Chapter 119 Rare Jade
Chapter 119 Rare Jade
What I saw was nothing terrible, just a dirty plastic medicine bottle and a crumpled piece of cardboard.
I must have stepped on the medicine bottle to fall, and that piece of cardboard, which was cone-shaped with the pointed end facing up, was less than a foot in front of me.
Even if I fall and get stuck on the paper, it won't cause serious damage.
I was shocked because I realized that if it hadn't been a piece of cardboard but a shard of glass, and it had been just a foot away, I might have been pierced through the throat!
The key point is that I'm certain neither of these two things belong to this house.
I gasped, barely managing to get up.
Suddenly, I heard a "meow".
The next second, in the dim light of the phone screen, a small dark figure walked in through the back door.
It was that old cat named Stinky Egg!
“I think we need to have a serious talk, but… um… before that, I need to get my injuries treated.”
Yes, I'm talking to a cat.
However, I don't find it absurd.
Because I've come to believe that I'm in this state because of that old cat.
It's warning me.
Just like what it did to Jiang Banxia.
The sound of hurried footsteps came from the backyard.
"Mistress! What's wrong with you?"
Century Egg ran in.
I turned on the light, and she looked me up and down nervously, then suddenly raised her eyebrows: "You went downstairs in the dark and fell, didn't you?"
"Why are you here?" I turned on the light.
"You climbed over the wall to get in!" Pidan glared at me fiercely when he saw that I was unharmed. "You still have the nerve to say that? You called me in the middle of the night, woke me up, and then didn't say anything. You just rambled on and on about how it's all over. I knew something was wrong with you."
I hesitated for a moment, then finally said helplessly, "Go back and change your clothes, then come with me to the hospital."
Where did you hurt yourself?
"His right hand is probably fractured."
I raised my right hand and froze again.
The silver chain I always wore on this hand broke.
I felt even more uneasy, so I looked down, found the chain, and casually stuffed it into my pocket.
"Why are you changing your clothes? Give me your coat and let's go!"
Pidan grabbed his coat and was about to leave when I remembered something. After a moment's hesitation, I went over and picked up the cat with one hand.
Pidan frowned: "Why are you taking a cat to the hospital? Where did this cat come from?"
“This is a pet that a customer left at the store. I thought it would be easier to take it with me.”
Before this, I never thought cats were scary, but this stinky guy is like a well-trained killer.
I brought it home because of Jiang Banxia's reminder.
I don't know how it knew about and used preserved eggs. To avoid further trouble, it's best to keep it with you.
Pidan called Monkey. After they met, Monkey looked at my hand and said, "The edge of your metacarpal bone is fractured. Go to the Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital."
Once we got in the car, the monkey asked me why I brought the cat along.
I didn't answer him immediately, but instead looked down at the cat in my arms and said:
"Senior Stinky Egg, I now know how powerful you are. You can't speak, but I guess you didn't really want to harm me, but rather wanted to convey some information to me. You've achieved your goal, but I need to heal my injuries first before I can help you."
The old cat kept looking up at me until I finished speaking. Then, slowly, it tugged at the front of my clothes, climbed onto my shoulder, squatted on it, turned its head to look out the window, and did nothing else.
"Are you out of your mind? What are you babbling nonsense to a cat about?"
The monkey glanced at me twice in the rearview mirror. Seeing that Egg was also looking at me strangely, I took a deep breath. "Do you believe cats can make phone calls?"
The monkey scoffed, "I believe it, but it would have to be a circus cat."
I could only manage a dry laugh: "Let's talk about this later. In any case, you'd better keep your distance from that stinky egg for now."
Upon arriving at the hospital, after X-rays and a cast were applied, it was already four in the morning.
On the way back, I told Pidan that it wasn't me who called her, but Choudan who called me using her phone.
The monkey gave a fake laugh twice: "That joke is absolutely hilarious!"
Pidan looked at the old cat that had climbed back onto my shoulder and said, "I believe you are telling the truth."
"Hey you two, other couples look like married couples, but you two look like a crazy couple?" the monkey couldn't help but complain. "If cats could really make phone calls, wouldn't they be sentient beings?"
"You were there at the bald guy's house that time, and you had that experience. What else do you think is impossible?"
Pidan said, then looked at the old cat again: "Just now I was only worried about Xiaosan, but when I got back to the car, I had a really strange feeling. I just felt that this cat..."
She paused, looked at me, and pointed to her neck: "I can't describe the feeling, but it's just a little weak and uneasy here."
"Where's the weakness? Let me see?"
I whispered something and reached out to pull at her collar.
"Fuck off!"
"do not move!"
I was quick enough to see what I originally wanted to see.
However, their attention was no longer on it.
I didn't do anything out of line. I grabbed the red string around her neck and pulled out half of the jade pendant with the yin-yang symbol.
"Why did it change color?" Pidan asked in surprise.
"Yes, why did it change color..." I murmured.
Previously, the yin-yang symbol was split in two, and the third grandmother gave the black half to the preserved egg.
However, upon closer inspection, the blackfish now appears to be glowing red.
Although the light was faint, it was more noticeable because it was dark inside the car.
I asked Pidan, "Did Third Grandma tell you that this jade can emit light?"
"No, she just told me to wear this on my body and never take it off."
Looking at the jade pendant that had changed so strangely, I suddenly had an idea. I slowly turned to the side, gesturing for Pidan to come closer.
I held the black fish jade pendant in my hand, and as the preserved egg approached, I slowly brought the pendant closer to the old cat on my shoulder.
"The red light is getting stronger!" Pidan exclaimed in surprise. "It's because of this cat!"
"Meow..."
The old cat, which had been facing out of the car window, suddenly turned around and let out a shrill scream.
"Stop the car!" Pidan shouted.
The monkey was already a bit distracted, and when it heard her shout, it almost drove the van into a tree.
"What's going on?" the monkey asked, pulling the handbrake and turning around.
Pidan seemed a little shaken, his chest heaving for a while before he said, "It's a cat, it wants us to stop the car!"
The monkey looked at the jade pendant, then at the old cat who had already stood up from my shoulder, and also showed a surprised expression, whispering:
"Could this cat really be sentient?"
I unconsciously lowered my voice and asked Pidan, "Can you sense what it's thinking?"
Pidan nodded, then shook his head. "I don't know, I can't quite put my finger on it. It's just... when I look into its eyes, I feel like it wants us to stop the car."
