inside!"

"Alright, you can stay here then. Give me the flashlight!"

I dared not delay any longer, so I snatched the flashlight from Anxin's hand and ran upstairs as soon as I entered the house.

No matter how sturdy the gate is, it won't hold for long. No matter what comes in, we have to grab our weapons first.

When I ran up to the second floor, I felt something was wrong.

When we got to the third floor, we were completely dumbfounded.

Under the electric light, the corridor seemed to have no end at either end; it was just a corridor with no doors. The original guest rooms had all disappeared!

"Brother Yan! Little Lu! Master!"

I called out several times, but no one answered.

Gritting his teeth, he ran quickly to one side, and the dark corridor seemed to stretch on forever.

Liang Kaiyuan asked, "What's going on? Are we trapped in a maze?"

"Definitely not!" I said with certainty.

Lu Xin said, "The 'ghost wall' is just an illusion. Just now, Sanqi was running along the wall with a flashlight. Did you hear the sound of it hitting the wooden door?"

Liang Kaiyuan asked, "So what do we do now?"

"I have to go back to the first floor!" I was already running back.

Back at the stairwell, I was filled with extreme astonishment and doubt.

I did use the handle of a flashlight to wipe the wall just now, partly to identify the door by sound, and partly to mark it to avoid getting lost.

However, when I ran back, the scratches on the wall had disappeared!

Back on the first floor, I grabbed a kitchen knife from the kitchen.

Upon entering the hall, the two paper figures remained unchanged.

I shone my flashlight into the coffin and saw the body lying there quietly, covered with a mourning blanket, as if it had never been moved.

What was the meaning of the dead body I saw sitting up earlier?

The banging on the door continued for a while, then suddenly stopped.

Listening to the pattering rain outside, I had a bad feeling that something terrible was about to happen.

Sure enough, not long after, a rustling sound came from the doorway.

Upon closer inspection, a flat, disc-shaped object had squeezed through the crack in the door.

Before I could even see what it was, it had already entered the house and rapidly expanded, transforming in the blink of an eye into an ancient general over two meters tall, clad in black armor, who brandished a cleaver and slashed directly at me.

I dared not take the blow head-on, so I dodged the blade to the side, moved closer to the black-armored general, and slashed horizontally with my cleaver.

With a "rip," I actually cleaved the black-armored general in two at the waist.

I didn't expect that a successful strike would have such an effect. Just as I was wondering how this thing could be so strong on the outside but weak on the inside, I felt a tingling sensation in my right hand holding the knife.

Looking down, I was terrified. My right hand was covered in large black ants.

These black ants are nearly one centimeter long each, and there are at least several hundred of them. They are piled up together in a dark mass, looking like a layer of black scales on the back of your hand!
I was so startled that I jerked my hand and dropped the cleaver on the ground with a clatter.

I hurriedly swatted away the ants, only to find that the black-armored general I had cut in half had each of its two halves transformed into a black-armored man over a meter tall!
"Use fire!" Liang Kaiyuan reminded me.

I dared not approach these strange black-armored men again. Upon hearing this, I quickly retreated to the altar, picked up a candle, and stabbed it at one of the approaching black-armored men.

The flames contracted briefly, then surged again.

The man in black armor was instantly engulfed in flames. Smelling a sour, acrid odor, I finally understood.

The black-armored man was actually just a piece of paper inside, which is why he was able to slip through the crack in the door. That's also why I was able to cut him in two with a single stroke.

The paper figure was covered with several layers of large black ants, making it look like a human.

I followed suit and burned another black-armored man, which finally brought some temporary peace.

Liang Kaiyuan, still shaken, asked, "Where did all these big ants come from?"

I said, "The ants aren't rare."

Compared to the man-eating water spiders I saw last time, these large ants aren't so scary. But what's strange is how the ants can form a human shape and launch an attack in human form?

My intuition tells me that the problem lies in the piece of paper the ants were attached to, but the paper has been burned to ashes, so it's hard to find an answer right now.

"what!"

A scream suddenly came from the backyard.

I rushed out the back door and saw Anxin jumping up and down, kicking something into the rain.

"What's wrong? What's that?"

"A rat! There's a rat!" An Xin's face turned ashen, and she trembled uncontrollably.

"It's just a mouse, why are you making such a fuss?"

As I spoke, I suddenly felt a strange sense of oppression, as if I were being stared at by many eyes, making me feel extremely uncomfortable.

Sensing something was wrong, I shone my flashlight toward the back wall.

It was raining heavily at that moment, and through the rain, you could vaguely see a layer of dark stuff piled up on the back wall.

With a sharp "squeak," my nerves jumped. "Holy crap!"

The squeak that pierced through the rain was like a signal; before the sound had even faded, more than a dozen rats had already rushed down the courtyard wall and scurried under the eaves.

An Xin, being a girl, was completely terrified when she saw so many disgusting rats.

I grabbed a broom from the side and stood in front of her, her mother, and her brother, waving it to scare away the rats.

Fortunately, the rats don't attack people; they all scurried away to one side whenever the broom was swept.

However, the number of rats kept increasing, reaching hundreds if not thousands, and they scurried around the damp yard, making people feel disgusted and terrified.

Liang Kaiyuan suddenly shouted, "Corpse!"

I was startled. The rats, though driven away, did not evacuate; instead, most of them ran into the house through the open back door.

Rats dare not approach living people, but they are not afraid of corpses!

I grabbed a plastic sheet and covered the sleeping mother and child with it, then grabbed a broom and rushed back into the mourning hall. There, I saw several rats already crawling up to the edge of the coffin.

I hurriedly swept the rats off, looked around, then went over and carried the upright coffin lid over my shoulder. With gritted teeth and the strength of both arms, I forced the coffin lid onto the coffin.

I breathed a slight sigh of relief after the coffin lid was pushed up.

An Xin had obviously also thought that rats would gnaw on the corpse, and she ran in just as I was closing the coffin lid.

She asked worriedly, "Could the rats have already gotten into the coffin?"

"Let's think about how to get rid of these rats!"

I knew that most of the rats had already gotten into the coffin, but if I didn't close the lid, more would only get in if I tried to drive them away by myself. Now I could only hope that the few rats that did manage to desecrate the corpse would be a little less.

I said to Anxin, "Why don't you go to the back and watch over your mother and brother?"

After An Xin hummed in response, she suddenly widened her eyes and looked behind me with a look of horror.

I was startled and turned around abruptly. To my surprise, a huge weasel was squatting on top of the coffin!
