Chapter 743 Tianhui

Chapter 743 Tianhui
After hearing Dusuan's words, Thales fell silent.

"Regarding this matter, I consulted with General Manager Myrahovic: You and Jann do not owe each other money, but you owe other people—a lot of people—money."

Thales raised his head, his eyes serious:
"Relying on the foundation of one city, exploiting the finances of two cities, bolstering the credit of ten cities, absorbing funds from twenty cities, and conducting business across hundreds of cities, yet the actual capital available for working capital and debt repayment is still only the size of one city..."

The light in Dusuan's eyes gradually narrowed.

"By leveraging ever-expanding debt and people's confidence in your rule, you extend the debt's maturity date, aiming to never repay the money and still make money forever..."

Thales squinted:
"Something bad is bound to happen sooner or later."

Dusuan remained silent for a while.

But he quickly raised his head, his confidence unchanged.

“First, ordinary people will run into trouble,” Taral from Congzhong City chuckled, “because they will have bad luck, encounter accidents, fail in their investments, suffer business losses, and go bankrupt.”

Thales' heart sank.

“But we, whether it’s you, me, or Jann, we will not—because we are the lords of the city, the nobles,” Dusuan’s eyes gleamed, “we, or our descendants, will rule forever, eternally, forever.”

"you sure?"

Thales remained expressionless.

"It should be known that even empires are not eternal."

"It's just a metaphor!"

Dusuan waved his hand dismissively:
"Secondly, we have always been very careful."

Thales gave a sarcastic smile:
"Be careful, be careful I find out about this?"

"Who made your kingdom's secret science so powerful?"

At this point, Dusuan raised his eyes, a half-smile playing on his lips:

"Or did you actually use torture to force Jann to submit, making him so obedient that he even told you the name of his lover?"

Thales' expression shifted:
"Jane has a lover?"

“Who knows,” Dusuan shrugged. “Third, as long as these two cities are still operating and people are still living there, someone will always pay back the money.”

Thales sneered.

“And that will definitely not be you or Jann,” the prince said in a deep voice, “not the powerful and wealthy who casually sign and stamp their names.”

“On the bright side, it certainly won’t be Your Highness,” Dusuan gestured to Thales, “You will always be the one who makes money, and you will never be the one who pays back money.”

Thales remained silent for a long time.

Therefore, this was the "Lisheng Tarar" within the Hambul dynasty, praised by everyone for his effective governance.

Benefit life.

Thales couldn't help but sneer inwardly.

Don't forget, Thales—just then, a voice inside him quietly reminded him:

Don't forget the purpose of your trip.

do not forget.

Thales took a deep breath and returned to reality.

That's right.

He still has things to do.

The most urgent task is to turn the tide in Emerald City.

Therefore, he must go all out and use all his wisdom to find the weakness of the person in front of him.

Solve the enormous debt that could destroy Emerald City.

“You’re right, Lisheng Tarar. As long as the equal sign in the equation isn’t drawn, you can rest easy.”

The prince looked at Dusuan seriously:

"But now Jenn has drawn the equation first: he is using the debt he owes you to press for repayment, creating a financial crisis, trying to force me out of the game—you are the executor."

Dusuan's smile faded somewhat:
"uh-huh."

Thales took a deep breath, preparing to restart this difficult battle:

"So I hope you can..."

"I promise."

“I understand your reasons for not agreeing, and I know it’s a bit unreasonable, but please—what?”

Thales was on high alert, talking to himself, but then he suddenly realized what was happening and looked up in surprise:
"What did you say?"

Before him sat a relaxed man from the city of Tarar, Dusuan Lisheng Guodalan, with a smile on his face.

"I said, I agree."

He leaned forward and said earnestly:
"Extension, interest-free, restructuring, leveraging the size of the major creditors to persuade countless small and medium-sized creditors not to rush into withdrawals... I'll help you with everything that can help you overcome the financial crisis and stay in Emerald City."

Now it was Thales' turn to be completely stunned.

what?
He... just agreed like that?
So simple?
No other conditions?
All those arguments and bargaining chips I had prepared earlier, referencing the Kalabyan and Lasia families…

"Why, why?"

"Tales asked, looking rather foolish."

“Oh, I don’t owe Emerald—well, I owe you money now,” Dusuan waved his hand dismissively, as if he were talking about a meal rather than a million-dollar debt. “The creditor is the boss, so you won’t turn around and tell me that ‘paying back debts is a matter of course.’”

"Oh, debts must be repaid, God..."

"Furthermore!"

Dusuan reached out in time to stop Thales from speaking.

“As you said, one city is used to manage two cities, two cities are used to manage ten cities, and ten cities are used to manage twenty cities. Sooner or later, something bad will happen,” Lisheng Taral’s expression became serious at this moment. “And this is very likely to start with the collapse of one of the money bags.”

He looked at Thales seriously, his eyes now filled with caution and vigilance, the previous ease and humor gone.

This slightly changed Thales's opinion.

Dusuan sighed:
"It's just a pity for Jenn—I wonder if her sister still needs refugee services?"

Upon hearing this name, Thales' eyes darted around, and his doubts shifted in another direction:
"You agreed so easily—I thought you and Jenn were close friends, like a loving couple?"

Dusuan's eyes lit up:
"of course."

Dusuan's tone suddenly changed.

"But you know, even long-term couples, let alone close friends, will have their relationship tested."

The city lord of Congzhong City suddenly turned his gaze, his aggressive stare fixed on Thales:

"Especially when there are too many temptations outside."

Thales felt extremely uncomfortable under his gaze and quickly coughed:

"But you know, two people don't necessarily have to be in love and become husband and wife..."

“Well said,” Dusuan clapped his hands, ignoring Thales’s intentions, and continued, “So, since you’ve even got Jann on your side…”

His expression was serious:
"Then why should I continue to be stubborn, harming others without benefiting myself, and unjustly becoming a bad person?"

In that instant, Thales looked into the other person's eyes and understood something.

"I understand, that's why you agreed to my request."

Dusuan smiled.

"Yes, although he's imprisoned and out of contact, I'm certain now: you really got Jann under control."

Lisheng Taral looked into Thales' eyes and said with certainty:

“These secrets—especially those concerning money—can only be told to you by him personally.”

Thales sighed.

Ok.

Well, I didn't expect to keep it from him for long anyway.

For some reason, even though he had persuaded Dusuan and—hopefully—solved the problem of the huge debt, Thales felt only limited joy at this moment.

At least……

Will Emerald City be able to weather this storm?
“Dusuan, you’re so easy to talk to, and you even went to great lengths to help your brother—maybe your husband from a past life—” Thales frowned. “Will your Khadil Asaf allow this?”

Dusuan's eyes lit up, and he was overjoyed:

"Our Cadillacs are broad-minded."

Thales frowned.

“Then, will the ‘White Priest,’ who lives a secluded life in the Temple of the Dawn,” Thales’ tone changed, “or his Quintana, allow it?”

White Priest.

Upon hearing this name, Dusuan's expression changed slightly.

Seeing the other person's reaction, Thales knew he had asked the right question.

"Or to put it another way: Would 'Tianhui' Taral allow it?"

To Thales' surprise, as soon as he finished speaking, Dusuan looked up abruptly, his reaction even greater than when he had just heard about the White Priest!

“Be careful, Diebatals,” Lishengtal said dangerously at this moment, “do not make any rash comments about the affairs of distant foreign lands.”

He emphasized:

"Especially concerning that one."

Thales' eyelids twitched:
"Who?"

"Every single one!"

Dusuan suddenly became cold and distant, no longer friendly.

This piqued Thales' interest.

He recalled the diplomatic assignments he had done in Gilbert's class.

“Since returning from the North, I’ve heard many rumors about the ‘Heavenly Wisdom Tarar’ of the Hambur Dynasty,” Thales said, carefully observing the other man. “It is said that since the War of the Succession, the position of Grand Chancellor of the Hambur Dynasty has been vacant for many years because your Qadil Asaf was unwilling to compromise and refused to appoint someone else as prime minister?”

Dusuan remained silent for a long time.

“It’s just a rumor,” he said softly. “Take it with a grain of salt.”

Dusuan's tone was normal.

But Thales understood something.

Thales was silent for a few seconds, then raised his gaze with a solemn expression:

"Is he... really that scary?"

he.

The next second, Dusuan's eyes immediately swept towards Thales!

Tension and vigilance, a murderous aura.

Thales was startled and quickly raised his hand:

"Okay, never mind!"

Dusuan didn't speak, but just stared intently at Thales's desk.

Just as the atmosphere became slightly awkward and Thales was wondering what to say to end the farewell, Lisheng Taral spoke solemnly.

“My father-in-law was the head of the Guodalan family. When he was young, his eldest son, the heir—my brother-in-law—was skinned alive by the Azad family.”

They were skinned and displayed to the public.

Thales was taken aback.

You Hambur people...

To be precise, it was Nobleman Hamboldt…

"In retaliation, the Guodalan family captured and executed the younger brother of the head of the Azad family, dismembering him with a slow knife."

Thales' eyelids twitched again.

I've heard of a swift knife cutting through hemp, and I've heard of dismemberment by a flurry of blows, but a slow knife...

You Hambur people...

Until Dusuan changed the subject:
“However, just two months ago, I was chatting and laughing with the heir of the House of the Sword, and we agreed to be each other’s son’s supervisors. My father-in-law also felt an instant connection with old Azad and insisted on marrying his beloved youngest daughter to him.”

They chatted and laughed...

I wish we had met sooner...

Thales took a few seconds to clarify the logic behind this, and couldn't help but frown:
"what?"

Dusuan laughed, but it was a chilling laugh.

"In fact, it wasn't just Guodalan and Azad; throughout centuries of history, the seven noble families who controlled the dynastic structure and divided the monarchical power harbored deep-seated hatred and resentment towards each other." He gazed into the misty distance:

“But now, whether it’s the blood feud between Godaran and Azad, the creeds of Tubar and Meriye, the interests of Uhlaya and Takhambu, or the rigid and stubborn Nifat, the seven clans have put aside their past grievances and become united as one, as close as brothers.”

Put aside grudges and hatred.

As close as brothers?

Thales was puzzled:
"why?"

Dusuan looked at him with a cold smile:
"Why did you say?"

He spoke slowly, word by word, with a rather aggressive air about him:
"Tell me, Diebaters, why should we put aside this irreconcilable, irreconcilable hatred and stand together again?"

Thales was stunned by the other person's extremely solemn expression.

"Because of...him?"

Thales asked tentatively.

Dusuan stared at him for a long time, as if he was determined to find something out about Thales.

"Yes, it was him. Because of him, because of his humble origins, he was fortunate enough to be promoted and appointed by Kadil, and that's how he became an ordinary citizen today..."

Lisheng Taral spoke softly:
"The seven great families of the Hampur court... even the Grand Mumin shook his head in resignation, certain that they would fight each other to the death until the 'Supreme Beginning,' all because of him..."

"Let go of grudges and become one."

Looking at the other person's expression, Thales felt a chill run down his spine.

Dusuan turned his head, his gaze distant.
"Tell me, how terrifying is Tianhui Taral?"

Dusuan's expression was calm, and his tone was ordinary.

But at that moment, Thales read in his words an unspeakable fear and apprehension in the words of this seemingly shrewd and confident nobleman, Hamboldt.

The study became quiet.

Thales took a deep breath and tried to lighten the mood.

"As far as I know, you, Lisheng Taral, also came from an ordinary background. It was only after you had done a good job in governing and married a noblewoman that you were accepted into the family of Guodalan, one of the seven great clans."

Dusuan laughed, his tone disdainful.

"Believe me, compared to 'Tianhui', my skills are as insignificant as dust."

Tianhui...

Thales chewed on the name of Xi.

"So scary?"

Dusuan sneered and shook his head:
"Believe me, he is not simply someone who was born precocious, as Xi Ming suggests."

"From the moment he rose to prominence, whether it was protecting himself, accumulating wealth, being promoted, gaining official rank, wielding power, or now serving as an assistant to the emperor and a figurehead of the dynasty, Tianhui has experienced jealousy, scheming, and life-or-death crises, yet he has handled each move appropriately and acted with uncanny foresight, never making a single wrong step."

"Many of the decisions that seemed unwise and absurd at the time later yielded huge benefits and returns, as if he had foreseen the future and made a move in advance to reap the rewards."

"In just a few decades, Tianhui Taral has made Kadil completely obedient to him. No one but him can hold the position of Grand Master. The common people have unwavering faith in him and support him. The Temple of the Sun is tolerant and forgiving of him. Even Kuntana and the famous 'White Priest' have turned a blind eye to his many unorthodox acts and let him do as he pleases."

Dusuan took a deep breath, and with inexplicable emotion, gritted his teeth and repeated:

"Tell me, how terrifying is Tianhui Taral?"

Born precocious...

Predictable...

Predicting the future...

Obeying orders...

Unorthodox and heretical...

Thales was shocked and surprised, but tried his best to appear calm and collected:

“I remember the last person with similar prestige was called ‘Born King’.”

Dusuan laughed again, but the laughter was very strange.

“As I just said, I came to Emerald City of my own volition—not just for Jenn.”

"so?"

Lord Hamber looked at Thales:

"At this very moment, another Hamboldt delegation from the city is being sent by Diebadorro—or, in your words, Prince Dorro. Unfortunately, he is the sixth son of the current Kadil..."

Dusuan paused briefly:

"And the students of Tianhui Talal."

Thales was taken aback.

"By the way, one of the candidates in this year's election, Hambul, was sponsored by him from within the country," Dusuan scratched his head, "I think his name is..."

The prince of Hampur, a student of the Heavenly Wisdom Tarar, also sent an envoy.
Thales quickly pressed for an answer:
"What do you mean? What did Tianhui Taral send him for? To cause chaos in Emerald City?"

Dusuan sneered and shook his head.

"It's nothing, but it's also something."

Thales was completely confused.

Until Dusuan narrowed his eyes:
"The truth is: Tianhui is quite interested in you, Thales Star—even before you regained your identity as Diyeba and went to the Northern Kingdom as a hostage."

Tianhui Talal.

Follow...me?

Thales was stunned.

Before I went to Exeter?

"And it's not just ordinary attention... From clothing, food, shelter, and transportation to temperament and hobbies, from appearance and behavior to past experiences, he pays more attention to you than to the ambitious tribes on the Duseri Grassland, the vassal state policy of the Suye people on the border, or the grudges and grievances between the Xi Ri Temple and the Seven Clans and even the Kadil—it's as if he's certain that among all these things, you are the most special and important one."

Dusuan scrutinized Thales, his gaze complex:

"That's why I came here. I came to the Starry Sky in person. I want to see who this person is that makes Tianhui Taral so wary and cautious that he had to send an envoy to contact him in advance."

Wary and wary... of me?

Thales was speechless.

“And what I’ve seen and heard in Emerald City these past few days only proves once again,” Dusuan sighed, turning away with a barely perceptible hint of jealousy and desolation in his voice, “that Tianhui Taral’s attention is always justified.”

Thales' mind went blank, and it took him a long time to return to reality.

"I...I don't understand."

The prince shook his head with difficulty:

“I have never met Tianhui Talal before, and we have never had any interaction.”

"I also do not understand."

Dusuan snorted coldly, his tone tinged with disdain and resentment:

“But people often say that Tianhui Talal is not an ordinary person, but a divine messenger sent by the Sun King to save believers, or a prophet born in the world to enlighten the ignorant, so every action he takes has a profound meaning.”

Taral of Congzhong City looked at Thales, his words carrying a deeper meaning:
"Perhaps, to him, you are more than just a foreign political figure from across the ocean?"

Dusuan changed the subject:
"Or is it a mortal enemy we are destined to face?"

Thales's eyebrows twitched.

what?
What do you mean?
Tianhui Talal...

Me?

A mortal enemy?

The next second, Du Suan, who had been looking serious, suddenly changed his expression and burst into laughter.

"Alright, alright, I won't scare you anymore," Taral from Congzhong City waved his hands repeatedly to express his apology. "Don't worry, Diebatails, before he completely controls the entire Hambul and extends his claws across the End Sea, we are still here to hold him back."

"Well, thank you so much."

Thales was still in shock and preoccupied with his own thoughts, so he gave a casual reply.

“But I’m curious about something,” Dusuan changed the subject, “how did you convince Janne to back down?”

Thales took a deep breath and tried to get back to the present moment.

"As you said, they used torture to extract confessions."

Dusuan seemed oblivious to his perfunctory attitude, and shook his head earnestly:

“No, I know Jenn. That would only backfire. He seems polite and refined, but in reality… if we were to get him to comply…”

At this point, the Hambur man's eyes flickered.

"Wait, you're not going to threaten him with his sister, are you?"

Thales was startled, and his expression faltered for a second.

Dusuan accurately captured the impropriety of that instant.

But instead of feeling smug and pleased at discovering the truth, he slowly opened his eyes, surprised and shocked:

"Xi Ri, Great Lord, you... really? His sister? Is that why he compromised?"

Thales was taken aback, and quickly composed himself to ask:

"No, of course I didn't. I wouldn't use someone's vulnerable family ties to threaten them... Why do you ask that?"

Dusuan's expression remained unchanged as he stared at Thales in disbelief.

"run."

"What?" Thales didn't react for a moment.

“Run, Thales, my lovely little Dieba.”

The next second, the Hambur man seemed to understand something, and he disregarded the flaw in the title:

"Run."

"I do not understand--"

"Run as far as you can!"

At this moment, Dusuan was unusually serious, leaving Thales dumbfounded:
"Even if I run up Mount Sighing, into Duseri, across the ancient land of the Sea of Flames, to Suye, to Fusang, to the boundless ocean beyond the Seven Seas!"

Lisheng Talar gritted his teeth:
"Before Jenn finally makes his move... to completely kill you."

[Supplementary Information]

Excerpts from historical documents concerning the alliance between the Hambor Dynasty and the Suye Kingdom in launching the Second Continental War:

On the other side of the distant sea, there are Western barbarians, also known as Xingyi or Xuelu...

A tyrant's corrupt lineage, a false emperor's poisonous legacy, they eat raw meat and drink blood, wear grass for clothing, live in a poor and desolate place, and have no soldiers... They fill the ranks of the stars, consider themselves a kingdom, use this to justify their overstepping their bounds, and repeatedly offend the majesty of Heaven... They are tyrannical and willful, a ruler who does not set an example for his subjects, they harbor filth and evil, the people have no shame, they are base and filthy, the country is reduced to livestock, they have lost all propriety and morality, and Heaven will not grant them their time...

In the past, when the final battle ended and the great edifice collapsed, my Chen clan's ancestor, Feng Zu, aligned with the righteous path of heaven and earth, and was chosen by the divine artifact. With a single call, a hundred responded, leading heroes to turn the tide. He achieved great merit, defeating the false emperor and punishing the tyrannical nation... A pillar of strength, saving countless people from suffering, leading heroes and freeing hundreds of nations from slavery...

With the world now at peace, Fengzu, with his supreme virtue, pardoned the false emperor's illegitimate son, Tuoshi Mengde. He was benevolent day and night, and righteously released the captive slave Kounai Karu… He temporarily allowed the establishment of a state to benefit the people, appointing him as governor in place of the king, and placing him among the feudal lords… The king's grace was boundless, and both Tuoshi and Naishi bowed deeply in gratitude, tears streaming down their faces. They swore an oath to heaven, remembering the mercy shown to them, the promise of continued life, and the blessings to be passed down through generations. They revered the virtue of their ancestor, the Son of Heaven, for over two hundred years…

It is a pity that his descendants are so stubborn and incorruptible, refusing to be loyal to the country, repent, or atone for their past sins… They are wolves by nature, committing evil deeds in their region, spreading wickedness and causing far-reaching harm… Our dynasty, upon hearing of this, cannot help but sigh with sorrow and hatred, and while some remember their past friendship, they hope they will behave themselves… However, they have become even more wicked, failing to learn from the past evils of the false emperor; lacking integrity and righteousness, how can they bear the great grace of their ancestors? They willingly degenerate, without ever reflecting on their own conduct; arrogant and presumptuous, daring to disregard the prestige of the nation day and night… Tyrannical and tyrannical, they are incorrigible, thus creating the evil of the Xingyi people and the harm caused by the invaders… Their evil is so great that even mountains and rivers cannot separate them, and their harm is so profound that even the highest heaven and the widest sea cannot tolerate them…

He ruled the world with perfect order, the supreme ruler, the divine instrument in his rightful place, all barbarians submitted, his power extended overseas, and all nations came to his court… He dominated the Central Plains to govern the world, and commanded all nations by suppressing the Great Mystery…

There is now a king named Kahandil of the Great Han Kingdom, whose ancestor was named Amma. He followed Fengzu in his campaign against the tyrannical emperor, serving him faithfully and loyally. He served him on horseback and in battle, and his contributions were considerable. Fengzu then granted him permission to establish a kingdom, exempting him from paying tribute and making him no vassal. The kingdom has been in existence for over a hundred years.

Now, the eighth-generation descendant of Amkha is on the throne. The land is remote and impoverished, and the people are barbarians, unaware of the king's might, and have repeatedly committed minor offenses… Our dynasty is magnanimous and forgiving, not bothered by small transgressions… But if our royal army were to be enraged, even those far away would be punished; a million mighty warriors would march forth, and the enemy would be utterly annihilated! How could that dynasty and its people possibly escape unscathed… Only since I ascended the throne have I governed with leniency and harmony, and the nation with benevolence, nurturing the world… Considering that the Han nation's incursions were due to dire straits, and out of compassion for its innocent people, I could not bear to see them suffer. Understanding the ignorance of Kahandil's young son, I have chosen to bide my time and remain silent, instead providing generous funds to alleviate their distress, foregoing the investigation of their transgressions, repaying evil with kindness, and employing both grace and severity to move their hearts…

The people of Han, bathed in grace and receiving this favor, recalled the precedent set by their ancestor Feng and thus awakened to their wrongdoing. They ceased hostilities, sought peace, repented, and vowed to mend their ways… Furthermore, they were extremely respectful in their conduct and rituals, submitting to my royal rule, admiring my civilization, and wholeheartedly devoted to me, loyal, upright, and honest… I am not stingy; I bestow upon them ten thousand gold pieces annually, generously grant them vast territories, and countless bolts of silk, grain, and horses, with the affection of a sovereign father caring for his young, in response to the Han people's admiration and reverence, to establish a lasting alliance and demonstrate the virtue of the Son of Heaven in governing the world and cherishing life…

Today, the envoys of the Han Kingdom have been humiliated by the Xingyi and Xuelu, and insulted by the distant Western Ocean… Khan is furious and ill, his people are filled with resentment and have no day of rest. This national shame and family disgrace are irreconcilable… When I heard the news, it was as if my own hands and feet had been chopped off, and I felt the pain myself. My ten fingers are connected to my heart, and tears soak my clothes… The Han Kingdom has sent a letter, beset by internal and external troubles, requesting heavenly troops from Tai Xuan. Khan is on his deathbed, and his words are filled with tears of blood. He begs the royal army to come out of the holy capital…

Though I am unworthy, I have not forgotten the teachings of our ancestor Feng: to uphold justice and protect the Way, to shoulder great responsibilities without hesitation, to help those in distress and rescue those in distress, how could I hesitate? To punish the wicked and eliminate the tyrannical, who else but me? Since I am seeking righteousness for my brothers, why should I fear the loss of my life? Therefore, I have gathered righteous men, assembled loyal and virtuous men, assembled the royal army, followed the great path, and helped my brothers.

With the world's voice heard, what obstacle cannot be overcome? With the kingly way to defeat the traitors, what achievement cannot be attained? With the hearts of the people united, what cannot be accomplished? ... Crossing mountains and seas, pacifying the extremely evil Xingyi and Xuelu barbarians, clearing thorns and brambles, eradicating the filthy blood and poisonous remnants of the false emperor and the Rong and Di tribes... Pacifying heaven and earth with righteousness, restoring peace to the universe... Heaven's mandate is on my side, the wicked will be punished!

The imperial edict was issued day and night to the fourteen prefectures and the four barbarian vassal states, informing them of the order. The military governors of each prefecture obeyed the king's command, ceased hostilities, and joined the national campaign.

Those who disobey, may the spirit of Fengzu bear witness, and may the whole world unite to strike them down!
