Chapter 166 Surprise
Chapter 166 Surprise
“Mr. Sakun,” Thales said, struggling to control his heartbeat and breathing beside the sword, as he looked at the mage with difficulty, “I don’t think you want to waste your time here?”
“Yes,” Ashida said calmly, “Just take this guy out—that’s the fastest way.”
“Hmph,” Black Sword sneered, “Likewise.”
Thales felt a headache coming on.
“This, Mr. Black Sword?” Thales gasped, speaking to his hostage, “You know…you know this guy is unkillable, right?”
Behind him, Black Sword's breathing gradually calmed down.
"Who knows," Black Sword said calmly, "Maybe next time, I can kill him?"
Aishida let out a mocking snort, coldly staring at the black sword.
The two people's lack of courtesy left Thales extremely embarrassed.
Thales let out a breath.
“I have a suggestion for you two…” Thales felt the chill on his neck and gave an ugly laugh: “Perhaps you—Mr. Black Sword—don’t have to cut off my head…”
Aishida narrowed her eyes, her expression subtle.
“Look, you’ve already exchanged blows.” Thales couldn’t see Blacksword’s expression, but he knew it must have looked terrible.
But Thales could only strain his voice in the cold wind: "Mr. Magister has a slight advantage, but Mr. Black Sword, you always manage to surprise us..."
Aishida and Black Sword stared at each other, their eyes filled with merciless killing intent.
"If you continue this stalemate, it will only attract the attention of Dragon Sky City..."
Thales trembled slightly: "Sir, why don't you just let me go and disappear?"
“Then, Mr. Sakun,” Thales smiled awkwardly, “since my life is in his hands, why don’t you be magnanimous and let him go?”
Most importantly, you need to detach yourself from the situation first.
Thales thought to himself: He had been hoping that the sudden appearance of the Black Sword would help him out, but it turns out that neither of these two guys is a good person!
Under the moonlight, the cold wind and falling snow gradually subsided.
Black Sword remained silent.
Thales, nearly frozen stiff, desperately maintained a smile:
"How about it?"
Aishida and the prince's eyes met in mid-air.
Thales felt a chill run down his spine. Although the mage was much better than the emotionless "glowing mode" from before, he could still feel the coldness in Ashida's eyes.
“I refuse,” Ashida said coldly. “I’m fed up with this cat-and-mouse game—he must die here today.”
The smile froze on Thales' face.
Hey……
Thales looked at Ashida in disbelief.
What happened to the promised friendship and mutual assistance among magic users?
Aishida ignored Thales's gaze; at that moment, the mage felt icy cold inside.
Black Sword's performance just now has proven that he is fully qualified to be one of those "Calamity Hunters" from over six hundred years ago, as long as he possesses a legendary anti-magic weapon...
Once upon a time, those top-tier warriors, handpicked from among the various races, were all formidable beings, wielding the greatest nemesis of magic users, hiding on the battlefield, waiting to deliver a fatal blow.
During the post-war cleanup, they became terrifying pursuers in the dark, hunting down all magic users, whether they existed or not, whether they were hostile or not, leaving no one behind, regardless of their faction.
If it weren't for that great upheaval, and the political divisions among the nations after the war that caused the "catastrophe hunter" to fall apart...
Black sword… Aishida looked at her right hand, which had just been severed and regrown, and narrowed her eyes.
He must die here.
“See, of course I can let you go, child,” Black Sword whispered behind Thales’ ear:
"But he refused."
The fraternity leader slowly shook his head and sighed softly, "You can only blame your bad luck."
Thales let out a painful sigh.
“Then let’s see,” Ashida sneered, “How long can you, mere humans, hold out in the icy north?”
“Yes,” Black Sword tapped Thales’ shoulder without backing down, “How long can he hold out?”
Caught between the two, Thales frowned helplessly.
What the hell...
Thales took a deep breath and then slowly gritted his teeth.
He glanced at Dragon Sky City below Sky Cliff, lost in thought.
no solution anymore.
"I see."
“How about this,” Thales took a deep breath, licked his dry lips, and said, word by word, “I have an idea…”
Black Sword and Ashida turned their attention to him.
Thales finished speaking slowly, his face drooping.
“This way, Mr. Black Sword, you'll have time to escape—I believe you can…”
“And Mr. Saxe, we can continue our journey…”
Hearing Thales' words, both Ashida and Black Sword frowned.
“Hmph,” Ashida sneered, “You’re helping him?”
"Do not."
Thales felt the grip on his shoulder loosen a bit, and he smiled even more broadly, saying, "I'm helping all of us."
Ashida's gaze grew colder and colder.
It made Thales feel uneasy.
A cold wind blew.
Black Sword let out a low sigh.
“I’ve been looking for this opportunity since the very beginning,” Black Sword whispered in his ear. “Thank you for your suggestion, child.”
"So, you agreed?" Thales turned his head awkwardly, pulling his neck away from the cold blades and serrations.
Black Sword looked at Ashida, whose face was pale, patted Thales on the shoulder, and nodded slowly: "Of course, there is only one thing that needs improvement."
Thales was taken aback.
improve?
“I’ve come to find him…” Black Sword’s eyes widened, and he suddenly grabbed Thales and stood up from the ground!
"It wasn't to escape!"
Aishida's expression changed, and she suddenly stretched out her right hand!
But the black sword was faster than him.
The fraternity legend moved swiftly and decisively, grabbing Thales by the back of his collar and swinging his left arm diagonally upward in another direction!
At that moment, the black sword threw the second prince of the stars over the cliff!
"Ahhh!"
Thales only had time to open his mouth before he was hit with a mouthful of snow.
"You actually threw it!"
Panic coursing through his veins as Thales felt the howling wind, squinted at the Dragon Sky City shrunken countless times in his field of vision, and roared in mid-air in despair:
"At least give us a signal!"
Black Sword roared and sprang up once more!
They charged toward Ashida.
The cold wind whistled past Thales' ears, making it hard for him to open his eyes. But he could feel his upward momentum diminishing!
A ball of light condensed in Ashida's left hand.
"clang!"
The black sword's blade struck the invisible wall in front of Ashida once again.
A fraction of a second later, Thales felt it—he was falling.
They plummeted towards Dragon Sky City below the cliff!
Thales felt a chill run down his spine: his little arm was still a person's height away from the edge of the high cliff!
Damn black sword...
I didn't ask you to throw me this far!
And... I told you to take the opportunity to escape when Ashida rescued me!
What if Ashida doesn't make it in time...
Fortunately, Ashida ignored the black sword. He calmly looked up and extended his right hand toward Thales.
Sure enough, the next moment, Thales felt himself being lifted up by a strange force as he was falling.
The downward momentum stopped abruptly.
Thales remained suspended in the air, still shaken, preventing him from falling nearly a hundred meters off the cliff and turning into a bloody pulp.
But the battle on the high cliff was not over yet.
With a sudden spin, Black Sword unleashed a strange power from his entire body, propelled by the momentum of the attack!
"monster!"
With a roar, the black sword unleashed his most powerful and devastating strike of the night!
Sword Edge leaned against the invisible wall in front of the mage.
Under Ashida's incredulous gaze, the black sword's weapon drew a streak of fire in the void!
And a piercing, violent explosion.
"His!"
Thales stared in disbelief as the black sword struck the blue-glowing wall of air, right where the blue light was thinnest.
The blue light was slashed, causing ripples to appear!
then.
With lightning speed, the black sword withdrew its longsword and then thrust it out again in an instant!
In Thales's vision, a colorless power suddenly gathered on the man's sword, unleashing astonishing strength.
"clang!"
It pierced the blue light that was already fluctuating erratically!
Black Sword's eyes were resolute as he spun the sword in his hand.
Immense power converges on a single point.
The next moment.
"boom!"
Amidst Ashida's furious roar, an indestructible, invisible wall of air...
Shattered!
"call!"
The malfunctioning air wall transformed into turbulent air currents, whipping up countless snowflakes.
Blue light gathered in Ashida's hands, attempting to condense another wall of air.
But at least for that one second, there was no longer any barrier between the Black Sword and Aishida.
Thales's brow furrowed: the black sword did not strike again—the man reached out and instantly pressed down on another weapon at his waist.
The weapon was tightly wrapped in burlap.
In a fraction of a second, the burlap sack fell away, and the black sword was drawn. It was a peculiar hand-and-a-half-sword—no, even smaller than a hand-and-a-half-sword.
It's only the length of a black sword's forearm.
The blade is dark red, and the body is deep red.
The red sword has a pure black hilt with a large counterweight ball.
In the center of the hilt is a deep red gemstone.
The sword's guard is curved in the opposite direction, extending towards the blade.
Surprisingly, there were several small protrusions on the handguard, pointing in the direction of the enemy.
It looks like... fangs?
For some reason, the moment Thales saw the sword, he felt his hair stand on end and his blood surge.
A strange, indescribable feeling washed over me.
This feeling... Thales wondered: Why does it feel so familiar?
Before he could think any further, the black sword, wielding the small red sword, plunged it right into Ashida's abdomen.
Time seemed to stand still at that moment.
Ashida looked at the small red sword, as if trying to feel the sensation of it piercing her body.
Immediately, shock flashed in his eyes.
"This is……"
And panic.
Just like the time he was stabbed by Yodl on Red Street.
Thales, who was floating in mid-air, was startled. He no longer had the energy to care whether he was still in the dangerous high altitude.
In that instant, he knew what weapon Black Sword was holding.
"No, how could you have it? How did you know..." Ashida stared at the sword in Black Sword's hand with the most incredulous look in her eyes.
Black Sword did not answer him.
He simply twisted his hand and lifted the small red sword upwards!
The sword's edge began in Ashida's lower abdomen, slicing open his upper body and cutting vertically from the top of the mage's head.
Endless blue light emanated from Ashida's severed body.
"laugh!"
Without any mercy, Black Sword swung his left hand again, severing Ashida in half at the waist.
Ashida, broken in two, fell to the ground.
His face was still showing shock.
"farewell."
Black Sword gripped his twin swords in both hands, turned around coldly, and said, "Monster."
The next moment, Thales swayed, and the force supporting him disappeared.
Oops!
Panic gripped Thales' heart.
Aishida's powers have failed!
He was suspended a hundred meters in the air, helpless and adrift, falling from the cliff below to Longxiao City.
Thales looked down at the miniature Dragon Sky City beneath him, his heart pounding.
His body continued to fall.
at this time.
"Keng!"
The sharp sound of metal rubbing against stone.
Thales looked up, his whole body jolted!
He saw the black sword leap off the cliff and charge towards him.
then.
Black Sword's eyes flashed coldly as he suddenly stretched out his right hand.
But his right hand held a long sword!
He thrust the strange black sword in his hand fiercely towards Thales, who was falling from mid-air!
Thales' pupils suddenly contracted!
what?
The sword's edge did not pause for the slightest.
It was aimed straight at his head!
The cold wind echoed in Thales' ears.
In a fraction of a second, he instantly switched between countless emotions.
why?
Why do you want to kill me?
Thales stared blankly at the sword that was thrusting toward his head.
Amidst astonishment, fear, confusion, and anger, he could only helplessly close his eyes.
"laugh!"
The strange sword pierced through Thales's clothes.
Thales' eyelids suddenly contracted.
But the expected pain and sensation did not occur.
The wind howled.
Thales trembled as he opened his eyes.
He was still in mid-air, with a miniature version of Longxiao City lying quietly a hundred meters below him.
Thales shrank back and turned his head away.
He watched in astonishment as the strange blade pierced through his collar, hooking Thales onto the barb of the sword.
And so, Thales was hung on the sword, swaying back and forth in mid-air.
A cold wind swept past his side.
He stared in disbelief at the other side of the sword, at the ordinary-looking man.
Black Sword held the small red sword in one hand, its blade firmly embedded in the rock of the cliff—and thus, he hung precariously on the edge of the cliff.
His other hand stretched out horizontally, grasping the strange black sword, and hung little Thales on the sword hook.
The ordinary-looking man gritted his teeth and slowly sheathed his sword.
Thales was still in shock, staring blankly at the black sword.
The latter smiled and said calmly to the second prince in mid-air:
“I gave you a signal before I threw it.”
Thales' eyes, wide with fear and shock, were now completely unable to close.
He felt the pressure on his collar and dared not look down at all, only clutching his chest tightly.
It was as if his heart would jump out of his chest if he didn't do it.
Black Sword's expression remained unchanged as he steadily and powerfully withdrew his sword-wielding arm.
A few seconds later, Thales looked at the black sword that was getting closer and closer to him, and his mood finally calmed down a bit.
"what!"
He exhaled sharply!
At that moment, Thales just wanted to complain:
What are you doing!
Thales was breathing heavily, and said weakly, "Could you... next time..."
However, he only got halfway through his sentence before Thales' eyes widened again.
He looked up with a chill run down his spine, staring at the figure behind the black sword.
No way.
There, a strange blue light slowly gathered.
Under the moonlight, the blue light reconstructed a strange figure.
The figure stood to the left of the black sword, looking at the small red sword stuck in the cliff with a complicated expression.
Thales' mouth dropped open.
isn't it?
The black sword hanging on the cliff stared at Thales's expression and froze.
He soon found out what had happened.
Black Sword frowned, slowly turned around, and looked towards the edge of the high cliff.
There stood Ashida Sakorn, restored to full health and completely unharmed.
“Next time,” the air mage’s face was extremely grim, but his words remained as sarcastic as ever, “if you’re trying to scare me…”
"It would be best to find a truly legendary anti-magic weapon..."
"Instead of a fake with a similar aura."
Black Sword's expression changed.
He glanced at Ashida, who was calm and collected, on his left, and then at Thales, who was hanging on his sword, looking both amused and exasperated, on his right.
Black Sword let out a heavy sigh.
“Lancer,” the black sword hanging on the cliff closed its eyes, shook its head helplessly, and said in a subtle tone, “You fucking screwed me over again…”
"Legendary Anti-Demon Armed Forces..."
"Even counterfeit goods are possible?"
Thales frowned.
Aishida squinted.
Black Sword looked utterly dejected, as if he'd just swallowed a fly.
The three people stood still for three seconds in the cold wind, adopting an odd posture.
They all seemed unsure how to respond in this situation.
“You, child,” Ashida finally turned his gaze, looking coldly at Thales, his tone intimidating, “you are really naughty.”
Thales could only manage a mournful smile.
But before he could utter a single word, the black sword moved again!
The next moment, Black Sword raised his feet and braced them against the side of the cliff.
With a sudden burst of strength, he pulled the small red sword from the rock!
The black sword, now without any support, began to slowly descend, carrying Thales along with it.
Ashida's expression changed drastically!
Thales was so shocked that he forgot to breathe!
At that moment, Black Sword raised his head and glanced at the mage with a half-smile, his face grim.
"A surprise for you," he said casually.
"You!" Ashida angrily raised her hand, the air pressure flowing, intending to support them.
But Black Sword didn't give him that chance.
In a fraction of a second, the black sword's power surged, and its legs pushed off the rock face!
He grabbed Thales, at a speed that Ashida couldn't react to...
They plummeted rapidly down the high cliff!
