Chapter 214 The Blazing Edge
Chapter 214 The Blazing Edge
Thales took a deep breath and stared intently at the Scarlet Witch opposite him.
Even though Ashida answered his questions about magic users, Thales still had many doubts about his own physical constitution.
The primary suspect remains the mysterious mother, especially after hearing the Queen of the Sky's inexplicable words.
The second prince's chest heaved slightly: "Why bring up this name?"
She's lying, Thales thought to himself.
The Star Prince's first middle name is a rare name—this is no secret.
Cassandra narrowed her eyes to slits, revealing a gentle and friendly smile.
“At the dinner party, you eased a mother’s longing for her son,” Cassan opened her eyes slightly, looking at Thales with an amused expression. “She will certainly repay you…”
The Scarlet Witch's eyes flickered, and she spoke with a meaningful undertone: "...in the same way."
Thales clenched his fist slightly.
God.
She knew something; at least she knew that she was my birth mother…
"Your Highness Thales!"
Thales was slightly startled. He looked up at Raphael.
“Please remember, whatever she does or says now,” the latter slowly shook his head, his face grave, “is all for her own purposes.”
"If you need answers, the Secret Service is always at your service—we have a vast intelligence database."
Thales turned his head, his gaze sweeping over the preoccupied Miranda, the solemn Raphael, and the puzzled Cohen.
He frowned, took a deep breath, and nodded.
That's right.
At least not now.
Cassan sighed softly.
“Sometimes I admire Morat’s ability to teach,” the old woman turned her gaze to Raphael, “every one of his students is so outstanding.”
"Whether they are loyal to him or his enemies."
Raphael snorted coldly.
Miranda slowly walked to the left front of the Scarlet Witch, while Cohen moved to the other side.
Despite such obvious actions, Cassan seemed completely oblivious.
This made Thales even more uneasy.
“Prince Thales,” the Red Witch’s gaze sharpened unusually, “remember my advice at the banquet: all the troubles you’ve been through are nothing compared to Morat.”
“His loyalty is the deadliest poison,” Cassan said seriously. “The more loyal he is, the more dangerous he is.”
"I believe you have already realized this."
Thales shut his mouth and frowned.
“It’s rather ironic that these words came from the mouth of someone who betrayed King Nunn,” Raphael shook his head.
Cassan smiled.
"The tragedy of the Secret Service is that your only master is Shining Star." The Scarlet Witch shook her head dismissively: "Shining Star of Eternal Rule."
"But the monarchs of the Kingdom of Exter are always changing."
“So the Darkroom is only loyal to Exter,” Cassan paused slightly, her smile turning sinister, “when the King can no longer represent Exter…”
“We will choose the route that is most advantageous to Exster.”
Thales' heart skipped a beat.
When the king could no longer represent Exter.
Could it be that……
“Betrayal is betrayal,” Cohen couldn’t help but say, “especially when Nunn is still king.”
His footsteps drew closer and closer to Cassan.
"I didn't want things to come to this."
Cassan glanced at Miranda and Cohen, who were getting closer on either side, and shook her head with a sigh: "But by the time we found out..."
"It's all too late."
Thales frowned: "What do you mean?"
“It means…” Cassan looked up, her expression unusually solemn:
"Now!"
The Scarlet Witch's voice suddenly rose, and at the same time, she retreated rapidly!
Cohen and Miranda were taken aback.
"Boom!"
Before anyone could react, a huge explosion came from above!
The shock made Thales shudder, and his ears rang.
The ceiling was broken open.
Countless stones rained down on their heads, accompanied by clouds of dust!
Amidst the swirling dust, Thales coughed in the grime and instinctively raised his hand to shield his eyes.
What's going on here?
But before he could even react, Wyman, who reacted swiftly, pushed him backward.
Wyatt drew his single-edged sword, its blade flashing as it slashed towards the rubble above.
Several pebbles were shattered and smashed onto the surrounding open space and walls, raising even more dust that obscured Raphael and the others.
Thales and Little Sly both lost their balance and fell to the ground a meter behind them.
"Ignore her!" Raphael's urgent shout came faintly from ahead: "Back up and defend!"
Rolf swung his remaining left arm violently, creating a vortex to sweep away the dust.
But a burly figure in military uniform descended from the sky.
It landed in front of Rolf.
In his blurred vision, Thales vaguely saw the figure calmly dodging Rolf's thrusting hidden blade, while Rolf's figure floated to the side under the influence of his supernatural power.
But in the next instant, the burly figure unleashed his power and launched an elbow strike!
Rolf's body came to a heavy halt.
"Boom!"
Amidst the dust, the body of the Wind-Walking Ghost flew backward and crashed into a prison cell.
"No!" came Wyman's angry roar.
The power of termination surged into the swordsman's hand. He stood in front of Thales and charged toward the figure in the dust, unleashing a reckless strike amidst endless pain.
The wind from the sword brushed against his face, forcing Thales to close his eyes.
"Impulsive." A deep male voice came from behind.
Instead of retreating, the burly figure advanced, lunging towards Wya's sword!
Wyatt's single-edged sword cleaved into the enemy's shoulder.
"Clang!" The sound of a sword cutting through iron rang out.
But the tall figure immediately swung his left arm, grabbed Wya's neck, and pushed him away with force!
"Boom!"
Wyman was thrown backward, his head slamming hard against the cell wall.
The attendant collapsed to the ground. Oh no.
Thales gritted his teeth and, coughing, pulled the equally bewildered little rascal to his feet.
He looked up and saw the tall figure through the dust.
The enemy pulled Wya's sword from his shoulder armor, tossed it aside, and walked toward Thales.
Before Thales could panic, he instinctively stepped back.
"Qiang!"
Raphael emerged from the dust and swiftly slashed at the back of his enemy's head with his sword.
His arm trembled, a strange sound emanating from his muscles, and the sword's edge blurred for a moment before whistling piercingly through the air.
The towering enemy suddenly turned around.
As he turned his head, a thin-bladed knife with a smooth curve was instantly drawn from his waist!
"Shh!"
It was a rare light cavalry saber from the Western Continent, radiating a golden luster.
The moment the enemy drew his sword, Thales felt the air around him tremble and become hotter than ever before!
The temperature rose suddenly, as if someone had set a huge fire in the air.
This reminded him of the bombardment from the magic gun.
The enemy turned and slashed, striking Raphael's sword.
"Zi!"
The saber and the longsword clashed, but the sound was not the usual metallic clang, but a piercing hissing sound!
Raphael's sword snapped in two instantly.
The broken blade struck the wall and then bounced away.
"what!"
Raphael gritted his teeth and groaned in pain. Flames erupted in his left hand, which was holding the sword, forcing him to retreat.
In the dust, the enemy casually swung his saber, the blade of which, though not on fire, strangely drew a string of sparks through the air.
Thales watched in astonishment as the powerful enemy defeated the three in an instant, his heart filled with fear.
Miranda and Cohen appeared simultaneously beside Raphael, their swords flashing.
The former's sword wavered uncertainly, seemingly ready to change its move at any moment, while Cohen's sword attacked fiercely and with great force.
The enemy remained calm, lowered his left shoulder, and, just as he had done with Wyatt and Rolf, lunged at Miranda.
That weapon was strange—you couldn't fight him with it.
Seize the rhythm and push him.
Miranda's eyes flickered, and the Pegasus Melody began, the tip of her sword pointing towards the enemy's groin.
But to her surprise, the enemy did not dodge or evade, but instead charged straight at the edge of her sword!
Before Miranda could react, her sword pierced her enemy's waist.
Just as the sword was about to penetrate, the enemy's waist trembled, and the sword slipped out from his side, drawing a spray of blood, but avoiding a vital spot.
The next second, the enemy lunged forward, his iron-like left shoulder slamming into Miranda's right chest!
With a muffled groan as the female swordswoman staggered backward, the enemy slammed the hilt of his sword into her.
"Boom!"
Miranda collapsed to the ground, overwhelmed by excruciating chest and abdominal pain.
Cohen's sword whistled from behind the enemy.
The enemy snorted coldly.
"clang!"
The sword pierced the junction of the enemy's back armor and arm armor, and blood gushed out.
Before the sword could penetrate his body, the tall enemy swiftly turned around, using the pressure of the two armor plates to forcefully pull the sword to one side!
Then he swung the sword.
But to the enemy's surprise, Cohen was not swayed by his strange actions.
The guard released his sword hilt the instant he turned around.
Cohen lunged at the enemy with a fierce expression, ducking down to avoid a vicious slash.
The guard held him tightly around the waist, pressed down on the enemy's knife-wielding hand's forearm, and pushed off with both legs!
The enemy let out an "Oh," seemingly surprised.
"boom!"
Under Cohen's terrifying impact, the two big guys fell to the ground together, kicking up another cloud of dust.
"Clang!"
The enemy's saber fell to the ground due to the sudden impact.
"what--"
Cohen, pinning his enemy down, roared with a ferocious expression.
He struck the enemy squarely in the abdomen with his elbow.
"Boom!"
The enemy let out a muffled groan.
But Cohen was immediately grabbed by the shoulders by the enemy, who suddenly sat up.
The enemy delivered a sudden and powerful headbutt, striking Cohen in the bridge of his nose!
"boom!"
Seeing stars, the guard was about to raise his arms to break free from the enemy's hold. But the enemy reacted with lightning speed, pushing forward and kicking out as Cohen stumbled and regained his balance!
"Boom!"
Behind the two fiercely fighting, Raphael swung his left shoulder a few times.
With a strange hissing sound from inside his arm, the flames on his left hand mysteriously went out all at once.
Raphael gritted his teeth, kicked up the sword from one of the guards' corpses, and charged forward with the sword.
But Cohen stumbled and fell from the front, and Raphael had no choice but to help him up.
Miranda struggled to her feet and joined them.
The next second, Raphael stopped in his tracks, motionless.
"What's wrong?" Cohen asked, clutching his stomach and panting in pain.
Raphael did not answer, but his face was grim.
The smoke cleared.
The tall figure had already picked up his golden saber again.
His blade was pressed against the throat of a little boy.
Behind them, the little rascal was watching the two of them, trembling with fear.
Miranda sighed.
On the other side, Wyatt helped Rolf, who was coughing violently, to his feet and looked at the situation on the field in disbelief.
"Step back," the lone enemy said coldly. "You have already lost."
Raphael and the others all frowned.
"Um, hello."
Thales felt the chill in his throat and gave a helpless smile, his scalp tingling: "Lord Tuleha."
The towering enemy—Rom Tuleha, one of the five Exter generals clad in full armor and the "Fire Knight" of Black Sand Territory—coldly gripped his saber and nodded in response:
"Hello, Prince Thales."
I'm currently writing the next chapter; I'll see if I can post it at 2 PM.
